If powder days are a rarity in your region, the Line Prophet 90 will console you. This all-mountain ripper’s 90mm waist used to be considered fat, but now it’s an Eastern skier’s supermodel-dreamboat-turned-hippie-chick-next-door. Take it anywhere on the mountain: groomers, crud, bumps, trees, and even off the backside for a hidden stash of knee-deep fluff after a storm cycle—the Prophet 90’s light weight, mid-radius progressive sidecut, and snappy but stable metal-over-wood laminate core put the hurt on the entire resort and beyond.

  • Metal Matrix laminate amplifies torsional stiffness without adding weight
  • Maple Macroblock core provides chatter-free power
  • Fatty Base & Edge 4D Fibercap construction takes a beating on the hill and on the tuning table

Bottom Line: All-mountain mystic.

I have been snowboarding for 4 seasons and looking now to buy ski's. I am looking for a ski that can do everything. I live on east so be riding in those conditions. I am 5'11, 180 lbs. I have only skied once before several years ago but picked it up quicker then boarding. I was thinking the Line Prophet 90, Line Flite, or Solomon Lord. What size should I go for? Any recommendations? Thanks. I dont not want to buy entry level skis cause I know I will move through those quickly and be looking for something else.

I am female, 6 feet, 140 lbs., a fairly aggressive skier who primarily spends her time on the east coast with 2-3 west coast weekends a year. I want a more aggressive, responsive ski for the east coast conditions. I was deciding between the Line Prophet Flite in 172 or the K2 Missdemeanor in 169 (tallest they make then). What do you think? I don't do park skiing but like steep blacks slopes, some backcountry, trees and powder when I can find it. I currently ski an old Atomic 170 and I think they are old, turn slow, and are stiff. Any suggestions on my new ski picks? I'm trying to decide ASAP.

This ski has performed well as an all-mountain ski and has definitely pushed me to become a better skier. Its stable at speed, grips on the groomers and can hold its own on everything but a skating rink. I've skied it at Cannon in New Hampshire since opening day and it has responded to all conditions..no deep powder yet...but I expect good results.

These were the 07-08 model, virtually same ski. Not a forgiving flex when landing... but definitely a hard chargin ski.

I am looking for a first pair of skis, just started skiing this

I am looking for a first pair of skis, just started skiing this season (southern Pennsylvania so nothing special but good to learn on) and have been out 5 times slowly transitioning to longer and longer skis (I learned on 130s and have worked up to 150s and plan on going bigger next time) enjoying the ever increasing combination of speed and stability. I am planning a trip to Vermont in the coming weeks and looking to purchase a ski and binding to buy before that trip that will allow me to have fun now but grow into and not get bored with in the coming years (I did try a a few jumps at the terrain park last night and that was fun as well though definitely not the current focus of my skiing). Is this a good ski for my level and needs (and if so what length and width for me at 5'9" 185 lbs.?) and if not what else should I be looking at?

I'm 5'8" - 160 lbs. Ski mostly in the east (20 days or so) w 1 trip out west a year. 50% groomers, 25% trees /bump, 25% pow. I have had 78mm skis in the past (Head Chip 78 @ 165) and want a more versatile ski for crud, and some pow.

I'm looking at the Line Prophet 90 (172 length), Atomic Snoop, Volkl Mantra (170). I am an advanced skier, ski fast and hard and need stability but very interested in more versatility.

Which would be the best for me?

chicks don't be scared of these sticks

By:
December 15, 2009

wow! these are awesome skis! reading the specs they may seem too heavy or too stiff but they're not! you've got about 200g over the celebrity in 158, and that equals a big bowl of pasta. not much really.(i'm 5'5" and about 125). these skis totally rip steeps, bumps, trees, powder, leftovers, crude, hard pack. does it all. the turns are effortless. the skis are nimble, and go exactly where you point them. i slightly overturned them at first before i realized just how precise they are. i'm burning way less calories turning these sticks, so whatever extra weight i'm going to skin with or tote, i'm totally ready for the trade off. tell santa to put these under the tree!

Want to get some P90's. Questions about length. I'm 5'11"

Want to get some P90's. Questions about length. I'm 5'11" 190lbs, 31 yrs old. I currently ski 165 Dynastar race ski's b/c i liked the carving, stability and tight edge.

In this ski I'm looking for quick turns, good edge and stability, all mountain. Have not done much glade skiing, skis can't handle it, but would like to. So I don't want too long of a ski that I can't take in trees and turn quick.

Should I go with 165 or 172. 165 might give me similar handling to what I"m used to, but with the twin tip taking up some space, maybe 172 is good.. I know there are alot of folks that are coming down in size even into the 150's b/c of the technology and better turning ability in shorter skis...

Thoughts....

172, or even longer if you want it. 172 for quicker turns or for the east, but longer out west. World cup men ski 165 for slalom. At 5'11" and 190lbs 165 would be too short. I am 5'5" and 130 lbs, female, and i skied the Salomon Suspect 151 and it was way too short, but the Dumont 161 is much better.
Twin tips are softer than other types of all mountain skis. Softer skis can be longer than stiffer skis because stiffer skis provide more stability. Twin tips also have less shape and can be skied longer.

Any of you guys really compared the Prophet 90 to the Salomon

Any of you guys really compared the Prophet 90 to the Salomon Lord? I ski Obsethed's and Mantra's everyday all over the place from crud, firmpack, deep powder, to major bumps. Looking for something narrower and quicker to make it easier on my 38 year old knees(using up my number of bumps quick). I ski both my wide skis faster, stronger, and quicker than most guys on skinny sticks through the bumps but it does take a toll after awhile. I don't want to give up the crud busting and overall fun of the other skis but just know the fun of skinnier more supple sticks than my mantra's. Obsethed are very supple but just fat. Prophet 90, Salomon Lord, Salomon new Tornado Ti or other carvers, Line Flite, Volkl Bridge, Rossi Phantoms, etc...any other thoughts out there?

Kudos for the Prophet 90

By:
December 24, 2009

The Prophet 90 seems unappreciated next to the the Prophet 100 but is probably the more versatile of the two ski models for variable conditions typical to eastern AND western ski resorts. I ski in the PNW. It is stiffer and quicker to turn than the 100 but straightlines better. Less float than the 100 of course but does well in less than 10" or so and it can power through chopped and junky snow very well. It holds its edge well on hard snow and on steeps and the twin tip provides confidence in narrow chutes and bumps. It carves and also "slarves" well. The 90 is a great all mountain ski and sells for a relatively reasonable price compared with other skis.

Most companies make a longer ski, you'll probably be looking at around 190cm. However a lot of the longer skis are in the big-mountain and powder skis. Check out the Volkl Mantras in 191cm. They are a good all-around ski and will be fairly stiff in flex, which you will likely need or learn to appreciate.

I agree, the Prophets have a shorter turning radius than many other skis, and the thinner waist makes them a little easier to get edge to edge. If you're skiing mainly resorts out east I assume that you aren't going to be doing a lot of tree skiing, in which case the extra length won't be too much of an issue and the stability at speed will help you out. Stick with it. If it is really too much ski, remember that you can always return any gear that you buy from us, even if it's used.

I think you got the right ski after all. the 179 sounds like the best length for you. remember the effective edge of the prophet is less because of the raised tail. also this will be more stable at higher speeds. mount them up and start ripping!

So this is a huge change in the type of equipment i am use to. Hoping this will meet my needs And the Head Rep that recommended this ski did not sell me to short.

I ride the chronic 166 and I am now exploring a lot of the back country in the north east and was wondering how big I should go with the prophet 90 or 100 as a touring ski.

For touring I would definitely go with the 90 cm width. Weight is an issue and these skis are already on the chubby side of things. Although 100 cm waists will certainly float better, an extra couple pounds for miles adds up pretty quick. I myself have a pair of BD Kilowatts with Marker Baron bindings which runs around 10 pounds

Great all around ski

By:
October 21, 2009

I have dynafits on these in a 179 and they are the perfect touring ski for me. The metal is worth the extra weight keeping bindings attached to the ski and the ability to not back off scary terrain. This ski i think has been unchanged and changed many other skis for a few years, proving it was the prophet. Light, fast turning, and solid. The love groomers too. I am sure you could 'butter' around the mountains east coast or west coast. super playful!

Length question: Do these ski short or long. I am 5'11" and 185. Can I go with the 179 or do I need the 186. I will take them all over the mountain. Also how about pairing these with the marker Griffons?

I disagree with Shane. I feel that you should absolutely get the 186 for this ski. Line's ski short because of the twin-tip, and they also have a VERY short turn radius (look around the site and compare the 19.5m radius with other skis). Ski length is a function of WEIGHT and height, at 185lbs you should definitely be on the 186 in the Prophet 90. Going longer will also force you to ski a little faster to get the most out of the ski, which in turn will improve your technique.

I always like the longest length I can manage, but I am also bigger then you. The ski rides a little short due to the twin tips, but the big question is what you are used to. If you ski a 179 already, and are really confident but overpower them sometimes, go up. If not, the 179 will definitely be alright for you.

Tree Skier

October 16, 2009

One of the best skis for tight forests that I've ever seen. I want to take a pair to Jay Peak! The Prophet 90 turns so super quick, yet the metal keeps it stable and predictable. Not the best for big mountain shredding or straightlines, it's got a fairly tight turn radius. But perfect for stealthy pow-stash sessions.

Marker Jester/Griffin would both be good choices. Great feel and energy transmission. Same could be said about the Look PX14, or the Salomon STH 14. All are great bindings for an all mountain expert. They all have excellent release and retention properties to keep you in when you need to be, and release when you need to as well.

These are very stiff. Go with the prophet flite if you like Line, it should be softer since it wont have the metal matrix. I'm not sure about the K2, but I'd imagine it is quite softer. I've seen park people use them so thats my only guess that they have a softer flex.
