The Liberty Helix has good skiing written into its DNA. This versatile twin-tipped specimen was bred to dominate big mountains, deep snow, hardpack, groomers, and jumps. With a 105 waist and mini-rockered tips and tails, the Helix hits the sweet spot for pow-loving, all-mountain capable performance. The result is a quiver of one that’s as resilient as a mutt, looks like a purebred, and takes best in show.
Mini-rockered tip and tail for added flotation in powder with plenty of edge control
Earth-friendly bamboo core wrapped in a quadaxial fiberglass weave for responsive flex
UHMW sidewalls and bomb-proof, oversized HRC 48 edges that refuse to dent, break, or blow out
I ride these with 7tm releasable telemark bindings and they absolutely rip. They gave surprising grip on hardback in New England, but floated and powered through BC powder. Brilliant skis. They *do* chatter at speed on hardpack, so aren't ideal if you're a strict resort skier, but if you spend any time in the backcountry, get these, especially for tele. On top of all of their brilliance, they are ultra light so are great for those skinning or hiking days. A+ Liberty!
I am 5'5" and 135 lbs and am looking at the Liberty Helix as a backcountry ski. I am wondering if 167 cm would be too long of a ski? Also there is the women's version the Liberty Envy powder that comes in a 156 cm though with this be on the other end and ski to short?

FWIW, my girlfriend is 5'7" and 130. She's athletic, but not superstrong, also just coming back to skiing after 15 years off. She's gonna be on 167s even though we will be in the backcountry 90% of the time. They have full camber with maybe a couple cms of early rise (the "stealth rocker") so even w/ twintips, they ski pretty true to size.
I'd either go 176, or 182. If you like to go fast, stomp big airs, and will be skiing steep and deep, or are a heavier guy, I'd go for the 182. The "mini rocker" will make it ski a little shorter than you'd think, but you don't need to size up a big amount like you would for a full reverse camber or early rise ski. I guess I'd push the longer ski, but if you like to make lots of tight turns and farm your runs, a shorter ski would be better. If you like to go big, then go big. Enjoy!
