Love the big gauge and easy to use chuck
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
After >10 years, the lever chuck on my alloy Specialized pump, always fussy to use, was getting even more finicky. Getting a rebuild kit seemed complicated, so I decided to just get a new pump. Given my nearsightedness, I wanted a large gauge. There is a confusing myriad of floor pumps available (why so many? Lezyne's alloy pump is produced with CNC, and their CNC pumps are alloy?) to this one, which I think cost less than my old Specialized one did. And works far better. I was looking for a Presta-only chuck, but Lezyne's ABS2 works great on Presta. The how-to-use video is here: http://www.lezyne.com/product-fpumps-hp-alloyY9.php#.V_9jCaOZNE4 . The long hose is also really appreciated.
The only possible improvement that comes to mind is a moveable red arrow on the gauge face that one could set to the desired pressure. Shoppers should be aware that the large gauge this pump has is available on only certain Lezyne pumps, not all of them.
This thing has a wonderful retro-tool look, nice because it lives with my bikes in my LR.
ABS2 is Tops.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I reserve five star ratings for products that exceed my expectations. This pump definitely does so. The ABS2 system is the easiest valve interface I've ever used: just slide the little sleeve back, tuck it onto the valve stem, and pump away. When you're done, it pops off with virtually no lost PSI, and the industrial look and comically oversized gauge make this thing a display piece as much as a garage staple. There are far too many cheap, rickety plastic pumps in the world; do yourself a favor and rebel against that trend by picking up a Lezyne.
Lezyne recommends that you twist the ABS2's nut thing to tighten the seal, but I usually skip that step because I didn't watch the instruction video until I'd had the pump for a bit.
