The Leki Makalu Antishock AS Trekking Poles make putting miles between your Dodge and the mountaintop easy. Having a set of trekking poles is like adding four-wheel drive to your body. Leki's Easy Lock System lets you adjust the poles' length to match terrain and quickly change length when needed. The Soft Antishock System uses a spring and elastomer combination to tame rough ground and to keep the sting away from your hands. In addition, a flexible tip won't bend or break when stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Bottom Line: From Noatak to Nepal your trek begins with the Leki Makalu Antishock AS poles.

An average pair of poles

Nothing about these poles is bad or amazing, they are just good. The anti shock is a good feature but they weigh a bit more then other poles. I don’t find I notice the anti shock enough to justify a heavy pole. Slip a bit too if you don’t get them completely tight, which is hard to do when it is very cold.

These are great poles! The anti shock system i found is great when your arms are getting tired or you want to keep a good beat while walking. The just help bounce the pole back up once you take the weight off of them. I used to never hike with poles but now i love it. helps with side cramps and just give a better flow to your walk. I really like the leki poles, i have used many different styles of theirs. They do great in the snow with powder baskets and great in the summer!

So-so trekking poles

I wouldn't buy these again. I've had quite a bit of trouble keeping them locked, which is pretty annoying when you're carrying a heavy pack up a steep trail. When they are working, I don't have any complaints about the weight, comfort, or stability they provide. They work well on rocky terrain and they absorb a majority of the shock.
