- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
got these for my mom who at first liked them, but as she tested them around the house she didn't feel they where sturdy enough and decided to return them and go with a carbon trekking pole.
Does the job
These are great! Durable and comfortable grips. Great for long hikes and they pack down pretty small and are light weight.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
They work well and seem pretty heavy duty.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
My wife and I purchased trekking poles before our belated honeymoon to Smoky Mountains. Though a Government Shutdown closed the park the day before we headed out we still found incredible hiking in North Carolina. This is a strong durable trekking pole with sound locking mechanisms. Now I have refused to let chronic back pain keep me off the trail, and even though I for years thought trekking poles were unnecessary, even gently chiding them at times. Research claims that any trekking pole will re-disperse 10 lbs of pack weight from your knees. I've learned they're fantastic on steep uphill or down hill sections. When in Arches and portions of North Carolina we found ourselves hiking on rock surfaces, not wanting to damage the surface with the poles carbon tip we picked up rubber walking stick caps for our poles. Leki makes a variety of accessories including snow baskets which allow us to use our trekking poles all year long as we head out in our snowshoes.
