Why mess with clunky leather boots when there’s the Lafuma Men’s XLight Mid OT Hiking Shoe? This mid-cut hiker provides ample ankle support and features a waterproof breathable OutDry membrane for hiking in nasty conditions. The grippy Vibram sole and rubber reinforcements deal with rocky or slick terrain, and the Twin Lace speed system separately secures the fore and rear foot.
Bottom Line: Wears like a shoe, protects like a boot.

This is a great hiking shoe. Waterproofing is great. Required no break in. Feels great. Did 20 miles in two days (up and down mountains) with no blisters.I'm very happy with this shoe. I'm a 10.5 and went with the 11.

This shoe is an excellent hiker, and should make any owner happy. There is a reason is got best overall hiking boot/shoe from Backpacker magazine... This thing is really, really comfy and fits your foot like a glove. It feels light, and the Vibram performs well. The OutDry seems to work very well, though I haven't soaked it totally yet. One thing to note, for people who shop by look, it is chunkier than it looks, but I would say the "order half-size up" is accurate. Also, the coloring (at least in Dark Earth) is darker than that picture looked, but that doesn't really matter if you're just looking for performance (as I was). The only thing I remain skeptical on is the lacing...we'll see if the cords last.
