X 800 Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Synthetic

Mild weather can still be deadly if your sleeping bag doesn't keep you warm. Synthetic insulation keeps its loft no matter how wet it gets, and that can be a life-saver even on warm summer nights. Thermolite Micro insulation in Lafuma's X 800 40-degree synthetic bag insures against loft-killing moisture, while a full draft tube seals the length of the zipper against intruding wind. A small interior pocket has space for essentials, like the chewing gum you might need to fight morning camp breath.

Bottom Line: The Lafuma X 800 is your synthetic friend on mild nights.

Too narrow

Ever seen that "I'm too fat to be a hipster" video? Yeah. I'm 6', 6'6" if my wife is barefoot, and 240lb and this bag just didn't work out. If I could get it zipped up while in it then my arm(s) were stuck sticking out the of the top. If I did get them down, then I couldn't get them back up. Not a good plan when chaperoning middle schoolers at a festival... I still have nightmares.

Warmer mounths

This bag is very compact and light weight. It stuffs down a little bigger than the Lafuma X 600. It saves a lot of room and weight to your backpack. The bag can even fit into one's day pack. Im 6 foot and the bag was perfect for me. My only problem was that I woke up very cold in my tent. The temp was around in the mid 40's when I was awaken. I used this bag over the summer and it turned out to be great. What was pretty cool when it rained the bag still kept me warm in the summer and dried quickly. If one is looking for something light for the spring, summer, and fall mounths get this bag. But wear a thermal underneath in cooler temps.

No complaints, great bag

Like others have mentioned, this bag compresses down real small - I'd say slightly larger than a Nalgene bottle using the sack that comes with it. If you got a compression sack it'd be tiny. The zipper hasn't caught at all, so that's not a worry.

I haven't taken it out in cold enough weather to attest for the temperature rating, but I got it as a summer bag so it should be fine rated at 40 degrees.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I haven't fully tested it.

great bag

This bag is highly compressible. I took it on a 3 week trip to the middle east, camping in the desert at night can get quite chilly. My bag was the envy of everyone else in the group. Super lightweight. No problems with zipper etc.

Excellent summer bag, does it's job well

This sleeping bag is fantastic! It packs up very small and is very light. I use it for summer backpacking, travelling, and I keep it in my car just in case. It's also one of the most comfortable sleeping bags I've ever used!

Review Title

We bought two X800 (supposedly good to 40 degrees) and two X 1000 (supposedly good to 30 degrees) synthetic bags because we were going on a long backpack and needed a small, lightweight bag. The temperature got down, at it's coldest, to 46 degrees (I had a thermometer) and we were definitely cold even with all our clothes on in the bag, including a pile jacket and a hat. We weren't qat more than 2000' elevation. We had two adults and two teenagers and everyone was cold. These are nice bags but are quite liberally rated and I wouldn't use them in anything below 58 degrees.
