X 1000 Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Synthetic

Slip into the Lafuma X 1000 30-degree synthetic sleeping bag and catch z's with ease on a cold wet night. Thermolite Micro insulation keeps you warm even if it gets wet, so the X 1000 will save your behind should you take a spill crossing a stream or get caught out in the open during a storm. Synthetic doesn't mean super-heavy, either—the X 1000 tips the scales at a measly 2lb 4oz. That's a bargain when you consider the hypothermic alternative.

Bottom Line: Lafuma's X 1000—chaud après le deluge.

Good bag, a little cramped

By:

The Lafuma x1000 is warm and comfortable, relatively small and light, features an interior pocket and allows you to cinch the neck area to keep the warm in. There were a few things I didn't love about it though: the neck area can be uncomfortable due to the cinches and some velcro near the zipper, the zipper does not extend down to your feet (so if you sweat easily, you'll have wet feet in the morning), and the bag itself is not very roomy. So if you tend to move or stretch out when you sleep, you man not have enough space inside the bag. Overall I like the bag, but don't love it.

Purchased 2(wife/mine) weight and price were primary factors. Used them on Mt.Apo Philippines climb(trek). No problems. The low only reached 34 degrees but my wife(cold blooded) was actually sweating. After returning to the states we spent a night out at 26 degrees. I was fine,my wife put a base layer on and survived.Glad I got the bags

Awesome 3-Season Bag

By:
April 29, 2009

Having recently purchased the Lafuma 1000, I must say that it is the best sleeping bag I have ever owned. Lightweight and small in size when rolled, it fits nicely into my North Face Terra 60 storage sack with room even for a small pillow. I was worried at first that it might be a little too hot for warmer days, but this past weekend at Red River Gorge it was 65 degrees at night and the bag knocked off the chill but didnt suffocate me in heat.

For a mummy bag it's very roomy, and although it says the length is 6'6", mine measures all the way to 7'5" without any weight increase! The extra room is nice, especially for a guy like myself who sleeps on his stomach and wraps his arms underneath his head (the extra room allows my arms to remain covered under the hood).

Sleeping by a creek usually means a damp morning, and although the bag sucked up some mositure, it retained its warmth and didn't have me feeling like I was sleeping in a wet roll of paper towels. I would definitely recommend the Lafuma 1000 to anyone who needs a new 3-season bag.
