A down bag in the summer might seem like the recipe for human pot roast, but the Lafuma Warm ‘n Light 600 Down Sleeping Bag cuts nighttime chills without cooking you in your own juices. Ultralight, highly compressible down insulation provides warmth to 40F, and a breathable lining lets perspiration escape.

  • Ultralight 650-fill down insulation provides warmth to 40F
  • Draft tube prevents cold air from seeping in through the zipper
  • Soft Tactel lining breathes and wicks moisture
  • Down-insulated hood with drawcord traps heat around head
  • High down-to-feather ratio increases loft and warmth
  • Interior pocket holds alarm clock or headlamp

Bottom Line: Get down with summer.

Lafuma 40 Degree Down

By:
March 7, 2011

I love my sleeping bag! So light weight and barely takes up any space in packing. I take it with my hammock and spend most of the summer sleeping in the woods by the river.

A decent 45+ deg F bag that packs up tiny!

By:
July 21, 2010

I got a really good deal on this bag to supplement a 3 lb Marmot bag. It is what it is- a very light, very thin down bag. It's EN rated, so look at that NOT the 40 degree. It's warm enough for me for the summer, and it compresses to the size of a 1 L Nalgene bottle, perhaps even a bit shorter. I'm quite overweight but fit in it fine- on those warm summer nights it does the trick. Overall, I'm pleased with the bag and am very happy that it allows me to go light on warm summer trips.

heyy I got this bag off S&C a couple of days ago and was just curious if anyone knows what the larger nylon bag that came inside the stuff sack is? it has mesh on one side and is much larger then the stuff sack...?

anyway, just curious..

I haven't had a chance to use the sleeping bag yet, but it is light, and stuffs supper small.

The bigger sack is for storage when you're not using the bag between trips. It helps keep the down lofted and ventilated. If you're not using your bag now, that's where it should be living, not in the stuff sack.

Smallest bag, nice and toasty

By:
July 3, 2010

Only used the bag two nights and i'm happy. I sold my car camping gear and upgraded to actual backpacking grade gear. Super psyched. The bag is super light and tiny when compressed, and the down makes a big difference. I could see this bag being a bit too chilly for early spring/late fall, but with my russian heritage (i'm always exuding tons of heat and almost always sweat in my bag), i have no concern for it's ability to keep me warm. I was nice and toasty on an early summer eve. If you're a generally warm person, then i highly reccomend this bag...i mean, it packs just as small as my sleeping pad (if not smaller).

Pretty good

This bag is very thin. Also the stuff sack it comes with rates it more of a 50degree bag(for comfort). For a summer bag that is light and small in the pack this is a solid buy. If you get it on SAC, it's a steal.

Do these zip together? They offer left and right zips. Are they compatible with other models from Lafuma...like a similar women's bag?

Every Lafuma bag I have looked at said it was mate-able, but I am going to have to say you need two of the same bag. I just bought a Warm 'n Light 1000 to mate with my girlfriends GR 1400 Lady STM and the Zips are totally opposite. Needless to say we are both pretty bummed...

Cold'n Light

What a small bag - maybe 3/4 of a Nalgene and light as can be. The quality is very good, with nice features (glowing zip pulls, interior pocket, two draw pulls for the hood and chin side of the opening). It comes with a nice (maybe fragile) stuff sack and a storage bag for your closet a home.

The 40 degree rating is quite a stretch so be warned -- even at 45-50 degrees (Aspen in July) I was shivering. I noted cold spots at the shoulders and trunk area in particular and along the zipper (no baffle) even with heavy long underwear bottoms, a fleece, silk top and hat. The down layer is thin -- you can feel areas where the inner and outer nylon layers are in direct contact.

I would highly recommend this for a summer-weight ultra-light and ultra-small bag but don't push the rating - stick with 55+ if you can for a more comfortable night.

I'll likely try to push this bag a little further with a liner or golight quilt but this defeats the size/weight advantage. I'm also realizing that I'm an obligate side-sleeper and maybe happier with a quilt system or big agnes...we'll see.

Love this bag

This bag is very light and as others have said it compresses very small, two big positives for backpacking. Nice attention to details with a zipper pull cover, glow-in-the-dark zipper pull, etc. I crammed this bag into an extra-small Ultra-Sil stuffsack which is even lighter (and probably smaller) than the one it came with.Another plus is the nylon storage back that it comes with. All bags should come with a storage sack, whether nylon (like Lafuma) or cotton (REI).I slept very comfortably on the California coast with a 50F overnight low and thick fog. We had 2 adults and a kid in the dome tent but I didn't put on the rainfly. I didn't sleep in anything but underwear so I could have put on some clothes had I been chilly.I wouldn't want to push my luck and use it much below 50F without planning to wear more clothes or a liner, but I think that's just common sense. There felt like there was a good amount of room to squirm around and move my feet without being cramped. I'm about 5'11" and 190lb. and I usually sleep pretty warm.So far I'm extremely happy with this bag, and overjoyed at the very low Steep & Cheap price of under sixty bucks!

not very warm. it is light

i admit that i'm a cold sleeper, but when it's 55 and i'm so cold i have to pull a tarp over me despite a liner, long underwear, fleece and hat i'm not going to be satisfied. especially considering that the golite 20* quilt is the same weight. i also found it to be super restrictive in the knees and overly roomy in the torso, too narrow if you move your legs much in your sleep, and too big in the torso to retain enough heat.

i did use it in mexico in the summer (probably in the upper 60s at night) and was fine there...
