If you're looking for a daypack that goes with your organic cotton hiking shirt and shorts, grab the Lafuma Eco 28 Backpack. Lafuma made this lightweight pack out of recycled polyester fabric and included a ventilated, stretch hemp back system. The Eco back system includes wide vents, a steel rod frame, and 3D mesh side pads so this pack handles the weight of your day gear and air can circulate between your back and the pack. Side mesh gusseted pockets hold trail maps and water bottles, a zip pocket on the belt keeps a small digital camera at the ready, and the included rain cover helps protect your gear during summer showers.

Bottom Line: Put an earth-friendly pack on your back.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

not a school/work/laptop bag

this bag looked great on "paper" - waterproof, made from hemp and recycled plastic - but i'm returning it because it won't work for me for school/work. this is a backpacking pack made with thin, plastic fabric, one large main compartment and a frame - not very laptop friendly. it comes with a waterproof cover, as it is not waterproof on its own. it also doesn't look like it's made of hemp. the tag inside says "100% polyamide" and nothing that came with the bag mentions hemp at all. basically, this is a plastic backpacking bag, so if that's what you're looking for, great, but if it's not, pick something else. i am.

So you gave the pack only two stars because you bought the pack for a purpose it wasn't designed for?

So based on your logic and ill-advised review....if I bought a Honda Accord to go off-roading, I'd be disappointed too. I mean, on paper, it's got four wheels, doors, seats, and an engine so it should be able to do what a Wrangler could do...but it doesn't. Why? Because it wasn't built to go off-road and that is why people don't buy Accords to go off-roading! Just like this pack you bought wasn't designed to be a school/work/laptop bag.

Don't give something a bad rating because of your oversight. It's not fair to the product...or to Backcountry.
