Lace up the La Sportiva Men's Trango Alp GTX Boot for summer mountaineering trips or heavy-duty backpacking excursions. The waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex lining seals out the elements while breathing moisture, so your feet stay dry from start to summit. The leather and Lorica uppers feature a 3D Flex Ankle for mobile support on rocky approaches and technical pitches, and the Vibram sole and rand give you rock-shoe grip on all types of terrain. The rear TPU crampon reinforcement supports the boot when you strap on your spikes for a glacier crossing.

Bottom Line: A versatile alpine boot that walks the line between mountaineering and heavy hiking.

how do these compare to the Trango S EVO boots? stats read that they are lighter. Do they still have full shank? lace lock off? lateral ankle immobilization?

they are not lighter...just a very slight amount heavier but not noticable...maybe an ounce per boot? they are the same boot as the Trango S EVO's but have an entire leather upper versus the synthetic (thats where the bit of extra weight comes in)...other than that the contruction is the same...same design just a bit beefier and more durableAbove is true but real difference is the stiffness Trango S evo have a 3/4 rigid sole and the GTX are fully rigid. ie better for steeper climbing ice/rockThe nylon shank provides good stiffness but not like steel. Good crampon boot however.

My feets are very picky when it comes to boots. Normally I have to break new boots in, unless I want blisters. I bought these boots for a "10 summits over 6500 feets in 10 hours" trip me and some friends had been planing for a few months since my old ones was asking for retirement. I kinda ordered them a little too late so I only tried them on for a short 2 mile trip up and down a hill where I live. So I was a bit anxious when we set out on our "epic" daytrip... My worries was soon forgotten as he boots proved themself worthy over and over. They where extremely good on the foot, they performed wonderful on rocky parts of the trip, they where brilliant when climbing or walking over the thinnest edges, they matched my step-in crampoons perfect when passing glaciers. Of course we all had legs like jelly when we finally came back to the cabin after 15 hours of walking and climbing but not near the fatigue Ive felt with other boots before. Besides all of my friends had longer recovery the following days than I had, and some of the credit I will give the boots. For these kind of trips they where absolutely perfect. I have already decided to buy another pair to have when these babies are worn out. Go get a pair before I buy them all... tyty LaSportiva.
