    Banish boulder woes.

You're known as a problem-solver extraordinarie, so it's only fitting your favorite climbing shoe is the La Sportive Women's Solution Vibram XS Grip2 Climbing Shoe. Made for women's feet, which tend to be narrower, straighter, and occupy less volume than their male counterparts, this downturned shoe will cause the corners of your mouth to turn up with joy, and the high degree of asymmetry lets your toes wiggle into hooks previously uncatchable with other shoe bait.

The Lorica synthetic leather upper might relax a bit once it gets to know you (just keep that in mind for shoe sizing). The P3 (Permanent Power Platform) keeps this shoe on point and helps it maintain its aggressive downturned silhouette. A robust rubber toe cap keeps your digits dancing, and the whiff of lining up there doesn't dampen sensitivity. Hook your heel on just about anything with the combination of a molded 3-D heel cup and Lock Harness System. With this much power from your heel, your arms won't feel like overcooked spaghetti at the end of the day.

The Vibram XS Grip2 sole takes rigid and sticky to new heights. The 1.1mm LaspoFlex midsole only lives under your toes for an extra hit of torsional rigidity when you need a firm footing to continue your upward trajectory. The Fast Lacing System combines thin webbing and a solo hook-and-loop closure flap to hasten the time it takes to get ready to rock. From overhung boulders to steep sport routes, the Solution addresses most issues before they turn into full-blown problems.

The gift that keeps on climbing

My climbing partner ran through her pair of shoes and was so sad that I got her a pair so that she could keep climbing with me. Friends that climb together support each other <3
somethings she likes about the shoes are the toe box and how down turned they are. she climbs a lot of steep stuff and needs the extra talons to stay on the tiny foot jibs.

Perfect edging, not too aggressive - I could wear this on sport multi-pitches if I needed to. Great Maple Canyon shoe or sport climbing in Wild Iris. I've also used these in Rifle and Smith Rocks - very effective on every type of rock (Granite, Basalt, Tufts, Conglomerate, Limestone)

The only shoe I boulder in!

Seriously I've burned through three pairs of these babies and every new pair I get is just as amazing as the one before! They fit my super narrow foot and very high arch and can heel hook anything! I did however have to downsize quite a bit (38.5) from the size that I wear in the Muiras(40) to get the aggressive fit I was looking for. Oh and they are super comfy in the toe box, a lot of other aggressive shoes kill my toes.

    Awesome shoes

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 37.5

Got to test drive these in a bouldering session for overhangs. I gotta say these are very precise and sensitive to small foot holds. It definitely allowed me to try harder problems that day. Unfortunately, the 37.5 seems to have a bit of room on the heel. Street size I'm 7.5. So I plan on getting 37.

    A Better Solution

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small

These shoes take much from the classic, proven design of the standard Solution whilst reducing the overall volume and increasing the beauty of any male or female's feet (normally such a horrid, alien looking part of the body) by including the stylish and totally androgynous pink/magenta color.

The lower profile has made toe hooking much more secure for me. Previous iterations of the Solution didn't eliminate all the dead volume in the shoe which seemed fine for toe-ing down, but toe hooks suffered as a result. This concern has largely been addressed. Try these out if you have really skinny feet and know an aggressive profile works for you.

    Solutions!

I gifted these to my sister, this is what she had to say

I bought these after blowing out a pair of 5.10 hi-angles and decided to try them out. I previously had a pair of miuras and loved how much cushion there was in the shoe. These were no different....compared to 5.10s they are way more comfortable but I have had some problems with them. Inside the shoe by my pinky toe, the fabric on the seam is not cut properly therefore overlaps and hangs off providing unnecessary friction on my left foot. The right shoe doesn't have this problem. Also the heel cup seems really big and I have trouble performing heel hooks. Overall the shoes are cushiony but not my favorite.

    A win!

I got these climbing shoes for my sister. She has had multiple pairs from all different brands and she keeps coming back to these ones. She really enjoys the fit. She reports that the heels never slip and if they do, you just aren't strong enough. She loves how the rubber wraps over the toe because if you are toe hooking it doesn't peel back. Her only concern with them is that the straps sometimes break. But it must not be toooo big of a deal because like I said she keeps comin back for more! She wears a 5.5 size street shoe and got the 34.5 in these climbing shoes.

Love these shoes :) they fit like a perfectly sized glove, my BF suggested I get a size down and I did, and though they are toe pinching tight now I can feel that they will break in nicely. I have never had an aggressive shoe before but they already feel so good on over hangs!

    So good

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These shoes are awesome. I have tried the Solutions in the past (men's) and they just never worked for me...the heel felt loose and the upper part of the shoe was never tight enough for me. I finally got a chance to try on these shoes at my gym to compare the men's versus the women's and there is a pretty noticeable difference. The smaller shoe volume and tighter heel cup fit my foot almost perfectly and they are the most comfortable pair of aggressive shoes I have worn so far. I am a huge fun and definitely recommend these shoes to anyone with a smaller foot volume and/or narrow foot. They perform very well outdoors for bouldering and the shoe build and materials are top notch quality. I wear a men's 9.5 street shoe and bought these in size 41.0. They have not really stretched and they are super comfortable...a little tight to pull on, but a very comfortable fit that doesn't scrunch my toes. Get a pair!

    Incredible shoes, deep heel cup.

LADY SOLUTIONS! I've dragged these shoes with me everywhere from Ceuse, France to Kalymnos, Greece to Pöstin, Iceland to Joes Valley and Moab here in Utah. They've excelled on limestone, sandstone, quartzite, basalt, and volcanic tuff.

I guess I was on some sort of masochist kick when I decided what size to buy in these puppies-- I’m normally a women’s size 8.5 or 9 (EUR 40) but I sized down to a size 7.5 (EUR 38.5) for fear of them stretching out. The break in process was vicious, but the end result was tolerable. The uppers did stretch, but I found that the back of the shoe crushed my achilles tendons for the first few weeks I climbed in them. When I buy my next pair, I'll go for a EUR 39.

I have comically low-volume feet with long toes, and all too frequently I find myself swimming in most Velcro style climbing shoes. Such was not the case with the Solutions-- I had almost no dead space anywhere in the the front and midsole of the shoes, but I will echo many other climbers in saying the heel cup was a bit too large, which is an impediment to performing powerful heel hooks. When it comes to edging and toe hooks, the shoe is responsive and precise. The women's Solutions are a bit softer than the original Solutions, which makes them fantastic for smeary moves on small feet. The rubber is fantastic. I'm serious, you feel like you can stick to any crappy little foothold in these.

All in all: get these shoes if you have slender feet and want to feel like a ninja when you climb routes or problems with precarious footwork. Size down a liiiiittle (perhaps one EUR size), but don't go crazy or you'll feel like you're about to throw up or yell at someone when you put them on, and remember that the heel cup is not everyone's cup of tea.

    Great Shoes

I bought these for my wife. She really likes them. I personally think they look cooler than any other women's shoe I have seen. They are as aggressive as it gets. I've seen her use the tiniest little edges with them. The sizing was hard, but the folks at backcountry.com gave great advice which helped me get the right size the first time. My wife said that they were really tight at first, but have now stretched to be perfect. The shipping was crazy fast as well which is always a plus! So, with the help of my gear head, I was actually able to get my wife something that we didn't end up just returning- huge accomplishment for any man.

    Great Shoes

    One Of my Favorites

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely love these shoes! I feel like they are good for anything and they last a long time! I climb slab, vertical, and overhanging stuff in them and they are pretty good on all! I have tried a slab project in a shoe made for slab and couldn't climb it until I put these shoes on but I wouldn't get them for slab climbing! I love toe hooking and heel hooking in these. I usually wear a size 6.5 shoe and buy a size 35 in these!

The only down side to this shoe is that the strap that you use for tightening breaks but you can always find a way to fix it or tie it back together!

    Terrific climbing shoe..and cute too!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 35.5

I plunged for a pair of these, and i am not looking back. They grip so well, and make a huge difference bouldering, smearing and just about doing anything with them.

The issue of course, is sizing. How much do they need to hurt when you buy them before they stretch the right amount? I have a small foot, but a bit wide. My street shoe is 6-6.5 (true european 36-36.5), and i bought a 35.5. This is very tight on me after many uses still, and my toes are crunched in. I was recommended as low as 34.5 - i couldn't even put my foot in that size.

I have actually just reordered the shoe in a 36 because i can't keep mine on between climbs or stand for any length of time in them. So if your foot is a little wide, be mindful and try the next size up.

    Great for Bouldering

I love these shoes. At first they were a little tight. I ordered the same size as my La Sportiva Miurra shoes because I figured that they would be the same size since it is the same brand. Luckily I was right! At first they felt really tight, but after wearing them a few times they fit very well. I got a size 37 in these shoes, and I wear a size 7 street shoe, and I can sometimes fit into a 6.5 in certain brands. I brought them to a Reservoir in Utah where I was able to deep water solo. This was probably the best way to break in the shoes, because I needed them to stretch out a little since they were not super comfortable out of the box. I love them for bouldering because they are very aggressive, but I use them for all types of climbing, and they seem to be holding up great for me!

    Favorite Bouldering Shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

LOVE this shoe for bouldering. For the aggressive nature of the shoe, I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they were. Great rubber, a bit thick, but after I got used to it, I can say I feel comfortable edging on even the smallest of holds. Great for steep climbing. Only thing I would change is the heel - makes for a tricky heel hook in certain situations. But all-in-all, my favorite bouldering shoe I've owned.

I downsized in this shoe SUBSTANTIALLY, as I found they stretched a great deal.

I believe I am a size and a half smaller than my Miura size (which is pretty true to my shoe size, maybe a half size smaller).

Took a few pitches, but now I like em.

I typically climb in TC Pros for pretty much everything, but these were given to me and have since been loving them for sport routes. These are smaller than my TC Pros and I've had to adjust to that, but after a few sessions I've been feeling really comfortable in these. They are soft, grippy, and have adjusted to my feet really well. I have a wider foot, but I feel like they still fit great. For sure took some time getting used to downsizing, but happy with them for a high performance sport climbing shoe.

    Hi,
How many EU sizes would you recommend downsizing from you street shoe size. More specifically, I am a street shoe size EU 38 and am an EU 37.5 in the 5.10 dragons. What size would you recommend getting for the solutions?

    Unanswered Question

Hi, I currently have pair of evolv elektra in size 10.5. My first shoe, super comfortable but I feel like I've reached the limits of what I can get out of that shoe. I climb 3-4 times a week indoors, very rarely outdoors. I have two questions about this shoe: 1) I have extremely narrow feet, they're long, hence the big size but very narrow. The elektras pucker up at the velcro. Anyone have any thoughts on how these would compare? 2) I'm vegan so my choices are limited to synthetic shoes, It's not clear whether the synthetic lorica is the only material on these or whether they also contain real leather? Cheers!

    Hi,

Im looking for a new pair of shoes. I own a pair of 5.10s in the womens size 8 (i'm an 8.5 runner) and theyve just about kicked the bucket.

I had a pair of gesheidos, but they were far too aggressive and my toes would come out white from the compression (i have weird toes).

Are these shoes as aggressive/stiff as gesheidos?

    I also have a slim foot (D).

Any suggestions will be much appreciated!!!

I'm not familiar with the Gesheidos, but I also have a slim, low volume foot and these work great for me. Compared with with the Scarpa Vapor V's which were my last shoes, these are sooo comfortable on my toes. They are very aggressive, but extremely comfortable with hardly any break in. Definitely turn your toes down a bit, but not pinching or uncomfortable. I'm a women's 9.5 and got the 39.0

Does anyone know if the heel on these is smaller then the mens solutions?

I'm looking to upgrade my Women's Vapor V's (Scarpa) to Solutions but I'm wondering what size to get. I know the Vapor V's run super small (I have a 41.5 and couldn't have gone smaller but I think my older shoes were more like a 39.5 - 40ish). I wear a 9.5 street shoe. Any advice on the conversion? This is kind of a weird question...

Just an update if anyone is in a similar situation... I ended up with the 39.0 and they fit perfectly! So comfortable and hardly any break in. They also turn my feet hot pink which is pretty cool (I'm expecting this will go away after more wear if you're not as big a fan of pink feet as I am). I'm smearing on things and sticking my toes on invisible nubs I never thought I could use as feet. Slight tradeoff, the sticky rubber is definitely softer than the rubber on my Scarpa Vapor V's so the toe is wearing faster, but not ridiculous. I'm guessing I'll need a resole after about 6 months of climbing 3-4 days a week. Definitely worth it though for the stickiness.

Im a man with annoyingly narrow feet, in my first pair of Solutions I had to do the buckle up so that only half of it was on the velcro. I was planning on getting these instead but should I get the same size as the mens? so do I have to go bigger
