Love them dearly

I got these shoes when I first started trail running. I am buying a second pair now that they've lived out their life. [NOTE: If I had not used them as water shoes during a sea-kayaking section of a NOLS trip in Australia they would still be usable. Unfortunately, I needed shoes with a thick sole to protect my feet from cone shells and sting rays so I opted to use these since the water shoes I had brought were unsuitable.]
To the point:
I ran in these shoes all over at campus and on trails in New Hampshire, on the road at home in NY, on wet slippery cobble stones in Edinburgh, Scotland, and all over Australia. They were great on the road, on the trail and in the sand.
I sometimes would wear them instead of my hiking boots in NH. I know this wasn't the safest idea for my ankles, but as a testament to the shoe they got me up 4,315 to the top of Mt. Osceola in snowy, icy slippery conditions. I didn't need yak traks and never slipped with these shoes.
They really are amazing. I never slipped ever and never hurt my toes or anything. They are the best (at least to me)! I just wish they were smaller or "squishable" so they took up less space when I take them traveling. Still, I will continue to take them around the world with me traveling one run and one country at a time. :)
The photo is them in Surfer's Paradise, QLD, Australia.
Yay for winter running!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I just got these shoes for winter running. I'm psyched about the gore-tex. They are a stiff shoe, so don't expect them to be soft and cushy. I am between a 7 & a 7 1/2 usually and I got a 7 1/2. I wish the toebox was a little wider, but I got a sweet deal on them so I couldn't resist. You can run some gnarly trails in these shoes.
Best Shoe Ever!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times

My boyfriend and I have been both wearing the La Sportiva Wildcat GTX for years. I needed a new pair and decided to try the Raptor GTX this time. After one use (12 miles, 4,500 vert with a lot of fairly gnarly 3rd class), I bought him a pair of Raptors from Backcountry that same night.
We have taken our Raptors on four 14ers now and both absolutely LOVE them. Best shoe ever! Fit and feel is great. Performance is outstanding. Look and colors are sweet. The next time either of us need a new pair of trail / hiking shoes, we will both be sticking with Raptor GTX! (Please don't ever stop making these, La Sportiva!)

I've been running in these all winter, in all conditions and I'm very happy with them! for deep snow days i throw a gaiter on over them, and I pretty much always wear them with Yaktrax because I hate slipping in the snow. They are definitely not a good road shoe - these are trail only.
