Nice shoe, just too narrow...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

Initial impressions are that this is one sweet shoe, quality workmanship and materials are obvious. I took this shoe for a few trail runs and they performed great. The only major setback is that they are far too narrow. I really tried to make them work but they killed my feet and had to send them back unfortunately. My feet are wider than most but by no means unusually wide. Wish they were offered in a wider size. That is the only reason I gave them four stars.

Solid Shoe

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have been wearing Salomon shoes for the last 14 years. I have narrow feet for a size 12US. The sole of this shoe is very good. Has excellent traction and absorbs shock well for being light weight. Uppers are waterproof as advertised and don't overheat for me. The lacing works well and can lock your foot in to the point where it would be very difficult to remove without untying. I do miss the quick-lace system from Salomon though.

Sizing was spot on for me. Just picked the correct EU size and ordered them. Fit perfect.

For a waterproof trail running shoe these were the best I could find.

Must Have!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I bought these for my boyfriend after my first day in my new pair of Raptor GTXs. We both LOVE these shoes and are both happy to have made the switch from the Wildcat GTX (still a great shoe itself). We have taken our Raptors on four 14ers and can't wait to take them on more big hikes / climbs. They perform well on the way up, on the way back down, and on all types of terrain. We just hope La Sportiva makes these forever!

Great shoe

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It's a heavy shoe (but lighter than similar shoes in other brands). Offers awesome grip and protection from the elements. They are very comfortable and perform extremely well. I have used them for hiking trips as well as trail running. You wont regret it if you purchase them. I purchased the same size as I do with other shoes, they are true to size.

Great shoe

not bad, I do recommend

  • Gender: Male

I also own the regular version of the Raptors and I found the Gortex version to not be as comfortable. Still the grip these shoes provide is amazing. I highly recommend these shoes in wet slippery conditions. I have run through creek beds with these shoes and while others were timid I was able to plow through no problem. The toe guard can rub especially on my longer runs, but they have saved my toes from some major stubbing action on nearly all of my runs.

not bad, I do recommend
