A tank of a boot for your backpacking trips into the most rugged corner of the state.

The tough, ankle-saving leather upper on the La Sportiva Women's Pamir Backpacking Boot lends support and structure to your steps—even with a planet-sized pack on your back. Not only does the high-top leather upper prevent ankle rolls and sprains, but it's water repellent to protect your toes when the alpine decides to surprise you with gray clouds.

  • The women-specific last shapes the boot to better fit your foot
  • A soft, breathable leather lining adds comfort while also increasing the upper's support and water-resistance
  • A Vibram Sasslong rubber outsole grips wet, rocky, and unpredictable trail conditions
  • The Impact brake system in the heel supports your foot and improves control while descending steep trails with a heavy pack
  • For support, the seven millimeter Trangoflex insole structure allows flex and protects against buckling for an excellent feel on the trail
  • The PU lite and EVA foam midsole cushions your steps for long jaunts into the more mysterious regions of the map

These boots are made for.....conquering!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 4"
    Weight: 108 lbs
    Size Purchased: 36.5

I generally love La Sportiva, so when i needed a stiffer pair of hiking/mountaineering boots, i chose the Pamir (i tried several different ones). My foot is slightly wide for its size, and these boots provided me with the best fit off the bat.

What i love about them:
1) they crush it on talus and scree. I hike a lot around Telluride, which is talus central, and with these boots on, i don't feel the rocks at all, the ankles are super well protected from twisting, and also from talus/scree hitting them
2) they are stiff and perform fabulous on rocky and uneven terrain
3) they are relatively light given how sturdy they are
4) they are surprisingly waterproof - i used them in snow and rain and while the outside was wet, my foot was dry inside
5) the break in period is short as the leather is excellent quality, i only had a pressure point pain once on a really long day

For easier days - shorter hikes, limited talus/scree, friendlier terrain, i would however choose a lighter and more flexible boot over this one.

Views of Alta lakes and the Wilsons group, Telluride.

Best Boots I've Owned

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

A fantastic boot deserves a detailed review, so here we go: My main intention for these boots was to purchase something that would be stiff enough to provide enough superb ankle support, yet still comfortable and light enough to wear for long stretches. La Sportiva completely nailed it with these boots which is no easy feat. They are everything I could have hoped for and then some. The soft leather on the lining and upper allows these to fit like a glove to your foot and provides easy on easy off access when cinching up the laces. With a little bit of waxing and conditioning here and there, I have no doubt that the leather will stay supple and last for years to come.
I've put about 20 miles in these so far (between backpacking and day hiking) and haven't had any issues with blistering or discomfort which is astonishing. My heel stays perfectly secure in them. These are water repellent right up to the top of the shaft, so river crossings and hiking through snow is a breeze. To dry them out once you're done hiking, simply remove the liners and lay them upside down near a sunny spot and they'll dry quickly. The break in period for these is relatively short which is an added bonus. Make sure and take your time folding the leather on the tongue in and cinching up the laces narrowly enough for the best fit. I wear anywhere from a size 7.5 to an 8 depending on the boot. I purchased an 8 in these, anticipating Sportiva's typical narrow fit in the toebox. However I found these to run true to size and definitely not nearly as narrow as their approach and climbing shoes run. Would highly recommend these boots to anyone looking for a solid backpacking boot. If you have any questions on sizing or product specs, feel free to ask for me on chat anytime!

Take your time and ease into awesome.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

These boots are burley, mountain crushing, water deflecting, hiking monsters. They will do everything you ask and long as you give them a proper break in time. No really, take your time breaking them in and you will be rewarded with an amazing boot. Once my boots had broken in ( no kidding like 50 miles) I felt like I could take on the world. The last runs just a bit narrower than my previous la sportiva boots. These boots are stiff and made to support a heavy pack. I have stomped through ankle deep water with out any issues. I'm typically an 8.5 but did order a 9 in these shoes. Overall if you want serious backpacking boots that will last a while, look at these boots.

fit like a glove!!!!

  • Fit: True to size

I was skeptical in buying a pair of backpacking boots over the internet, but thanks to the folks at, they provided excellent and accurate service, in helping me find the right boot. these boots out of the box are very comfortable and do not have that pinchy toe box feeling like some boots do. They also grip my heel great. I am using them for hunting in rugged areas in wyoming and the mountains of oregon, I will post as soon as this weekend as to how they performed. the ankle support is amazing as well. I am very excited to strap on a heavy backpack full of game meat and give them a try!!!
