    Reach new heights.

Ever since your climbing gym ran a locals-only special, that's your life: you climb, climb, and then climb some more, ruing your mammal status and wishing you were an arachnid. Whether you're a sport climbing virgin or on a first-name basis with the crew at your gym, the La Sportiva Oxygym Climbing Shoe gives you all-day comfort and the confidence necessary to experience some highs off the ground.

Synthetic material tends to stretch less than leather, so the fit you feel from the first time is not too different from the fit you'll get after several weeks of wear. Minimal asymmetry and a neutral profile make it easy to wear this grippy shoe for hours on end whether you're working on slabby under-vert or slightly over-vert problems. The round toe accommodates a variety of surfaces, be it a top-rope line at the gym or rock outside. The patented hook-and-loop closure system gives you two points of adjustment for a highly personal fit as well as the ability for rapid outfit changes. Slip-lasted construction takes away a bit of the stiffness so your wait for the wall isn't a foot-wrenching experience.

FriXion RS rubber on the bottom is the stickiest sole La Sportiva offers. AirTex Silver lining manages foot moisture and minimizes shoe stink by creating an environment hostile to odor-causing bugs. The 1.8mm LaspoFlex midsole gives this shoe a thin shot of torsional rigidity while offering some cushion from below, and an anti-shock EVA heel insert means walking on flat land isn't total torture. Triple-layer WashTex fabric lets you throw this shoe in the machine when it starts to walk towards the car on its own.

    Solid all-around gym shoe.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I mostly boulder and am at the gym 2-3 times a week, so I had been looking for an inexpensive gym shoe that I could relatively comfortably keep on my feet for a long session, and the oxygym does a respectable job.

    The good
    - The shoe fits well, I had to size down from my street size, but I have to do that for all Sportiva shoes
    - The strapping system may be the best on any shoe I've used; it hugs my foot nicely. They really need to put these straps on the solutions and futura
    - Breathes well, which is huge plus for a gym shoe
    - All synthetic makes it simple and easy to wash
    - Colourful. Yeah, they look pretty spiffy :)

    The mixed
    - FriXion rubber. A harder rubber than Vibram. Will last longer, but also doesn't stick like Vibram.
    - Rigid, these are not soft shoes, if that's what you're after. Performance on little chips is good and distributes more of the weight, but sensitivity and feel is lessened. Granted, I haven't had these shoes for too long, so I don't know how much they'll soften up.
    - Not aggressive. Fine if you're into a more relaxed shoe, and makes it more comfortable to generally leave on, but I was expecting a little better performance for bouldering.

    The bad
    - loose heal. Maybe it's just the shape of my foot, but I can pull my heel out of the shoe while it's strapped in without too much difficulty.
    - No toe rand: toe hooks are kinda useless. I struggle with toe hooks and bat hangs that would be trivial in solutions or sharks.

Overall a good shoe for gym climbing. If you're trying not to blow a lot of money going through nice shoes at the gym, then the OxyGym is an attractive option.

I believe they'd make an excellent beginner shoe. They're inexpensive, good all-around, and built to take a beating while refining climbing technique.

    A good climbing shoe

I'm new to climbing and with these being my first climbing shoes I've bought, I have to say I'm very pleased with my purchase. I was looking for more in the comfy area and these climbing shoes do the trick. Also, the bottom of these shoes give you great traction and give you the confidence you need.

      New to climbing...

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 9

new to climbing. started about 6 months ago. i bought these shoes after hand-me-down la sportiva nagos that were 9.5. i've worn the oxy's to the climbing gym for months now and they're great. they are definitely better than the nagos but after having them and getting more aggressive with my climbing, leading and bouldering, i'm happy with them but will definitely need a more aggressive shoe.

size wise, these fit snug at 9 (42). that're perfect though. i'd recommend a half size smaller just to make sure you can really feel small chips, etc.

i started to just walk from route to route in these and then it finally dawned on me why so many climbers are barefoot or in flops and only put them on to climb. my feet got so fatigued being crunched up that it now makes sense. these are just the things you learn from experience!

      good stuff.

      No more stinky shoes.

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are awesome for the gym. The AirTex lining keep the moisture away, which helps with stink, But if they get super stinky the inside of the shoe is washable. wouldn't recommend them for outside climbing though.

      Rubber Soul Separating from Shoe

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

Thought this shoe was great being my first climbing shoe until after 1 month of gym climbing 4 times a week(bouldering at momentum in Lehi) when the rubber started separating from the shoes.. Love La Sportiva but this was disappointing.. Lucky they should be covered under warranty.

      Awesome Shoes

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Took these babies out of the box and put them straight to work. they are by far the best climbing shoes i have ever owned. I was concerned about the velcro at first, but quickly began to change my mind. the grip on these shoes are a 10 out of 10.

      Sizing opinion

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 40

Contrary to Eric's review, I sized down a whole size and it was very snug! Probably best to stick to your normal size or a half size down. I had to return them but I plan on going for another size once I find the time to climb.

      Sportiva

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 42.5

So I started climbing almost 2 months ago, and decided to finally buy a good shoe because the rental ones are just terrible. Noticed an immediate difference, and I feel a lot more confident with my foot holds and toe holds. I would recommend these to any beginner. I was able to do some 4's with the rentals, but at a struggle. I feel like these shoes will make me a more dynamic climber.

      Disappointing

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I've climbed outside in Miura's for years, but haven't wanted to "waste" an expensive shoe like that in the gym, so I was thrilled to find a La Sportiva shoe for a reasonable price. I've been very disappointed in these. I've worn them for weeks, they are still very stiff, the rubber isn't sticky at all, and no matter how tight I pull the velcro, within a few moves, they feel loose on my feet. I'm currently using them for warming up on easy routes, and I switch to an old pair with big holes in the toes for working on harder routes, that's how bad it is. I'm back on the Backcountry site looking for something else.

gets you up the wall in style.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 38.5

these are my 2nd pair of climbing shoes, and so far they are not slowing me down on getting up the wall.
these shoes do fit a little bit tighter then my last evolve shoes. but i think i just need to break these in a little bit more.
it looks/feels like there is more rubber on the toe, so it seems like it is going to last alot longer. these are really easy to slip on and off in between your climbs.
I got the 38.5 (6.5 Mens) i normally wear a 7.5 normal shoe. i like my shoes to be tight and these shoes fit me snugly, so its easier to get up the wall.

      Great Gym Shoe

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 45.5

I've used this shoe for over 3 months now and it provides great grip for my feet. The shoe fits mostly true to size, I could have used a bit smaller but these are comfortable to wear for extended gym sessions. They could be a bit more breathable but I have sweaty feat anyway so there isn't much that helps besides some flip flops! I recently washed them and they cleaned right up and the rubber was just as grippy as the first day that I used them. I would recommend to a friend for sure! Happy Climbing :)

      Great Gym Shoe

      My first climbing shoe!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: Runs large

I heard this shoe is great for someone who is starting to learn so that is why I got them. I have a size 12 shoe and I got the 45, according to our size chart that corresponds to a size 11.5. After climbing with them for a few weeks I realized they are a little big in the toe. I feet slip off tiny foot hold. If I were to purchase them again I would get a full size smaller.

I have only used them for indoor climbing and aside from the sizing issues they have been pretty good. The heel has a ton of grip and is excellent for heel hooks and getting technical.

My only qualm is the straps are a pain some times. I can be a little OCD at times and don't like it when the straps are all twisted up. I have to readjust them and untwist them every time I put them on.

      The Softest of Rubber

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 38.5

I bought this shoe for one reason, to wear into the ground. La Sportiva has super soft rubber that really bites into rock. However, in my experience, La Sportiva climbing shoes break down faster due to the soft rubber. I work at a climbinggym that rents the La Sportiva Oxygyms and people love them. I think part of it is because they fit pretty true to size for a non aggressive shoe. If you don't climb frequently you could probably get away with the Oxygym in your street shoe size or a half size larger. Even a non aggressive shoe should fit pretty snug on the foot. The nice thing about La Sportiva is the rubber stretches and you can actually break the shoe in before it breaks your foot in! I wear a W's US 9 in my street shoe and I bought this shoe in an EU 38.5 (which correlates to a US W's 7.5). I've worn a lot of uncomfortable climbing shoes and the calluses on my toes reflect that. I wouldn't recommend sizing down 1 1/2 sizes in this shoe for everyone. Overall, this is a great beginners or gym shoe! I won't be using it for much outside, overhung or pumpy!

      The Softest of Rubber

Great For Crack, Soft for anything else

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

Took these shoes to an indoor crack climbing lesson and loved them They flex lots and really let your foot twist and mold well. The rubber on the toe is very protective. Gym climbing top rope and lead routes though, I found them to be too soft and lacking the aggressive edge you need for more overhung routes. Overall a good shoe to have in an arsenal but a little too climb specific for offseason indoor climbing

      Fits true to size

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 11.5

I wear 11.5 shoes and these fit perfectly in the same size. I have wide hobbit feet and as a result I wanted something that would conform to my feet a bit better than my thinner mythos. What I really like about these is that I can now nail outside edging perfectly as the sole is that bit wider hence no toe overlap on the edge. The shoe is more aggressive than Mythos (but not painfully so). On the downside, I have found that they do not breathe like the Mythos so the sweat stays inside the shoe. In 80F heat you'll find that you'll slide inside the shoe after a couple of hours of cragging. Answer: Take off the shoes for a while !! However the positive is that the shoe is comfortable enough to keep it on all the time !! :-)

If you're doing a size comparison to Mythos: Mythos=10.5UK/11.5US/44EU, Oxygym=10.5UK/11.5US/45EU

There is a discrepancy between the EU sizes for some reason. Both fit me the same. Mythos have stretched though.

Price-wise, I think they are good value.

      Deep Water Solo Shoes

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large
      • Size Bought: 40

I have used these shoes all summer specifically for deep water soloing and they have been perfect water climbing shoes. They are really comfortable shoes and super quick to put on and tighten up on the fly. I decided that I wanted a more roomy shoe so I purchased my regular shoe size(41) but they were too big so I dropped down a whole size to a size 40 and still have a good bit of room - keep this in mind!

I have not used this in a gym setting but I can see that it could be a great gym rat shoe because you can wash them! Pretty awesome.

Give me a shout if you are looking at these shoes.

      Deep Water Solo Shoes

      I purchased too big :/

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 41.5

Hey, so no one told me that when you climb you scrunch your toes and loose almost an inch in foot length. So now when I climb these are about an inch too big. Ask a climber to help you pick shoes. It changed my world. Anyway, other than the fact these are huge and I have to find a way to sell them, theyre nice shoes for your basic first time climbers. I am saying they run small because your size will probably feel tight, but thats actually good. Scrunch your toes! Ps I normally where a 40 and I got the 41.5 (toes not scrunched). I tried on a 39 and its perfect.
