Jam splitters at the Creek, climb big walls in Yosemite, or clip bolts at your local crag—the La Sportiva Mythos is down for climbing anytime, anywhere. As one of Sportiva’s best-selling shoes, the Mythos features an unlined leather upper and innovative lacing system that help the shoe conform to any foot shape foot for the perfect fit. The perforated rubber rand allows for comfortable stretch on long multi-pitch routes, and the low-profile toe slides easily into cracks. And for glassy footholds and other issues of friction, Sportiva outfitted the Mythos with super-sticky Vibram XS rubber.

Bottom Line: A classic, all-around climbing shoe that excels at cracks and long-days on the wall.

these are my main shoes i use and i love them to death, the lacing system really helps (i have feet that dont like fitting in many shoes climbing or not) but these are great. they really do stretch so buy them small and then watch as your next couple gym trips stretch them into a shoe that feels like another skin. not downward facing or cupped like the sportiva solutions but then again thats not what theyre for, just worth mentioning, and i find they slide into a crack nicely, pretty good looking too

Comfy

My absolute favorite thing about these shoes was how they fit, and how the lacing worked. They are longer and narrower than other shoes I've used, and did stretch out. But the lacing system on them can be adjusted to get the fit perfect. In the end they have been my favorite all day shoes. I've spent hours in them at gyms and outside. They held an edge pretty well, really liked how they smeared. For higher performance I prefer the Miuras, but you really can't go wrong with these ones.

Mythos

Great all day shoe. I know so many people that climb with these, so I gave them a try for a solid weekend of climbing. The can be very comfortable, or fairly aggressive. I had them sized down half a size, and found them to be comfortable after a little time in them. The rubber was really nice, smeared super well. Held a decent edge, but not as good as some shoes I have tried. Since I'm still a little new to the game, I can't offer a good comparison between 5.10 and La Sportiva shoes, it's just what works best for you. Heel hooking was good in the Mythos. The heel was really tight in this shoe for my foot, which is a little wider, and gripped me in nice. It also seemed to put power to my big toe in an almost perfect way for my foot size.

Form Fitting

By:

These shoes form to your feet like a glove. They will stretch for sure. My foot measures 11" and I wear a 41.5. I wear these comfortable but tight. If you want them to stretch a bit more you can get them wet and climb in them until they dry. The rubber is good and they edge will good. I wear them on multi-pitch trad climbs.

Very Comfortable

By:
February 1, 2010

I hate climbing shoes that tighten down too much on my toes - the mythos do not do this and still provide for a very snug fit that allows for a very sensitive and sticky grip.

I can and have worn these all day - great shoes. They kinda look a bit like Indian slippers. 2 seasons deep and they are holding up very well.

Hands down best crack climbing shoe out there! Comfy and yet still has precision edging ability and the heel lace wrap ensures optimum fit.

Size down...

By:
December 10, 2009

Upgraded to these from the La Sportiva Cliff. They're a lot more sensitive and more sticky.

I read various places about sizing these down but still was nervous when I placed the order. My ski boots, mountaineering boots, cycling shoes, etc range from 43.5 to 44.5. My first pair of La Sportiva climbing shoes were slightly too big at 44.5. So I ordered the 42.5 and they really fit well! They hurt when I first put them on, and were tight in my first trip to the gym. But after 1 or 2 sessions they are really comfortable - they really do stretch!

Amazingly comfortable shoes

By:
April 19, 2010

If you're looking for crazy extreme, tie your toes in knots, hang from the ceiling vice grips, these may not be the shoes for you. But if you're looking for incredible comfort all day long, no matter what you climb or how long you climb, look no further - these are the shoes for you. I can't imagine ever buying any other brand.
