The La Sportiva Halite GTX Women's Hiking Boots provide solid traction for both uphill and downhill hiking to keep you on your feet no matter how steep the trail gets. They key to these La Sportiva boots are their I.B.S. soles with lugs angled in different directions to create excellent grip in any direction. The Halite GTX Hiking Boots also include Gore-Tex inserts to protect against nasty mud slogs after a brutal rain storm.
Bottom Line: Steep, muddy, nasty trails? No problem. You have the La Sportiva Halite GTX Boots to help you along your way.
I love these boots! They are my first hiking boots, and I have put them to the test. I bought them when I signed up for an "Extreme" hike---30 miles on the A.T. in one day---and wore them on several long training hikes over various terrains---mountains, sand, snow, swamp, etc, as well as on the 30 mile hike. I never got a blister and my feet only got wet once on a washed out trail where I accidently stepped into a knee deep puddle. I was really impressed with the traction. My DH slipped right off a slick rock in his Vasques and into a lake. My shoes held me steady while I fished his gear out of the lake with a stick while standing on the same slick rock. No matter how caked with dirt and mud they get, I just hose them off and dry them out and they look new. Teamed with a pair of Superfeet inserts and some Smartwool socks, they were perfect! I have very bad feet and can't believe I lucked out and ended up with such a great boot for my first pair!
Tried these when I found them on super clearance at a local store. I thought they looked really nice and the weight was nice as well but I could never get them to feel right. La Sportiva runs narrow and I don't have a narrow foot so don't make the same mistake. The shoe also flexed on awkward spot on my big toe, which always created a blister. I moved back to Asolo's with a wide fit.

Bought these for my wife and she absolutely loves them. They were a little stiff the first couple of hikes but they've broken in and now she absolutely loves them! She said they're like her new house slippers...... only beefier!
I loved these boots but had to return them - I have a funny shaped leg and the top dug into my shin on the outside. Barring that they were awesome and I highly recommend. Fit is first, however, so it was a no go for me.
At first, I thought this boot was great! First tried at home, walking around the house for a week, then worn to work for 2 weeks. Next, an 11-mile hike in steep terrain, and despite a couple of hot spots, I still thought they were ok. Then on a 3-day 30-some-mile backpack trip in montane/alpine terrain. After day two, I refused to wear them any longer. The soles stiffness did not loosen - there was little flex, and so I had pain in my toes. Five days later, I still have "numb toe syndrome". I do have pronating feet with weak arches. Replacing factory insoles with Shock Doctors did not correct the problem - bad feet could be part of the issue. The boots do have good support and are waterproof - my feet didn't sweat excessively. The braking system works well on scree-y terrain. I will, however, be searching for another boot.
This sounds like more of a fitting problem rather than a problem with the boot. I had an issue that was very similar with a completely different boot. They were fine on shorter hikes, but with the backpacking trips they weren't the right size and I had the toe-smashing problem. When I researched it, I found that toe-smashing is usually the result of the wrong size boot. Maybe go up half a size.
This is my third pair of these boots. They fit my foot very well and are light weight. The only problem is they don't last very long. My first pair lasted 8 months and sole started coming off. La Sportiva replaced the boots. My second pair sole is too worn out for my month long adventure in Patagonia. I purchased my third pair because I knew these boots are very comfortable on my feet and I will be wearing them for 30 days in a row. They are perfect for a narrow heel wide forefront feet.
These boots are great so far. I have really high arches, so I wear them with smartfeet inserts and the boots have really helped minimize my foot pain during long hikes. The first time I ever wore them was on a three hour hike and I didn't even get blisters. The second time was a 16 mile hike over muddy and steep terrain, and they held up beautifully. I was ankle-deep in mud puddles at various times and the boots wicked away the mud and didn't leak at all. So far, so good!
