Keep the frost in the freezer and off your toes.
When the pipes start to freeze and it seems like summer is just a fairy tale from your childhood, you need a boot that won't let you down in even the toughest conditions. That's where the newest offering from La Sportiva comes in. The Women's La Sportiva Frost GTX Boot is designed specifically for the woman who isn't going to let a little thing like a frozen radiator hose keep her from getting outside and having a good time. The impressive list of winter-specific features on this boot make it clear that La Sportiva spared no expense in creating a boot that won't back down from anything.
Starting from the inside out, we find a wide toebox that can easily accommodate the thickest winter socks so you're not left choosing between having to wear a thin sock or feeling as if your digits are being squeezed in an icebox. A Trailon high-insulation EVA midsole helps to reduce heat transmission and prevent, as much as possible, heat being transferred from your foot to the cold ground. Moving outward we find a Gore-Tex insulated comfort lining, the warmest waterproof liner material that Gore-Tex has to offer. For the outside of the boot La Sportiva used rubber, nylon and an abrasion resistant microfiber that together provide durable, waterproof protection all day. Last, but certainly not least, La Sportiva added a Vibram Ice-Trek sole to provide traction when things get icy, and also to help prevent ice build-up on the soles of the boots.

- Q & A
5 months use and already leaking
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
Style and size of these boots is great, I wear them for work which is a mix of indoor/outdoor rain, snow and mud. Sadly after just 5 months the sole is creeping away from the boot, classic sign of poor glue holding everything together. I've considered repair but I doubt they'll ever be right again. Thankfully they didn't break the bank so I'll shop for a different brand.
Wanted so much to keep these boots
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
These boots seemed to be perfect for my needs. I wanted a good insulated winter boot that fit well for my narrow heel/wide toes. I loved the way they look, too. I wore it around the house before venturing out on a hike. They seemed great- kept my feet toasty and were not too bulky for hiking. It wasn't until I had been on the trail for a while that I realized that the deep fold of the tongue of my left boot dug into my ankle causing significant pain. I let my ankle rest for a few days and tried tying the tongue in different ways but the fold still dug in.
