Why We Like The Finale Climbing Shoe

From laps on plastic to dancing up rock, the Finale keeps our focus on the route. The lacing helps us find a snug, customized fit, while the unlined leather upper conforms to our foot, squeezing out dead space to leave room for nothing but performance. With a slight downturn and moderate curvature, this shoe sticks to tiny footholds in the cave and gives a powerful edge on the face, while the LaspoFlex midsole keeps us comfortable and supported on multi-pitches.

Good shoes for a beginner

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:

I bought these shoes about eight months ago, and they do the trick. I don't mind the laces, but even someone who prefers velcro might be surprised with how quick and easy they are to tighten and adjust. I bought them to fit my foot snuggly, maybe even a little tight, but it wasn't quite tight enough because I now find after some time that I could've downsized further. The top certainly stretches out a bit, which adds comfort but doesn't keep up the performance unless you've downsized enough. The biggest thing was that the tension that many shoes have pulling the toe down is usually a lot stronger, even for some moderate or neutral shoes. These shoes really round out if you're wearing them while you're not climbing, especially if you're walking around and standing in them for a while. This isn't a problem if you're not climbing past a certain grade, but since they drift towards neutral after a while, it can be difficult to stick to small footholds when you're sending hard since they're not super sticky. After climbing with them enough, I ended up progressing past the abilities of the shoes, and I needed something more aggressive, so I upgraded to the solutions. They are stickier, more aggressive, and I downsized more with them. This happened quicker than I expected, given I was upgraded to this shoe from another shoe, so I'd recommend picking up the Finales as a first shoe, as it's neutral enough to be comfortable for a beginner but performs up a to a decent grade. The padding inside the shoes could be better, I notice a big difference between it and and other shoes, but it's not terrible. I still use these as a beater shoe, mostly when I'm going outside or any other time I'll be standing around or not sending as hard. Otherwise they hold up well and they do what they need to.

Great all around performance

If sized properly, this shoe performs great inside and outside. My street shoe size is a 43 (US 10) and I had to go with a 42 in these shoes. Even with one full size down, I feel like they have stretched a bit too much after about 15 pitches. Next time I would consider going down to a 41.5 .Regardless, great all day shoe for any style of climbing... especially long multipitch routes.

First pair

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

First pair of climbing shoes after renting all the time. I love the shoes. Just wish I would’ve gotten a Velcro strap version as taking them on and off with the laces can be kind of cumbersome.
