  • TPU torsion plate reduces boot twisting and buckling while providing a decent amount of flex
  • 3D Flex ankle enables easy mobility while climbing steep sections of trail but tall collar provides side-to-side protection to prevent ankle injury
  • The Vibram Sasslong rubber outsole secures your steps on mud, sand, and slick rock
  • Soft Cordura in the ankle and gusset reduce pressure points while the lace hooks ensure an even fit throughout the many miles

A new tool in my arsenal!

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

This is probably one of the most comfortable boots I have put on from the start, little to no break in and after about 100 miles on these boots they still feel solid. The gore tex has kept my foot dry and the boot itself drys out rather fast. I do feel like I have a hiking shoe on when I wear these but with ankle support. I would recommend a stiffer boot if you want a true back pack hiker, otherwise this is an excellent boot. I will purchase another pair after these wear out which seems like that may be a lot further away than I would have imagined. The tread is tough but a little slick on ice, wet areas with nothing to grab, but so are other boots. The sides of the soles seem to be the only part not standing it's ground, but seems to only affect the looks not the performance.

Works for me

  • Familiarity:I've used it several times
  • Fit:True to size

My feet: low volume, medium-narrow width.

These boots fit me better than any other "backpacking" boot that I've ever tried on. I attribute the fit more to the lacing system and relatively thin/flexible upper than the last. The lace system is awesome! Things I don't like: the rubber on the sole sucks (it's hard, dry, and super slippery when wet), the fit-and-finish is bad by La Sportiva standards, and I wish the heal part of the sole was wider to help with stability. I'm going to try and get mine resoled ASAP with a better rubber, if possible.

What is the actual weight on this boot? ...

What is the actual weight on this boot? La Sportiva is listing it at 20 oz so I'd typically believe the dealer, but most every website (including BC) that I've found lists it at 28 oz ... which is a pretty big difference. Can anyone verify?

I noticed you posted this some time back, but if it still matters, my size 44 scales exactly 1240 grams (the pair)

great boot

Great, comfortable boot!

  • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it

I've tried over a dozen different boots the last 6 months trying to find the "perfect" boot. These boots were by far the most comfortable boots I tried. The really fit "my" feet like a glove. I have average-to-narrow fore foot with narrow heels. These were honestly the best fitting boots I've ever tried and that's probably over 30 different pairs of boots in my lifetime. They are extremely light weight and built well. I did return these before using because they just didn't have the ankle support that I was looking for. I ended up going with the Salomon Quest 4D's because of the higher and stiffer ankle support however these were FAR more comfortable. I was really sad to have to send them back. This would be a great boot for moderate to average hikes. I would not recommend long hikes with heavy loads as they just don't have the support IMO for long heavy trips. I'd say 25lb pack tops. If you've got ankles built of steel and aren't prone to sprains then these would be an excellent choice for longer hikes. The sole is moderately flexible and I wouldn't suggest any serious mountaineering in them but then again that's not what they were built for. I will definitely own a pair of La Sportiva's in the future!

Ankle support in footwear mostly comes from heel stability. Unless the boot wraps halfway up your calf, it won't provide much ankle support. The high cut is mostly to keep debris out and prevent water from going over the top.

I have wide feet, I ordered regular size...

I have wide feet, I ordered regular size 9.5 since there is no 9.5 wide size option from selection menu when I ordered. I tried this boot last weekend (just one weekend) and found out it does not fit and hurting my feet.
Is possible sending back my boot and replacing with 9.5 wide size boot. Please let me know, thank you.
