Description

A pant that can keep up with your wild days in the mountains.

The only way to make a full day of bouldering at your favorite local site better is to do it with the Kühl Rydr Pant, which features stretchy fabric, a gusseted crotch, and articulated knees for comfort in the crux. This slightly stretchy cotton twill pant has a wider-leg for thick-thighed athletes so you won’t feel constricted when you go for a heel hook. The double-needle bar tacks and two-layer pockets and hems provide extra reinforcement while you climb, hike, or scramble up a rugged goat path.

Delivers Big on Fit and Fabric

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The two most important things I look for in pants are fit and fabric, and the KUHL Rydr pant delivers big on both. The Euro twill fabric reminds me of a really nice waxed canvas; it feels slightly stiff, durable, and it gets better with age. A touch of spandex combines with the gusseted crotch and articulated knees for complete freedom of movement. I was also pleased to discover that mosquitoes can’t bite through the fabric, which was a huge plus on this trip.

Favorite Pants -

  • Fit: True to size

I now have three pair of the Kuhl Rydr pants and love them. I have found they fit true to size. I mostly use them for casual wear and to the office. I have traveled with them - Wore a pair on the flight to New Zealand and was very thankful for their roominess. Enjoyed some hiking in them while in New Zealand. While they require a little extra care (turning them inside for washing), they are rugged, comfortable and my go-to pants nearly every day.

Not climbing pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Don't use these for rock-climbing if you plan to do any kind of knee-barring. I tore mine up within a month of wearing them outside climbing on southeastern sandstone.

To be fair, I'm not sure they're designed for rock climbing. But, they are pants made by an outdoors manufacturer that makes other pants for rock climbing so I thought I'd give them a try. I would have just kept wearing them to the office for a while, but I didn't read the washing instructions and I scuffed and marked them up by not turning them inside out the first few times I washed them.

Nice looking pants, but you're better off saving these for office/casual pants.

Inconsistent sizing!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

Great looking pants, sturdy, but seriously, this is 2014, and it's not that hard to properly sew a 34x32 pants. The bottoms were so bunchy on these they are a 36 with any other major brand. I'm not just being picky, it's a good 4" past the bottom of my shoe. I've been wearing 32" pants for 15 years now, it's not that hard to measure the fabric before sewing it. It's too bad, but I'm not paying $80.00 for pants that don't fit. And I'm not going to waste my time ordering and reordering a pair until I receive a pair that fits.

I'm a 32" inseam as well, but as with most online clothing shopping, perhaps it would be more benificial to find a store in your area that also stocks these, and give them a quick test fit. I learned the hard way ordering a Carhartt jacket online, only to find out I needed a size smaller.

Who do we have to kill around here to get some longee inseam pants?! Not everyone is a 32....

Just almost everyone is... Kuhl Stocks 34" and 36" inseams on their website though, maybe just order directly from them?

awesome fit!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These pants have a super rugged material. When I first started wearing them they sounded like snowpants when they rubbed together. After a wash or two they broke in and now fit very comfortably. These pants are true to size and have a good amount of room in the legs great for working and casual wear.

My dad approves

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

got my dad these pants for a gift and am surprised about how much he loves these pants. He went out and bought two more pairs of KUHL pants. He tells me the fit amazingly, comfortable but with a full range of motion. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Awesome pant

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is one of my favorite pant styles that I own. They are super useful for just about whatever, from winter camping and snowshoeing in the spring. Nice fit, perfect amount of bagginess, great feel, one of my favorites.

Ryder Pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These pants are great. For a comfortable and softer pant like these, they are super durable, kind of like the b.a. cousin of khakis. they fit super well, and are reinforced in the right places(heels and crotch). The knees are articulated a bit, they have a little bit of stretch to them, and the waist band lays nicely.. good all around pants.

Colors not accurate

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love Kuhl pants. Ive owned several pairs of cords and Ryders. These are tough pants. Love the bigger thigh cuts and gusseted crotch. Freedom of movement. I just ordered two more pair. Be aware..the dark khaki are dark and look more like brown.

Awesome Material

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These pants got me hooked on kuhl. Bad news for the jean and work pants mfgs. The fabric is what sold it. Tough, heavy duty and a pleasure to touch. Style and fit of these pants are spot on. They are made for athletes; Mountain men; lumberjacks; you know guys who tear jeans to shreds when climbing; hiking or just lifting heavy stuff. My only complaints have to do with finding the proper size and the tendency of the pants to attract lint and dog hair. I suggest to buy them in matching colour to your dogs fur. Btw after a couple washes the Espresso colour goes great with black and tan German shepherd ;) also take note to follow washing instructions as these things are designed to fade for that broken in look. They get better with age.

Nice review...but don't you buy ALL your clothing to match your dogs? ;)

They fit me well, look good, comfortable. I have two pairs I use frequently and have had no problems. I'll get a third pair in the summer.

Plus, they look great.

rivet tear.. pre mature failure

the issue of tearing above the rivets is a quality control issue, caused by stitching beyond the rivet placement, which if the threads extend beyond the rivets results in undo stress factor to the cloth directly above the rivets. If you notice this than you can carefully cut the two threads above each of the threds and minimize the issue.
