Awesome pants!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

For being mostly cotton, I was pleasantly surprised with the weight of these pants. Much lighter than my other cotton climbing pants! The blend of materials is a perfect combination of ruggedness and low weight.
Not sure if the extra flap on the fly is really necessary, but the pants are well thought out and fit pretty nice as well. Articulation on the knee is great combined with the crotch gusset really improves the range of motion.
Great pair of pants for biking or climbing when the temperature starts to get a little cooler.

My new uniform

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

These pants are the perfect combo of nylon (to make them tough) and cotton (to make them comfortable). I would wear them all the time if I could (a bit hot in the summer due to their thickness). The best thing about them is that they are very roomy in the upper legs, I have big quads so I need that extra room when climbing or scrambling, and these are perfect for it. They also look pretty good wearing them around town. They are tough, I slid down a rock face on my butt and the fabric didn't even fray noticeably, even after a 25 foot slide! Sizing is a tiny bit large but by design so you can move freely.

Awesome Pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

So, I wear these pants almost everyday. My wife suspects they may be more loved then her although, I try to reassure her that is not the case. They Probably need to be washed soon.

Just about as good as it gets

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

FINALLY - found a pair of 34 length Kuhl's here on BC.com, with a little research and help from a gear-tech - but it can be done.

I'm 6'6'' tall but 32 / 34 (waist/inseam) fits me perfectly and these are just perfect on an exceptionally tall odd shaped guy, so I say they are true to size.

These are slightly lighter than my 1st / original pair of Kuhls, so a bit more spring / summer wear with slightly less thin but very durable material. Mostly I don't get off the beaten path with these, yet anyway, so they are most for kickin' around town or casual uses. They are stylish, but very well built and I'll eventually start trashing them in the woods & mountains by fall perhaps.

My only beef with these pants is that I am not a fan of snap-button waist vs. a real button or very strong snap-button. These snaps are just a bit weak and they tend to wear out after a while, tho so far - not on this pair. Thats hugely frustrating (and means you need a belt to prevent the snap from opening up. The standard jean button we all grew up with is just fine - I think - so Kuhl: bag that open-hole snap and go back to the real thing (or similar) that works.

Sizing way off

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

I liked the pants, but the 34X34 wasn't even close to the correct sizing. They were at least an inch short. Returned. This is the second return for Kuhl for sizing issues. I think I am done with them.

Solid Pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These pants are great all around. I think they could be too much for hot weather, but I have yet to test that. I just purchased them a couple weeks ago, and their first big test was a climbing/camping trip to City of Rocks. They held up to the granite without showing any wear. I never had to worry about them restricting movement while climbing. In fact, I didn't even think about how well they fit until I got home. They were also comfortable enough to lounge around the campfire. All in all, a solid pair of pants that will take a beating and keep you comfortable in the process.

Yikes! The zipper won't stay up!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These are really nice looking pants but if you're not careful they may show a little too much off. Ahem...ladies, my face is up here.

Seriously, had them for about 6 months and the zipper falling down became a chronic problem. I returned them for the same pair so I'll give an update in a few months or so. I love Kuhl products so I'm really hoping that was just a bad pair and not a problem with all of them.

Awesome! 5 stars no doubt!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These pants are the best ones I own. I have had one pair for around 2 years and have recently purchased another 2 pairs. I live in N/VA and can run these for around 6 months of the year comfortably.
They are well made, strong, have good pockets and remain as they were out of the box after 2 years of beating and washing. From memory I was a little unhappy with the colors, as they had 3 very similar to black, but no grey. Or something like that? Anyway, I love these and will wear them forever.
On a separate note. I ordered my recent two pairs with the assistance of the online chat feature and was very impressed with the service. Well done Backcountry. Not only do you offer the service, but it is helpful with personable assistants.

Great pants--even better than expected!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have two pair of the Kuhl Renegade pants and love to hike in them in warm weather. I decided to try the Revolver for cooler temps and they are even better than I expected! Hardy enough to withstand plenty of abuse from rocks and trees, they are not too heavy for mild temps; a baselayer underneath makes them perfect for winter hiking. Plenty of pockets rounds out a good design. I love these pants--excellent product! My only "complaint" is that they seem to wrinkle easily if you don't get them out of the dryer quickly. Not a big issue though. I'm in line for another pair.

I Love These Pants!!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have used these pants for about a year now & they are great! They dry SO fast & hold up to all kinds of abuse. I just recently took them on a trip to Billiard Table & a couple other surrounding peaks & they still look like new! Couldn't be happier with them!

Great pants!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The KUHL Revolver Pant is my favorite pair, or three pairs of pants i own. After putting on the first pair I immediately fell in love and knew a wanted another pair or two. I have hiked, climbed and even cycled in these. The Revolvers allow for a wide range of movement and have held up to lots of use and abuse. It helps that they look great out on the town. I own some other Kuhl pants and must say they are like a swiss army knife, in that they can be worn for any activity even a ending the day at your local tavern. No need to buy pants for every occasion, instead stay comfy in a pair of KUHL.
However, I have found that a belt is handy as that fancy little button likes to come undone.

Nice Pants

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

These pants are true to size and have a great fit. They may be a little stiff for gym climbing but I'm sure they'll hold up for outside walls and faces. They'll probably loosen up in the wash too!

The pants are stylish and can be worn as a casual pant and not just for technical climbing/hiking.

I ordered the gun-metal color and the color is great. A nice earthy-green tone (blend between brown/green). The stitching looks like it is well made too and accents the pants nicely.

For us climbing folk who have big quads, these are great as they have plenty of room. I typically buy +2 inch size waist so that I have more maneuvering space inside my climbing pants. This is what I did with these and they seem to be a good fit.

On the negative side, you'll need a separate belt. Personally I wish they had a draw-string inside as this is more comfortable than having a belt. So if you product design folk are reading, please put a drawstring on the next revision!! :-)

Nice Pants

OK, so to give you an update. I've used these extensively in the gym and they are really comfortable. After the first wash they eased up and now are flexible. Verdict: Great. Love the look. Will be buying a second pair! .....Damn, just found there's none left in my size!!!!

Great pants

Between these, the Slackr pants and the Khul Rydr's pants, I'm pretty dialed in. These fit great... I do wish that the accessory pocket on the lower right leg had a snap or some velcro on it. I ripped the same pocket off my Khul shorts a week after I got them... But that's my only, and minor complaint. That, and they don't make the slakr pant's anymore.

Revolver is firing on all cylinders!

This Kuhl Revolvr is a great pant for hiking, tactical use or everyday use. The Kuhl Revolvr is made by blending 26% nylon into the ultralight 5.1 oz sq. yd. combed cotton canvas which gives you lightweight comfort and breathability of cotton with the added durability of nylon. I have found these Kuhl Revolvr pants to be super comfortable, durable and very resistant to scuffs and damage. I had to go a size up on my Kuhl Revolvr's to make sure I was comfortable, so maybe you will too. I use my Kuhl Revolvr pants for whatever I can get away with, but hiking, backpacking and tactical use usually tops what I do with them. Berz Rating: 92/100 (Mostly affected by being made in China)

Great review, great pant! I only disagree on the cell phone pocket. I use a larger Droid phone and it fits nicely into that pocket without falling out easily, albeit I'm not trying to hand upside down while rock-climbing. I like that it makes my phone easy to get to and keeps it out of the way. Just my two cents. Thanks for posting your review...these are terrific pants and worth the price of admission!

Don't trust cellphone pocket, great pant

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Well made pants, comfortable, good fit. Only washed once so I can't comment on durability, but nylon content suggests they will last longer than Carrharts I've been wearing.

Suggestion....don't trust the "cell phone" pocket...my $700 mobile device fell out of the pocket, in spite of what Kuhl's video shows. Why not add a positive closure such as zip (like on my Revolvr shorts), or Velcro spot? I used Liquid Stitch to add a hook-and-loop spot to the inside of the cell phone pocket...went through 1st wash OK

Better than you would think

I was worried about the cotton in these pants... but they actually work well. They are comfortable, great movement in them, they dry relatively quick and hold up better than many non cotton pants i have used. for everyday use, dayhikes and some scrambling, these pants have held up well for me. already bought another pair

With the cotton ratio in these pants, do...

With the cotton ratio in these pants, do they dry fast? I am interested in purchasing a pair for backpacking in the late spring and early fall and want something that is going to be durable, but will also dry when it rains.

Best Answer Responded on

They're fairly thin pants, but I've never had a durability issue with them. Depending on the temperature and if there's some sun, mine are usually completely dry in less than a couple hours. Where they tend to stay a bit wetter, and dry more slowly, is where the underwear under them isn't drying quite so fast.

I used these pant everyday (after work) last "winter"(live in Houston), and they are excellent. They are durable and very comfortable. Love them

GREAT. Keeps you cool in hot weather.

I do demo rides for motorcycles and am required to wear black pants. We ride in very hot weather all over the U.S. These pants are much cooler than regular jeans. They are not too tight, easy to get on and off motorcycles all day.
