Oh so good...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I was a bit hesitant on ordering these shorts, don't know why, but I'm glad I did. In fact, I ordered another pair in a different color after having these for a few weeks. I like that the pockets are integrated into the shorts, they don't stand out like a cargo short, but you still get the ability to tuck a phone, multi-tool, wallet, whatever into a zipped up secure pocket. They fit great, are knee length (good for brush train hiking), and seem to be durable (had them about 2 months with regular use, no complaints so far). Highly recommend them.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

These shorts are my favorite. I got these to replace an older pair of Kuhl cargo shorts. I like these much better. Unlike the cargo shorts these seem to hold their shape after days of use. I wore these shorts all last summer after ordering. I would wash them and immediately put them on replacing whatever crappy shorts I had on. I need to order the 2015 model as soon as they come out so I have a backup pair. I am 5'10 175 went with a 34 will order a 32 next time. Lost a little in the mid section since then.

Worlds best shorts...ever!!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I own 4 pair of these shorts now which I have bought over the past two years. These are by far the best fitting, most comfortable and toughest shorts I've ever put on. I have slid on my butt down canyons, sat on rocks, wore the same pair for days hiking and still will wear them out on the town (after I wash them). They look good no matter what they or you go through. For what seems to be a medium weight pair of shorts they actually have great air flow; I live in the desert and wear them year long (all 4 seasons). Buy them yo'll be a happy camper.

Man, do I love these shorts!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've had Kuhl products in the past and have been highly impressed by their durability, comfort, versatility and good looks. These shorts are no different.
Fit: I have closer to a 32 waist but bought a size 32 and they fit great, just a bit below the waist and on the hips. The length of the leg is just right..not too short or long. Roomy through the thigh.
Functionality/durability: The material is very comfortable and works either wearing them casually or in "technical" situations (hiking, climbing, riding). I'm pretty sure I'm not going to wear these out anytime soon. The phone pocket works just fine for the old phone (non-I phone/Smart phone). The two zippered pockets on the side work OK for some (small) things but nothing too heavy-ish. The front/back pockets work just fine as, well, front/back pockets.
Style: very comfy/roomy...they hang just right.

I just received a pair today, was supposed to be khaki but they look more olive than khaki. Did I get a mislabeled pair or are they really supposed to be an olive color? They don't look anything like the picture.

I'd call BC about it. Looking at the pics, I'd bet you got shipped brown by mistake. Their return policy is great and you should already have the return shipping label with the invoice that came in the package.

The Kuhl "khaki" has a pretty strong gun-metal/olive look so you may have the correct color. The brown is very brown and should be pretty obvious.

Responded on

Yes, the Khaki looks rather olive.

Kuhl shorts are for slim folks

Best shorts I have ever owned.

Midweight fabric. Excellent pocket placement. Get them wet. Dry in 45 minutes. Not flimsy or revealing. Really different looking but not in a stupid, "where are my trail running shoes" sort of way. Different and tasteful.

Warning: Your normal size will be slim. These are NOT regular fit shorts. I bought a pair of same size MK shorts and I was swimming in them. Heck, I invited my wife to join me.

If you are underweight buy your reg size.

American sizing is one size big compared to Kuhl. Size up one.

Kuhl shorts ARE slim fit. These short were tailor made for me.

69" tall. 144 lbs.

I am normally a waste size 31" (not available from Kuhl). The 32 wastes were too big, the 30" waste are about right - for me. FWIW, mine are the 8" inseam version vs. the standard 10" (go to the Kuhl site to get your data on the available sizes and versions).

I am very picky about shorts. Just a bit too tight, loose, short, or long and they are quickly put in the recycling pile. But these are perfect!!!

Responded on

I am 5' 8 3/4" and fairly evenly propotioned (top to bottom). My ideal pant inseam is 31", but depending on the brand I can go anywhere from 30" to 32" inseams. I bought the 8" inseam version of these shorts. They end roughly 1.5 to 2"from the top of my knee cap. For me, the 10" version will likely leave the hem right at the point where my knee bends. I am ordering them in the 10" and will post comments after the longer version arrives. Overall, the 8" version is very comfortable (as long as they don't shrink)!

Everything I'd want from shorts

I bought these on a deep, deep discount and couldn't pass up the deal, not because I needed another pair of shorts. Well, I'm quite glad I made that purchase. These shorts have found their way to the top of my favorite list, and are worn on a ridiculous basis. They're lightweight, but not filmsy. They're short, but not tooo short and hang above your knee which I like for mobility. They're quickdrying, but not swimsuit material. They have two zippered pockets, perfect for essentials. They even have this nifty chalkbag attachment loop at the back beltloop which is kinda handy if I used a beener to secure my bag. I can't say enough good bout these shorts. They do their job, and more.

I wear 32 in pretty much all pants/shorts except MH, and these 32s fit me great.
