    A rack for every bike.

If you’re ferrying around different bikes all the time, the Kuat NV 2 Bike Rack is just the ticket. This tray-style rack accommodates everything short of a full-on fatbike, and doesn’t require straight top tubes. On top of that, with 13 inches between the two trays, those brake lever-to-saddle gouges are a thing of the past.

    • Two versions: one to fit two-inch hitch receivers, and one to fit 1.25-inch receivers
    • Folds up to reduce profile when not in use
    • Built-in repair stand
    • Integrated cable lock
    • Extensions to add two more bikes are available separately

    Solid!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I just got a new car with a bigger hitch receiver, so had to get rid of my old Yakima Hold Up - I thought I was stoked on that thing... But I'm way more stoked on the NV2!
Things I like about this rack:
    - Looks awesome. Obviously this is at the top of the list.
    - 3 keys for the cable and hitch locks! Likely going to lose one set, but super comforting to have a third.
    - Repair stand! Super convenient for on the go fixes.
    - Folds down so you can grab junk out of your trunk. Easy up and down.
Probably a lot of other things but those are at the top of my list!
    Really stoked, highly recommend!

    the best

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love this rack. Everything about it is easy and works well. It's easy to take on/off the car. It's easy to load/unload bikes. It feels secure while driving, especially since there is a knob to dial in the tightness in the hitch. And I love having the built in bike stand. Use it all the time.

    Amazing quality and durability.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The NV 2 has exceeded all of my expectations in terms of durability and bike security. Though the rack isn't the lightest in its category for hitch mount bike racks, it more than makes up for that in build quality and longevity. *The built-in cable locks are a nice feature, however they are not for long term storage security. They are mainly there for quick runs into the store and side stops to grab a bite. I recommend always removing your bike and storing it safely indoors or even in the vehicle if you are away from it more than a couple hours. Installation of the rack is simple and Kuat has done a great job to ensure that the rack isn't rattling around in the hitch when you are driving. The attention to detail with anodized aluminum and a powder coat paint job make it the best functioning and best looking rack on the market.

    Amazing quality and durability.

Takes time to assemble - easy to use!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Once you figure out the orientation of all the pieces and parts, assembly is relatively easy. Attachment to the car is a piece of cake. I love the feature of the anti-sway knob at the back to prevent any movement of the rack once it's installed.
We are coming from a Thule Freeway 5 rack (or something like that). Putting any more than 3 bikes onto that 5 bike rack was like solving a Rubix Cube and caused lots of stress and frustration. Putting bikes onto the NV takes about 10 seconds a bike and they do not interfere with one another in any way. The bars on my fat bike are uncut and they don't come close to touching the seat of my daughter's mountain bike. I'm unsure what people are referring to when they talk about the distance between bikes being an issue.
I've purchased the add-on, but have not installed it yet. I can't imagine the add-on will disappoint in any way. This is an expensive purchase, but it has been well worth the cost so far.

    Bomb proof!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

If you are considering the Kuat NV, stop wasting time and click order! I've only used the rack a few times so far, but it is incredibly solid. Absolutely love the ability to tighten the rack into the hitch receiver so there is literally no play/movement. The bikes sit very securely and mount in seconds. The only small complaint I have is the integrated lock cable is a little short. Kuat really knocked it out the park with this one. Every detail was well thought out, even down to the packaging. Best investment in quite some time!

    Amazing Bike Rack

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

My parents recently upgraded to this from a non-tray style rack that holds bikes by the frame. Here's my Dad's review:

"The Kuat is the best bike carrier that I've ever had. It now takes me under 1 minute to load 2 bikes. It's built from very durable materials and it's very easy to use."

It's easy on the eyes too...

    Amazing Bike Rack

    Best bike rack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So I've owned the Yakima and Thule version and the Kuat is by far the best. I really like the built in bike stand. It helps with repairs and quick adjustments. The quality is great and i would suggest it to anyone looking for a bike rack.

    I thought I loved it

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Then it started rusting. What the hell? I bought this less than a year ago and several pieces are rusting. I took it off for the winter. Shouldn't a legit bike rack be able to withstand 4 months of being on the back of a car?

    Love this Rack

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've owned the NV for about a year and it's fantastic. The bikes mount up rock solid with no wobble. The hitch and receiver are super tight as well . The internal lock cable is too short to be very useful so I use a longer, stronger one.

The only issue I had was with the chrome pieces (black and silver version) which started to peel after a few months of use. I expected a big hassle from customer service but they immediately sent me all new parts which were anodized silver rather than plated.

    Thank you Kuat!

Great bike rack & hassle-free cust servc

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The lock on the cable came loose so I filed a warranty request. It was handled the next day and parts were shipped out in short order. Totally hassle-free customer service experience.

I use the rack for my road, 29er and my fat bike. It's easy to install on the hitch and bikes are easy to get on and off. Everything is very secure and doesn't rattle. My only complaint is the need to purchase an additional tire strap for the fat bike- I use a simple nylon strap I had sitting around instead. Overall, well worth the price if you frequently tote your bikes around.

    Awesome

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Yet another invention that helps old guys bike way more often and in better places. Put this rack on the car and you will never hesitate to drive to a great ride. It's so easy, so fast, so sturdy...zero complaints.

    Works!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My favorite thing about this bike rack is the knob that tightens the rack to the bumper hitch. Simple, but works. This is the only rack I have used that does not move, rattle, or shake with bikes attached.

    Absoutly Awewome

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have several bikes and several bike racks. This one is awesome. It is light and easy to install. The only thing I would like would to have the lock be about 6" longer. It is hard to put two bikes on and lock them up. It can be done but it would be nice to have a bit more length. I also wish that the mounting hole that goes into the receiver hitch was about 1 inch further back. That would allow me to open my gate on my jeep with only one bike installed without having to lower the bike. Not a deal breaker by any means but it would have been nice.

    Don't buy the black version!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First off, the orange and grey version is 5 STAR. The reason why the black is not is because kuat made it cheaper. Unfortunately, the chrome parts start to bubble and peel from being outside exposed to the elements after only a very short amount of time. 2-3 months in, living in southern California, started to show the finishing flaws of the black model. Certain areas or pieces start to rust, the chrome areas look like crap, and the rubber arch is now ground down the to the metal from pressing the ultegra rim brake on my road bike after numerous road trips north and west. A friend has had the gray and orange model 2 years longer than I have had the black version and his is still in superior cosmetic condition. Still the rack works well and I would rather have it over other brands.

    Amazing Bike Rack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Once you put the rack together, it is so simple and intuitive to use. It also makes it easy for my kids to get their bikes on versus waiting for me to put a bike on the roof. At first, I bristled a bit at the price, but it is worth every penny.

    Superb bike rack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Two bikes: Check. Super easy to use: Check. Durable: Check. Truly the best option for a back of the car two bike rack.

Just one word of warning: If you're going to install, but not use, the plastic coated wire cable lock, don't let it hang down in front of the exhaust pipe(s) when not in use; you'll end up with melted coating on the cable. Not a big deal since replacements are available but you'll be upset you screwed up.

    Perfect Rack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

We bought this to replace a rack and couldn't be happier. The construction is amazing, a bit of a pain to assemble, but what rack isn't? One of the biggest 'Wins' was that we can open the tailgate on our Tacoma truck when the rack is empty and folded down AND open the tailgate with 2 bikes when you lower it all the way, we couldn't do that with the prior Yakima rack. The integrated lock is okay, not enough to go through the wheels and the frames. This rack has seen over 4,000 miles on the back of our truck in the last month and will see many more miles in the coming years. Spend the extra $$ and invest in this rack.

So that's why everyone is buying this!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is hands down the sturdiest bike rack I've used. After many years hoisting my rides up on top of the car, I "splurged" on this rear hitch rack. My back is sad I waited this long. Super easy install, secures nicely to the hitch receiver and stays put. Bikes are a synch to rack up or take down. Only negative, and it's minor, is that I use my trunk frequently and have to lower the rack to access the hatch. But any rear hitch rack would have the same thing going on. This one collapses up against the trunk when not in use, and can be supplemented with an additional 2 rack extension for hauling around your friends! if you have a few bucks to invest in a good rack, pick this one!!

    The best tray style rack.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I recently mounted this rack on my 1985 Toyota pickup after years of transporting my bike "motorcycle style" with cam straps. I have a few years of experience with this rack on some of my friends vehicles, so when I was ready to buy a rack, choosing Kuat was an easy decision.

The rack holds two bikes of any flavor (except for ultra fat tire fat bikes) very securely and without any unnecessary movement, rattling or wiggling. There are times when it might be necessary to rotate a brake lever to clear a saddle, but usually two bikes will mount up readily, with no adjustment of components.

I'm very happy with the rack overall, but I do have 2 complaints.
The locking cables could be about one foot longer overall and made of a larger gauge cable.
On it's maiden voyage, the cable guides on my friend's Fox forks cut in to the front wheel cradle rubberized material. I'll probably wrap them with an innertube (all hail ghetto innertube fixes!).

Can this rack fit bikes that have 3-4 inch tires?

I have the NV Core and two bikes cannot fit on this rack without hitting each other. Has anybody experienced this problem with the NV 2? I want to replace the NV Core with the NV 2 unless they have the same issue.

I'm looking to put a hitch on my 2012 Mazda 3 sedan to transport bikes for triathlons. Does anyone have any experience with this rack on a sedan?

It may be a bit low to the ground, but will work fine, total weight of the rack assembled is around 47lbs. Check out this fit guide in case you have questions about dimensions in relation to the size of your sedan - http://kuatracks.com/workspace/media/uploads/product-guides/fit-guides/nv-fit-guide-with-ball-cam.pdf

I have a van with a 2 inch hitch and a car with a 1.25 inch hitch. If I purchase a Kuat NV 2 Bike Rack for a 2 inch hitch fro the Van is there an adapter available to adapt this down to the 1.25 inch hitch so that I can use this on the car also?

so can this fit both a 2" or 1.25" hitch?...

so can this fit both a 2" or 1.25" hitch? Why do some kuat models do both and this one doesn't? am I reading it wrong?

The NV is either 2" out of the box or 1.25" out of the box, you must choose, neither is adapter compatible, since the NV is the most rugged of the Kuat racks it needs to be for one or the other but not both to make sure weight distribution is sufficient on the hitch!

Just got my NV a few weeks ago and it is undoubtedly the top of the food chain in bike racks! ONLY thing Ive noticed when throwing the roadie on it - the front caliper brake can rub on the rubber mounting arm. Quick piece of painters tape across the brake, which I got in the habit of keeping in the car to protect my frames from inferior bike racks I've owned, problem solved. Simple.
