A lock scratches your bike's paint, weighes down your pack, and gets tangled up with everything else you're packing so that when you try to exhume it from your bag, you end up spilling the private contents of your life onto the sidewalk. But you need a lock. The Kuat Bottle Lock goes undercover as a water bottle. Great for commutes or quick runs around town, this sturdy little lock saves your back, your bag, your paint job, and a lot of time too.

  • Five-feed of 8mm braided steel cable coils inside the bottle lock to secure your frame and wheels
  • Bottle design fits into your bottle holder so you don't have to lug a lock around in your pack or scratch your paint job
  • Hidden bonus compartment holds cash, keys, or other stashables
  • Two keys keep you backed up in case you drop one in a sewage drain

Initial thoughts

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I tried this bad boy out today outside the gym, and then later at the library. The convenience of the thing is fantastic, I love having it right there in the bottle cage. (I still need to put a second cage on so that my water is still available while riding, but once I do it'll be perfect) . The lock threaded easily through both wheels, the frame, and the post, and the bottle stayed in the cage for easy put-away. The lock twists right up back into the bottle, and is ready to lock up at the next place. I'm not sure how secure the lock is, since its security rating isn't up on this site. I'd say it's perfect for going to the gym, grocery store, etc, but I wouldn't feel safe leaving my bike for more than a day or two with just this lock. Also, the hidden compartment doesn't seem like it can hold much, and is very easy to accidentally open. All in all, I think this bottle lock will come in handy and I'm excited to put it to more use.
