Lighter than the lightest road bike.
Getting to your favorite singletrack or strip of scenic pavement has never been easier. The 11-pound Kuat Beta-2 Bike Rack carries two bikes, up to 40 pounds each. It attaches at your two-inch receiver hitch, and it even folds down, out of the way, when you need access to the back of the vehicle. Anti-sway carriages keep your bikes from sliding around en route, and the Beta-2’s hand-tight cam system makes loading and unloading easy.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
So bought this for our 08' crv with 2" receiver hitch. Works awesome. Fits 2- 29er bikes which is hard to find. Granted mine 17" and my GF is a 15" so they off set a bit but they fit. When we had other brands (which shall remain nameless but you know who i mean) the bikes would never fit... I also love how light weight the rack is. We used to have hatchback racks and they were such a pain to get on compared to this one. Also not a lot of movement either when you are driving down the road. I mean there it's not going to be completely still but it doesn't have me looking in rear view mirror every 5 seconds to see if my bikes are going to fall of. I would say get it! you won't be disappointed.
Built by bikers for bikers.
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
It's easy to see that those who designed this also use this. Everything is so well thought out.
Too often I buy something and within a few uses find possible fixes, corrections, or improvements to a product. Not so with this rack.
-It fits SNUG in the hitch and doesn't bounce around.
-Fit both my all mountain Kona bike (decently big) and another full sized 29
-in the off season I take my rack off my car, this thing folds tiny, really good for storage.
So Freakin Light!
The fact that this hitch rack only weighs 11 lbs makes this a no brainer for bike riders of all sizes and abilities. This is truly the go anywhere stow anywhere 2 bike rack, unless you need room for 3, then I recommend the Alpha!!! Big fan of the anti-sway, a must have!
Hi, Both of my mountain bikes have angled top tubes. Will I be able to fit them on this rack at the same time? Thanks
What is the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the upright bar?
Does this rack tilt down when it's fully...
Does this rack tilt down when it's fully loaded as well?
Thanks for your question.
Unfortunately no, you cannot tilt this rack down while it is loaded. You will have to take the bikes off then disengage the pin to tilt the rack down and have access to the trunk. If you are looking for a hitch bike rack that you can tilt while it is loaded I suggest you look at item # THU0322. I have pasted a link below to take you right to that item.

I am looking for a rack that will haul two 29" Mtn bikes on the back of a Subaru forester. Does anyone have experience using this rack for those types of bikes? I am concerned about security, bike sway and ease of use.
Sarah, The ease of use is a huge asset to the Alpha or Beta because of the light weight of these racks at 11 and 13 lbs. Both are equipped with anti-sway construction built in. the Alpha also has the built in cable lock system, which you can add separately for the Beta. They both come pre assembled as well, another huge benefit. Made of Aluminum, so incredibly durable and sturdy.
Kuat was founded mainly on a Mountain riders lifestyle, so 29" bikes will do fine, might be a bit lopsided and a tight fit, but that will be with any hitch style hanging rack. The Sherpa is another great MT option, ideal for 29" bikes, a bit more expensive, but would be great on a Forester. Hope this helps!
