    One of a kind.

Pulling on the Kokatat Sea O2 Personal Flotation Device front tab releases a CO2 cartridge into the hidden internal air chamber and inflates this PFD for added flotation. While the Sea 02 Personal Flotation Device provides 7.5lb of buoyancy without air, it increases to an impressive 22.5lb when inflated. Kokatat added a manual inflate valve to conserve CO2 or to be used in emergencies. More along the in-the-boat side of things, this PFD comes with a mesh back to add comfort while paddling, and two front pockets hold all your on-the-water necessities.

    Less Bulk in Rough Conditions

This is my second SeaO2 (the first was destroyed in a fire) and I thought long and hard about shelling out $200 again. But there is no other PFD out there with this amount of flotation; period. I paddle some rough waters and prefer a PFD with less bulk but if I come out I would rather have lots of flotation. The SeaO2 provides the combination of both. If I'm going to be dragged by the tide out the Straits of Juan de Fuca I want to be at least floating on top. I keep my VHF in the big pocket and my GPS in the mesh pocket. This is spendy but worth it.

      least bulky,lots of flotation

Kokotat has a real winner here with a vest that you forget it's on yet has very safe, adjustable flotation. I have had one of these since they were introduced and have used it on many long paddling trips. This spring in Greece I capsized in the middle of a 15 mile crossing between islands in big rolling, breaking swells. When I found myself in the water holding on to my boat I thought about pulling the ripcord to inflate the vest but realized I was floating fine without it and that the extra bulk of an inflated vest would make the re-entry more cumbersome. What I learned is I'd only use the vest inflated if I would end up spending much more time in the water.
The one big pocket holds my EBIRB with expandable room for other stuff and the smaller pocket with stretch sides holds my VHF radio firmly. Both pockets have plastic D's for tethering contents.
I especially like the fact the lower back of the vest is just mesh and straps not interfering with my seat back.
The vest is very adjustable for fit and comfort. Overall the ultimate sea kayaking life jacket!

Can a fixed blade dive knife be fastened to the right side of the Kokatat Sea O2 pfd without affecting the air/gas augmented flotation?

What is is the overall height of the back with out the mesh?
What is the overall height in front?

        Jacket : S/M

Back = 8" not including the mesh
Back = 16" including the mesh
Overall height in front = 13.5"

This is my second SeaO2. I like to use it in rough conditions because it's less bulky but offers more buoyancy if you come out. I paddle kayaks with backbands (not seat backs) and it's been very comfortable. If you want more buoyancy than a typical adult's PFD but without the bulk this is an excellent choice. Good pockets too.
