    Love these shorts

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large

A lot of pockets, which is always key when you are on the go. Very versatile short and can use it for anything from a nice short hike to walking around town getting a bit to eat.

    Not durable at all

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

Material is nice and design is good, a lot of pockets which is a plus. But the durability of dye/finish is awful. After just a few days of normal use they developed a couple of discolorations and white spots. The color looks uneven.

    A short for all occasions

I bought this short as a gift for my dad. I bought a large for him thinking that the length would be better. They were bit too large for his narrow waist. He decided to keep them and use a belt.

My personal experience with Kuhl pants has been very positive. I've worked trail work in rough terrain and humid climates with some of their full length pants and they offer great protection from the elements.

This specific short is very versatile. It could be used for casual Fall-Spring walks, more intensive hikes, to manual labor positions. The cotton just feels hearty, like if you were the catch the material on a sharp edge it would resist abrasion.

This short has a bunch of pockets for phones, keys, knives and all other manly accessories.

    Lightweight and handy

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

In a North Carolina summertime, these shorts shine. Tough but lightweight fabric, mesh pockets, plus zip-open vents--these are the means to cool. Add to that a fit that gives free leg movement and we're better than most. The way Kuhl did the cargo pockets puts them way ahead. Small, medium and large mean you have places to fit what you need to haul, from sunglasses to smartphones to a wad of stash.

Those are the biggies. The waist adjustment straps--not for me. Fabric durability--OK, but wear is what happens when you have these on all the time. This pair is my second, and not my last.

Best pair of shorts I own

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: xxl

These shorts are very comfortable and fit perfect. You can move around in them with ease without any restrictions. Great product from kuhl.

    Not So Kool

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I ordered three large in carbon, gun metal and khaki. Neither matched Kuhl's website colors and they all fit differently! The side strap buckles feel cheep and can open up easily if brushed up against something.

I wear medium but was told to go with large and for the most part they do fit overall. I'm almost certain a medium would have left me with hipster crotch which would have been an immediate return.

I exchanged the gun metal because it was too big at the waist and the new one fit a little better. At least it doesn't fall down like the original; I don't do plumber's crack.

I left two different 3 star rating reviews on the manufacturer's web site but they never published them. It seems they only publish 4 and 5 star ratings. They obviously have QC issues with color inconsistency, sizing and stitching at their china plants.

It could have been a 4 star product.

    Great Shorts

My husband previously wore a cotton cargo short that required a lot of pressing. These shorts are light weight and can be dried in a short amount of time with no ironing. They fit true to size, have lots of pockets and even a smaller one to store you're glasses. We have now ordered 2 more pair. Just a comfortable pair of shorts.

      Best shorts I've owned

Well worth the cheese - these shorts rock. Cool, lightwieght, breathable, durable, comfortable, and can be used for anything - even swimming.

I've noticed the main con for these babies is that the zippers rattle when walking. This is true - however - there's a tiny fabric pocket where the zipper meets the shorts to close the cargo pocket. You can tuck the zipper handle into these pockets on both sides and problem solved. No rattling!

I bought the brown first - came back on here to buy the kakhis.

        These things rock.

        High Durability

I wore these shorts for 8 months while on an ultra light backpacking trip in Southeast Asia. They were worn every day for almost 190 days straight and their durability impressed me. These were the ONLY shorts I brought and I washed them nightly in the hotel room sink with all different kinds of detergent, soap and shampoo. At the end of the trip I had no failed stitching and the pockets held up to serious abuse. I took them climbing, white water rafting, hiking, canyoning, SCUBA diving and swimming in salt water. Even after the salt water exposure the zippers held up well. They are light weight, dry quickly and hold up to the extremes. Towards the end of the trip the khaki color started turning green for some reason, but overall they are great shorts.

          Great Shorts!

Love these shorts!! Fit great, cool and light. Only issue is on the newer versions the zippers on the side pockets rattle as you walk. Would recommend these to anyone!

Great fit and nice cargo pockets

I'm 6'5" and 210lb with a 36in waist and got the XL - I just needed to take the belt straps in 1" total. Nice secure buckles on the belt straps. Good length (mid-kneecap) and the fabric is nice. Seems like it will take a beating, but soft/pliable and won't chafe. Looking forward to getting out in these. I have larger thighs and high stepping in these shorts doesn't tighten up the crotch like other shorts - woot. Velcro on three different sized cargo pockets is nice for quick access. Think I'll get another pair eventually.

              Sizing concerns

I like the shorts but the sizing needs some work - large is 34-36 and I am a 36 with Columbia shorts sizing. The large is too tight its not a 36 and when I go to the XL 38-40 I have to use the sizing tabs on the side to pull the waist in all the way. I wish a large was 36-38. I like the feel and features but the sizing needs some work.

                love them the best

love these my wife thought a large wouldnt fit but they fit real good and allways used them on the trail

                  Z Best Shorts EVER!

I love Zees shorts zay are Z best! Seriously, great feeling fabric breathes very good but still feels rugged enough to take any camping/hiking/climbing trip head on. These shorts seem to be very well thought out as far as the pockets and the fit. My favorite thing is the adjustable waist...brilliant. USA made baby!

The 12in inseam means these actually fit like "normal" cargo shorts that most people are used to these days (the come all the way down to your knees). I'm 6ft 170lbs with a 32in waist and the size medium fit perfect.

                    Definitely recommended!

                    Unanswered Question

I discovered (after putting it in the cart) that some Kuhl shorts that show up in your "outlet" site are in fact regular price. Obviously I was disappointed that your BUMP50 promotion didn't apply here. So why don't you just eliminate regular priced stuff from this part of your site to save customers from disappointment? I'm sure it's not that difficult to do these days.

Anyone experience Kuhl fit issues from identical products in different colors? Just bought 2 pair z cargo's and waists are slightly different one snug one perfect, same size large.

I purchased three large Z-Cargo in Khaki, Carbon and Gun Metal and the last one would fall down to my ankles. The Carbon fit better for me and the Khaki was okay; I'm usually a medium and glad I got the large for crotch space. I bet the medium would have killed me and returned all of them.

None of the colors were the same as Kuhl's website either.

Attached is a picture with the adjustments made to waist straps.

My waist is 33. I am thinking of ordering the large, instead of the medium. Any suggestions on the sizing? Do they run a little big or a little small?

Does the snap button on these come undone every time you bend over like all the other kuhl pants/shorts?
