A pant that can keep up with your wild days in the mountains.

The only way to make a full day of bouldering at your favorite local site better is to do it with the Kühl Rydr Pant, which features stretchy fabric, a gusseted crotch, and articulated knees for comfort in the crux. This slightly stretchy cotton twill pant has a wider-leg for thick-thighed athletes so you won’t feel constricted when you go for a heel hook. The double-needle bar tacks and two-layer pockets and hems provide extra reinforcement while you climb, hike, or scramble up a rugged goat path.

    Same Sizes Vary

Maybe the dye is supposed to be like this. Runs after first wash - in cold. Cut on these particular jeans is comfortable. Many pant cuts are too tight in the thighs for me. These are good. Material seems acceptable. Time will tell. Double stitching is nice.

Other Kuhl pants I have owned have had quality control issues. If you need to return something, definitely use BC. Kuhl is NOT customer friendly savvy. Why do I own several Kuhl pants? Gifts from others.

I would buy these again, but never at full price.

    Durable and stylin!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought for my husband. His review..."Great pants! They're super durable and they look good. I wear them to work (casual software company) and on hikes in the mountains. Probably gonna get another pair because they have become my go-to pants."

    Nice pants, crap dye.

I've bought a few pairs of these, and they are some of my favorite pants.

The Good: Durable fabric and awesome stitching. They are reinforced in a couple key areas, such as the back of the leg cuff to prevent fraying. The fly has a nice button and strong zipper. Excellent work pants, and look good enough to go to work. I have gotten some positive comments on them out in town. They sit loose enough to be comfortable, but not so much that they look dumpy or baggy.

The Bad: The dye is garbage, in my opinion. It gives them the well used look after the first couple washings. The pants are not permanent press, so you'll need to press them if you're wearing them to the office.

Also, the dark color khaki is misleading in the pictures. It's really more of an olive color.

    Great pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got them to wear for every day pants, works great on evenings and during the day at work. Pants run a little long in length had to drop a length. Looking to get more in different colors. Added - Got a great deal of comments from fellow employees on how great this look, got me three more pair. Great everyday pants and not blue jeans like everyone else is wearing. Looks different and fees great.

    Best pants ever!

I wear these bad boys (5 pairs) hiking, to work, and for nights out. They're perfect in all situations, fit great over my ski, bike, sprint thighs and glutes. Super-durable. Way easy care. Most of the reviews here rave about them, with the only exception being that khaki (in Kuhl) means olive. Embrace it! Still goes with everything and gives you a different look than all the other dudes at "the office."

    Kuhl Rydr Men's Pants

    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 6' 2"
      Weight: 210 lbs
      Size Purchased: 36x32

These are great quality pants that are perfect for people with athletic builds... large glutes and thigh muscles. They are well constructed and materials are rugged. They are not permanent press out of the dryer and need to be ironed if you are using for business/work. The articulated knees and gusseted crotch make these pants very comfortable. I used to be a dedicated user of North Face Paramount pants... never again.

    Athletic legs rejoice!

Through years of playing hockey, riding bikes and skiing I have developed larger than average thighs. I have always had a tough time finding pants that fit. I have had to increase waist size on other pants in order to get fit that it not tight in the legs.

Furthermore, these pants are quality made and look good. They are durable and easy to wash without issues like shrinking.

    KUHL pants are great!

They are durable, comfortable and fit athletic bodies perfectly. I originally bought one pair at a clearance sale to try them out and I now have 5 pairs in different colors and styles. In addition to being durable and comfortable, the look good as well.

    Misleading Color

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I ordered the Dark Khaki and after one wash, they are certainly more of a dark olive color. Nothing close to any shade of khaki I have ever seen. They look nice though, and are durable yet comfortable. I will be ordering another in Camel to hopefully get closer to the khaki color.

    Awesome Pants!!!!!

I am a school teacher and I wear Khaki pants almost every day. I was looking for a pair that would last. I ordered one pair and loved them so much that I ordered three more. They are the most durable pants that I have ever had and they are very comfortable.

    careful about sizing and colors

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

I tried on a 34x34 and a 33x32. I typically buy a 33 or 34 waist in other brands and I found both the 33 and 34 to fit fine in the waist and I could wear either. But the length was a totally different story. Normally when I purchase a 32 I regret it, ends up being too short, and 34's are hit and miss depending on brand and fit, some are perfect, some the pant leg touches the floor. These Kuhl's are very long! the 32 fit more lore like a 33/34 in other brands and fit me perfect. The 34 on the other hand was almost like a 36 length and there is no way I could have worn it without rolling up the pant legs. So from the two I tried on if you are on the fence about inseam go with the shorter of your choices! This is in comparison to other brands I've purchased, but using a measuring tape to measure my inseam I'd say they are pretty close to accurate, maybe 1" longer.

Colors as others have mentioned are hard to judge, the dark khaki was not what I expected. It's nice looking but read Jim's review below for a description of what it looks like. It's much darker and greener than expected.
The rest of the pant feels like a sturdy well made jean that I should enjoy for many many years! Really like the fit of the 33x32 and will be wearing them a lot. The 34x34 I returned with BC's awesome and easy return policy.

    well

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

when I buy pants, i wear them pretty much daily to work and play, and also casual until they become to worn to wear to work. these are pretty durable, and comfortable enough to be that near perfect pair. they fall way short in the color dye department however. "Wash inside out" is the directions to prevent crazy color fade/streaking. For a pant company saying these are for hiking, climbing and work, that is a little weird because washing pants inside out doesn't get them too clean in my world. other than the poor dyes used, they are great.

Great Pants But Hard To Determine Colors

    • Gender: Male
    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I have two pair of Rydr pants and I think they're great. The color swatches can be a little misleading and it's even harder to determine the true colors after several washes, as the pants are designed to have a "broken in" look from the beginning. My first pair is "dark khaki" which to me is not traditional khaki at all. It's more of a brown with a hint of olive. Nice look though. My other pair is "camel" which to me is more like what I'd consider a traditional khaki color. The color swatches on Backcountry's site and on KUHL's site are a bit different. Also, remember to wash them inside out. If I really needed more than 2 pair, I'd buy more, but something tells me that these might last forever.

    Quality contol?

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

Not happy. Got two pairs of these pants. Both are size 33 waist, but they fit completely different. 1 inch different in the waist, much looser/tighter fit in the crotch. Bought the pairs from different vendors, and they were both washed, so don't know which one is wrong and cannot return. One of the button snaps on one pair is also a bit weak and comes undone easy.Very disappointed by these $80 pants. When I buy pants for $20, they are completely consistent in construction. Shocked $80 pants cant get this right. Great concepts behind these pants, but unfortunately I would look elsewhere.

    Awesome pants

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

Love the color (camel). Its a solid tan, but a little bit darker so its not like every other pair you have.

The fit seems to run a little bit large to me.

Got them in and took em on a quick hike. Really like the way the knees are cut. Really helps with movement and climbing. You dont feel bound by them when climbing around.

The button closure is a wierd style, not the normal button. I'm curious to see how that holds up.

    Go to Pants

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs large

These are my go-to pants. When not at work, these are on. They do fit a bit large and long. I'm usually 34x32 and with these I'm 33x30.

Delivers Big on Fit and Fabric

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

The two most important things I look for in pants are fit and fabric, and the KUHL Rydr pant delivers big on both. The Euro twill fabric reminds me of a really nice waxed canvas; it feels slightly stiff, durable, and it gets better with age. A touch of spandex combines with the gusseted crotch and articulated knees for complete freedom of movement. I was also pleased to discover that mosquitoes can’t bite through the fabric, which was a huge plus on this trip.
