Get It Before Labor Day Weekend—Order With Free 2-Day* by 5pm MT 9/2/15

Description

A pant that can keep up with your wild days in the mountains.

The only way to make a full day of bouldering at your favorite local site better is to do it with the Kühl Rydr Pant, which features stretchy fabric, a gusseted crotch, and articulated knees for comfort in the crux. This slightly stretchy cotton twill pant has a wider-leg for thick-thighed athletes so you won’t feel constricted when you go for a heel hook. The double-needle bar tacks and two-layer pockets and hems provide extra reinforcement while you climb, hike, or scramble up a rugged goat path.

KUHL pants are great!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 5' 11"
    Weight: 165 lbs

They are durable, comfortable and fit athletic bodies perfectly. I originally bought one pair at a clearance sale to try them out and I now have 5 pairs in different colors and styles. In addition to being durable and comfortable, the look good as well.

Misleading Color

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I ordered the Dark Khaki and after one wash, they are certainly more of a dark olive color. Nothing close to any shade of khaki I have ever seen. They look nice though, and are durable yet comfortable. I will be ordering another in Camel to hopefully get closer to the khaki color.

Awesome Pants!!!!!

I am a school teacher and I wear Khaki pants almost every day. I was looking for a pair that would last. I ordered one pair and loved them so much that I ordered three more. They are the most durable pants that I have ever had and they are very comfortable.

careful about sizing and colors

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

I tried on a 34x34 and a 33x32. I typically buy a 33 or 34 waist in other brands and I found both the 33 and 34 to fit fine in the waist and I could wear either. But the length was a totally different story. Normally when I purchase a 32 I regret it, ends up being too short, and 34's are hit and miss depending on brand and fit, some are perfect, some the pant leg touches the floor. These Kuhl's are very long! the 32 fit more lore like a 33/34 in other brands and fit me perfect. The 34 on the other hand was almost like a 36 length and there is no way I could have worn it without rolling up the pant legs. So from the two I tried on if you are on the fence about inseam go with the shorter of your choices! This is in comparison to other brands I've purchased, but using a measuring tape to measure my inseam I'd say they are pretty close to accurate, maybe 1" longer.

Colors as others have mentioned are hard to judge, the dark khaki was not what I expected. It's nice looking but read Jim's review below for a description of what it looks like. It's much darker and greener than expected.
The rest of the pant feels like a sturdy well made jean that I should enjoy for many many years! Really like the fit of the 33x32 and will be wearing them a lot. The 34x34 I returned with BC's awesome and easy return policy.

well

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

when I buy pants, i wear them pretty much daily to work and play, and also casual until they become to worn to wear to work. these are pretty durable, and comfortable enough to be that near perfect pair. they fall way short in the color dye department however. "Wash inside out" is the directions to prevent crazy color fade/streaking. For a pant company saying these are for hiking, climbing and work, that is a little weird because washing pants inside out doesn't get them too clean in my world. other than the poor dyes used, they are great.

Great Pants But Hard To Determine Colors

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

I have two pair of Rydr pants and I think they're great. The color swatches can be a little misleading and it's even harder to determine the true colors after several washes, as the pants are designed to have a "broken in" look from the beginning. My first pair is "dark khaki" which to me is not traditional khaki at all. It's more of a brown with a hint of olive. Nice look though. My other pair is "camel" which to me is more like what I'd consider a traditional khaki color. The color swatches on Backcountry's site and on KUHL's site are a bit different. Also, remember to wash them inside out. If I really needed more than 2 pair, I'd buy more, but something tells me that these might last forever.

Quality contol?

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

Not happy. Got two pairs of these pants. Both are size 33 waist, but they fit completely different. 1 inch different in the waist, much looser/tighter fit in the crotch. Bought the pairs from different vendors, and they were both washed, so don't know which one is wrong and cannot return. One of the button snaps on one pair is also a bit weak and comes undone easy.Very disappointed by these $80 pants. When I buy pants for $20, they are completely consistent in construction. Shocked $80 pants cant get this right. Great concepts behind these pants, but unfortunately I would look elsewhere.

Awesome pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

Love the color (camel). Its a solid tan, but a little bit darker so its not like every other pair you have.

The fit seems to run a little bit large to me.

Got them in and took em on a quick hike. Really like the way the knees are cut. Really helps with movement and climbing. You dont feel bound by them when climbing around.

The button closure is a wierd style, not the normal button. I'm curious to see how that holds up.

Go to Pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

These are my go-to pants. When not at work, these are on. They do fit a bit large and long. I'm usually 34x32 and with these I'm 33x30.

Delivers Big on Fit and Fabric

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

The two most important things I look for in pants are fit and fabric, and the KUHL Rydr pant delivers big on both. The Euro twill fabric reminds me of a really nice waxed canvas; it feels slightly stiff, durable, and it gets better with age. A touch of spandex combines with the gusseted crotch and articulated knees for complete freedom of movement. I was also pleased to discover that mosquitoes can’t bite through the fabric, which was a huge plus on this trip.

Favorite Pants -

  • Fit: True to size

I now have three pair of the Kuhl Rydr pants and love them. I have found they fit true to size. I mostly use them for casual wear and to the office. I have traveled with them - Wore a pair on the flight to New Zealand and was very thankful for their roominess. Enjoyed some hiking in them while in New Zealand. While they require a little extra care (turning them inside for washing), they are rugged, comfortable and my go-to pants nearly every day.

Not climbing pants

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Don't use these for rock-climbing if you plan to do any kind of knee-barring. I tore mine up within a month of wearing them outside climbing on southeastern sandstone.

To be fair, I'm not sure they're designed for rock climbing. But, they are pants made by an outdoors manufacturer that makes other pants for rock climbing so I thought I'd give them a try. I would have just kept wearing them to the office for a while, but I didn't read the washing instructions and I scuffed and marked them up by not turning them inside out the first few times I washed them.

Nice looking pants, but you're better off saving these for office/casual pants.

Inconsistent sizing!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
  • Fit: Runs large

Great looking pants, sturdy, but seriously, this is 2014, and it's not that hard to properly sew a 34x32 pants. The bottoms were so bunchy on these they are a 36 with any other major brand. I'm not just being picky, it's a good 4" past the bottom of my shoe. I've been wearing 32" pants for 15 years now, it's not that hard to measure the fabric before sewing it. It's too bad, but I'm not paying $80.00 for pants that don't fit. And I'm not going to waste my time ordering and reordering a pair until I receive a pair that fits.

I'm a 32" inseam as well, but as with most online clothing shopping, perhaps it would be more benificial to find a store in your area that also stocks these, and give them a quick test fit. I learned the hard way ordering a Carhartt jacket online, only to find out I needed a size smaller.

Responded on

I totally agree, I have 3 different styles of pants from Kuhl, all "full" cut and every pair fits differently in length and waist, some are looser, some are tighter. A 32" inseam in fine on one and a 34" inseam is needed on the other. Ended up buying some iron works pants from LLBEAN which are very nice after getting tired of trying on Kuhls and all fitting differently.

Who do we have to kill around here to get some longee inseam pants?! Not everyone is a 32....

Best Answer Responded on

Just almost everyone is... Kuhl Stocks 34" and 36" inseams on their website though, maybe just order directly from them?

Responded on

Good luck with that, anything over 32" is usually sold out on Kuhl site.

Responded on

Yeah, JR, with you there bro. I can make do with 32" inseams, but definitely prefer 34" and theyre hard to find.

awesome fit!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These pants have a super rugged material. When I first started wearing them they sounded like snowpants when they rubbed together. After a wash or two they broke in and now fit very comfortably. These pants are true to size and have a good amount of room in the legs great for working and casual wear.

My dad approves

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

got my dad these pants for a gift and am surprised about how much he loves these pants. He went out and bought two more pairs of KUHL pants. He tells me the fit amazingly, comfortable but with a full range of motion. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Great pants

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

These pants, I bought 2, are a great everyday work/office pant. They are a good substitute for jeans. so far, after a month, they have held up well. Nice roomy, mobile fit.
