Bought this to use for motorcycle camping. I use it maybe 10 times per year and after 6 years it still works well. Super easy to set up, under 5 minutes easily. Well ventilated and I've never gotten wet.
Good Tent!

This is a good tent. I bought it (back in 2005) instead of the more expensive North Face or MSR. Very quick and simple setup. I wish the rain fly wrapped all the way around and there was more ventilation to reduce the condensation that happens on the inside walls. Overall, I've been very pleased with this tent, however, it's lived a good life and is ready to retire. So, now I'm looking to purchase a MSR Mutha Hubba now.

What is a bath-tub floor?

A bath-tub floor is one in which the seams between the walls of the tent body and the floor are a few inches off the ground. This helps with preventing water from entering the tent were wind to drive the rain sideways or from other sources. Also, in some cases, it allows the fly to be higher off the ground and thus give more ventilation.

Does anyone know how to correctly attach the footprint? The footprint didn't come with instructions and the tent instructions don't mention it, as the footprint is sold separately. Thanks

The footprint attaches by placing the poles through the grommets on the footprint first and then the grommets on the tent. Hope this helps...

Does this tent have any problems with getting the rainfly taunt with no wrinkles? Are there enough guy points where they need to be to keep heavy wind from destroying the tent? And finally is it a full length rainfly? or how close is it to the ground?

I don't know about how taunt it gets but it doesn't have any problems getting taut.

No, it has cinching straps at each corner.

This tent started it all for me

This is the tent that got my bro and i into backpacking. Many stormy nights, and many starry nights. We have had this tent for 6 years now and it still holds up to any kind of trip! It doesn't see as much use as it used to, but this is the tent that started it all for me! Now serves as a great backup/extra tent.
Unreal value for the price.
Tent bag is awful

It is a real nice tent, easy to set up. My only real complaint about this tent is the bag. The bag that holds all of the gear has just fallen apart after a few times of use. I use this for backpacking and I can no longer use any of the bags that came with it in fear that the stakes and poles might fall out on the trail.

This tent is so easy to set up. I was able to put it all up, tent, rain fly, gear loft, and all in less than 15 minutes... before I even saw that directions were sent with the tent. Its a little heavy, so I've only used it for car camping. I am going to replace the fiberglass poles with aluminum or carbon fiber, then this tent will become my backpacking tent. Probably going to add some waterproofing to the seams before I do that though, just in case...

Can this tent take heavy rain? I'm planning a long 1-person trip all over the US and am wondering if this tent can take it

I wouldnt use this tent for it but you could. You would have to seam seal all the seams and make sure to use a footprint so you dont get a hole in your tent floor but thats the same for any tent

This tent would be pretty good but I think you'd want a full cover fly like the Gunnison 2.1.

I have survived many rainstorms, downpours, heavy winds, even snowstorms. Never had in issue with water getting in... This tent is pretty bomber considering how cheap it is.

A tent that can take some wind...

is always welcomed by a mountaintop hiker. I recently purchased the Yellowstone 2 and have to say that so far I am very pleased with the end product. The first night I set it up (which, by the way, is a piece of cake) was upon a rocky ridge at Red River Gorge, KY. There was a good breeze up there, a constant 20+ mph, and I awoke around 5am to probably 40 mph gusts. The tent shook a little, but that was it.
It packs up fairly small, looks cool and is the perfect size and weight for 1 person. It could fit a couple comfortably, and you might, depending on if your a bear or a twig, be able to keep your packs inside.
Great value

Easy to set up and a decent all around small tent. A little cozy for two people and their gear, but just push those packs outside. Haven't really tested it in rain yet, but Kelty is a decent brand.
Easy and Light, but small.

There have been several times when we've gotten sidetracked on the trail and ended up putting this in the dark. It was never a problem. There are only two poles that shoot across the middle and one for the rain fly. The fly also clips straight to the dome where the stakes hold down the tent. Plenty of room for 2, but I would recommend leaving your pack out if at all possible. If this is impossible, you will have to either use it as a pillow or footrest. There definitely won't be enough room for 2 people and 2 packs.
Perfect for Summer.

This tent was insanely easy to put together and the ventilation was great. If fit me and all of my gear perfectly; however, it would be REALLY tight with 2 people. Good value.

I just got back from RAGBRAI, a huge bike ride across Iowa (12,000 people). I am not a big camper and I found this tent incredibly easy to set up - even easier if you stake down the corners first. It rained two nights, but I stayed dry. I am VERY pleased!

Got this tent little over a year ago, used dozen times or so and it has been great! Used in light rain nice and dry even though I didn't have a footprint. Used in pretty good wind (20-25mpg constant) and held up well. Little gear shelf is nice and side pockets are great. only down side is if using for 2 people there is no vestibule and def not enough room for 2 people + 2 sets of gear. but is Great for 1.
