Description

A solid, weather-resistant family tent that you all will learn to love quickly.

Your family deserves a roomy, dry place to rest after you lead them over a big mountain. The Kelty Trail Ridge 4 Tent provides plenty of space to shelter four people during your spring, summer, or fall trips. The tapered pole design and nearly vertical walls maximize this freestanding dome's livable space, and with two doors and vestibules, you'll have all the room you need to make it through a long weekend adventure with the spouse and kids.
  • Waterproof fly and floor fabric feature fully taped seams for added protection from rainstorms and soggy weather
  • ArcEdge floor means the floor material extends a few inches up the tent walls to reduce seam-to-ground contact
  • Color-coded clips simplify the pitching process so you can trust the kids with the task
  • Two 15-square-foot vestibules give your family plenty of dry space outside the tent for shoes, packs, and pet salamanders
  • Mesh walls and fly vents allow for cross-breezes and radiate four bodies' worth of heat outward so you don't get muggy during summer trips
  • Internal storage pockets hold your headlamp or cell phone just in case you need them throughout the night
  • Double-door design and silent zipper pulls let you head out to water a bush without waking anyone else in the tent
  • Footprint sold separately

This was my second Kelty tent and I like both of them. I gave the first one to my daughter who continues to enjoy it. I bought this one based on the stated dimensions with plans to use two cots inside the tent placing them parrellel to the solid walls. Unfortunately the cots did not fit so I returned the tent.

side walls go straight up allowing more head room. dual layers keep water outside where it belongs

This tent is a very easy set up. I was surprised to find out that the footprint is sold separately, so I ended up having to spend a bit more money. There aren't any bells and whistles to this tent. It is very straight forward, and if that is what you like, then this tent is for you. The two vestibules are a plus and gives a lot of extra open room which I like especially in the hot sun.

How would this tent hold up to camping in the Olympic rainforests?

If you plan on carrying it, look elsewhere. This tent weighs more than all of my camping gear combined!

if you're just going to drive somewhere and camp out of the vehicle, it will hold up just fine.

Dave is right about the carry thing. The full coverage rainfly means you should be nice a dry if your question is about precip.

I think the Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 3 would suit your needs nicely- great sky view and zippered mesh panel

The Kelty is bigger but weighs 3 lbs more, being a 4 person tent
The NF is smaller and lighter. But both are pretty basic 3 season tents

There is substantially more headroom and livable space in the Kelty due to how the poles are pre-bent making the walls much more vertical.

i wanted something a little roomier than most 4 man tents seem to be and this delivered. Had plenty of room for a queen size mattress plus 2 dogs and extra space for gear. I really liked the the 2 large vestibules and the it has plenty of mesh for those hot summer camping trips... plus those vents are an added bonus! Also, setup was a snap.

Great tent.. very spacious

I needed to see if one person can set up. I need to see the amount of space the packed tent bag uses up in a canoe. The speeded up version is very non-helpful.
