Description

Store your stuff in the Redtail while you go from the schoolyard to the trailhead.

The Kelty Redtail Backpack goes from classroom to trailhead with you. Plenty of cargo space holds your textbooks or extra layers. Two side pockets hold water bottles, and a sleeve holds your water bladder. There are lots of pockets so you can keep your phone, keys, wallet and other small items organized whether you are heading to school or out for a day hike.

5 yrs have gone by and the waterproofing laminate inside is peeling away; not waterproof anymore.
So I ordered the Kelty Redtail 30 Backpack-1800cu in., as it was close in configuration/ style & volume of my old one.
I received it in the mail and to my disappointment the main zipper was smaller in size, (skinny, wimpy, thinner mesh), and appeared weaker than my old one. This was the main zipper too, which is the heart of the whole backpack; hate to sound negative here but also observed that all the, (unpadded), straps were more narrow than my old one. One good feature about the main opening was the added rain flap over the zipper; odd though that it was lacking one on the smaller outside pocket designed for organizing pens, wheelbook, calculator, reading glasses and such.
Overall the makers of the new Kelty Redtail 30 Backpack appeared to be SCRIMPING on the materials used for their NEW product.

Can this hold a laptop with a 15in screen?

I'd measure your laptops dimensions and see if they will fit in the pack's dimensions:

Length: 21 in / 53 cm
Width: 13.5 in / 34 cm
Depth: 13 in / 33 cm

I use this pack for weekend casual trips or for a sport orientated day pack. I was able to fit everything I needed for either case. Plenty of small compartments as well as ample room for bladder. Shoulder straps are comfy and good adjustment. Great pack overall.

Does this pack have a laptop sleeve able to fit a computer that's roughly 14.5 in x 10 in?
