Whether you hike through a canyon in Zion National Park or throngs of people in New York, trust the seam-taped Kelty Range Backpack to carry your urban or outdoor gear comfortably. Kelty gave this sporty daypack a padded internal laptop sleeve to keep your computer safe during your commute. When you leave the city behind, daisy chain attachment points let you clip on some gear and removable compression straps keep the cargo stable while you scramble. When you carry some water shoes for a dayhike or a mess of books for class, you'll appreciate the Range Backpack's padded shoulder straps and no-sweat back panel. A clip point on the shoulder strap keeps your cell phone, iPod, or GPS within easy reach.
Bottom Line: Slip into the Kelty Range Backpack and set out on your next urban or outdoor adventure.
I am a graduate student and I couldn't be happier with the Range as a school-pack. It has plenty of pockets and the padded laptop pocket holds my 13" MBP without a problem. Some reviews expressed concern about the sturdiness of the bottom material, but I haven't seen any wear on mine even with heavy use. I appreciate the space of the Range, but am grateful that it looks like a normal backpack and not like a huge hiking-pack. I can't wait to find an excuse to buy another!
I love this backpack! I have a lot of backpacks, but they were too big, too small, too dorky, too bright, etc. This backpack is light when it's empty, but it holds a lot and is comfortable. I love that it has a lot of pockets, and the waist support straps are there if you want them. The laptop sleeve is great, as is the other sleeve that I use for loose papers. The only thing that bothers me slightly is that it seems too long for how wide it is. But maybe that's typical of these low-key hiking backpacks. Regardless, I love it!

Excellent daypack. Very lightweight, but sturdy. Lot's of well designed pockets and compartments. I own several packs for different uses, but this one has the best configuation of all of them. Stands well on it's own when set down. I'd highly recommend this pack.
I teach in New York and am constantly shuttling around on the subway carrying, a laptop, papers, books, gym clothes, snacks. I find the bag very comfortable on my back and shoulders. Very ergometric (even for a pregnant woman!) The compartments are very well organized and the padding in the straps and back are well designed. The bag is very spacious and can carry a ton, and still feels lighter than it actually is.
I use this primarily for carrying my laptop and textbooks. I like it quite a bit after about 1 month of use. Very convenient pockets for supplies, laptop pocket works well. I am concerned that the bottom panel (the part that sits on the ground when you put the pack down) might not be durable, as it is thinner than most other packs I have had. Time will tell.
Otherwise, great around town pack, and I suspect it would be a very good daypack on the trail.
This was my first Kelty, first impressions are that this is a great pack; comfortable and well built. The computer compartment fits my zeroshock case with my 13.3in vaio perfectly. It is lightweight and I have no doubts it will hold up for a long time. Well designed. I did a lot of research prior to purchase and bought this without actually seeing it in person as I did others I was looking at, mainly ones from TNF. I wish I'd bought this sooner. It is a good versatile pack for city and occasional trail use for those who don't need a more advanced/bigger pack.
