on the down low

(photo) the Lowdown in the lower left, camping along Cascade Lake, Orcas Island, WA.

Whenever I bust out my Kelty Lowdown Chair, I usually get weird looks and at least one person asking why I have a baby camp chair. Then they try it (the first rule of camp chairs is that you never end up sitting in the one your bring) and turn into Lowdown BELIEVERS. Somehow being lower to the ground makes it extremely comfortable and loungey. I think the lack of structure in the lower back/seat area promotes (comfy) slouching, and the ground in front of you turns into an awesome foot rest. You can basically just sprawl out sitting in this thing. Other much-appreciated aspects of this chair are the large cupholder compartments in the armrest, the included bottle opener, and the carrying case with a strap (that also holds up to 10 cans of beverages in addition to the chair.) I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to a standard-issue-height camp chair.

Up your relaxin' game!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

After all too many years looking for the 'perfect' camp chair, I can finally sit back, relax, and enjoy this Kelty Lowdown!

What truly sets this chair apart from most for me is the fact that the lower back panel is not fixed to the frame; the vast majority of camp chairs out there have a 90 degree angle created at the back panel due to this. When relaxing at camp, I never find myself practicing perfect posture and instead am typically found in a pretty deep slouch, the Lowdown supports this beautifully.

Top this chair off with a massive cupholder with a divider that can move out of the way to accommodate larger items or leave it in place and there is still enough room for your standard 32oz Nalgene and your favorite canned/bottled beverage.

Now time to put your order in, get off your computer, and get the heck outside to enjoy your awesome new chair!

What is the seat height? I would assume something around 14" off the ground...
