Tent is lightweight and thin material. This is mandatory for more than one season of use.
Why is the footprint for Kelty Gunnison 3.1 about 10' smaller
Why is the footprint for Kelty Gunnison 3.1 about 10' smaller than the floor of the tent on each side?

That's what I thought, so I double checked all the labels, they are all Gunnison 3.1 (tent and footprint). And the dimensions listed on the packaging of the footprint are in fact 10in smaller on each side. Is that normal? But dimensions are not listed on the website, so you don't really know what you are buying, just relying on the model.

You could have the wrong footprint for the tent you have. It sounds like you have one size larger tent than the footprint.

This will keep your tent in better shape for a longer time than anything else you can do for it. I would much rather buy a new footprint every few years than a tent every few years.
