The Kelty Cloud Backpack uses Spectra fabric with Kevlar thread reinforcements to maintain durability while keeping a low 4lb 7oz weight. Load up the massive 86L of cargo space for the approach to base camp, then take off the three large cargo pockets to save weight and cut down on space for an alpine-style push. You can also remove the lid and waist-belt to shave even more weight from this Kelty pack when you’re on a highly technical climb where grams count. Kelty added gear loops to hold your crevasse-rescue kit during glacier travel, and a well-padded suspension system to keep you comfortable when you’re really loaded down.

Bottom Line: Approach, climb, and go home with a summit in the bag.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Why would anyone ever spend $800 on a pack? You could buy several of different sizes and uses for the same amount, if not less.

Seriously not trying to be a gear snob but $800 for anything made by Kelty is ridiculous. Get a top of the line Osprey for half that....or a Gregory...or hire a Sherpa for a trip. Like someone else suggested, it does resemble a garbage bag, albeit with "nice" embroidery.

Hey...it is only about half the price of McHale dyneema pack and pretty much does the same job with flying colors(well white anyways :)

IT looks like a kitchen trash sack in the pictures at least most backpacks look good when they are full. Overpriced garbage sack

Because some people need a huge capacity, and can't wear two packs!

LMAO. How could anyone think that a single pack could be worth $800?? Packs are typically overpriced to begin with but this is NUTS!!

My one and only

Well I finally got it!!! I have had several backpacks about 10 and most of them Kelty Brand. When I first saw this pack I knew I had to have it. I put it on lay away and 2 months later I was out on the trail with it. All I can say is I love it!! I wanted something that would stand up to anything the wilderness could throw at me (and my pack) it has water proof zippers, the fabric will withsatnd the roughest treatment, and best of all it has removable outside pockets for when I need a pack for smaller loads. I have gotten rid of all my other packs. I don't even miss the fact that it doesn't have pockets for a water bottle, in fact the reenforced gear loops on the side are better to clip a bottle onto and I can reach it better. All I can say is I am very happy with this pack and am proud to own it.

I climbed denali in 1995 with the phantom...it was and still is the best all around pack I've ever had...I've been using it for fifteen years and it ain't white anymore...I've been looking for another similar sized pack recently and there isn't one that's any more comfortable or lighter for the size. It wasn't cheap but for about thirty bucks a year, I think I've gotten my money out it.
