Liking my boots

By:
January 7, 2010

I posted a question about the sizing, and I wanted these boots so bad I broke down and asked for help online w/the Chat Now. I can't remember who helped me, sorry, Gunther or Gerard maybe? Was a G name. Anyway, I have these in the 7's even tho I'm a 6 in my tennies. They fit great! You can go 1 full size up, I'd say, and not worry.

We were on our way out to a movie and supper when they came, and I was so excited we took them along and stopped at Scheel's after the movie to buy some socks quick so I could wear them!

I wore them sitting in a restaurant the other day and noticed my toes felt a little cold, but I'm kinda a baby about cold feet, and I didn't have actual good winter socks on either, so I'm sure that had something to do w/it.

We got snow dumped on us again yesterday (about 3ft so far!) so I tried them out today while scooping and they were awesome! Great traction, no cold feet even w/regular socks on, my feet didn't slide around.

I have a pair of Sorels too, that I've had since 7th grade-and I'm 35 now. They last forever, but are clunky. These Keen's are not, by any stretch of the imagination. They look like funky sneakers in a way.

Just SO happy I went with these! I have the Dark Earth/Simply Taupe color. Can just BARELY see them in the picture, but that's the only picture I have of them from today.

Great boots!

Wisconsin Winters...

By:
August 6, 2011

I have a pair similar to these, and wanted my wife to enjoy them as much as me. Keen are favorites of ours because their fit accomodates those of us with wide feet. I've trudged through 2 Wisconsin winters with a similar model and it feels like I'm slipping on sneakers My wife has 1 winter of bliss in these boots and will never put another boot on..

I normally wear a 6 shoe, and the color I want is only available

I normally wear a 6 shoe, and the color I want is only available in 7. If they run a 1/2 size smaller, would I be ok do you think, assuming I'd be wearing thicker winter socks with them?

I just tried these on in a store today, and I would say yes. I normally wear an 8.5. I tried that on and it was too tight. They did not have the nine for me to try, but the 8.5 was quite tight, so I'm ordering an entire size up (9.5). They seem to be quite comfortable and very convenient otherwise.

Versatile boot

By:
March 12, 2011

If you are looking for a light (weight) boot that is comfortable, warm and is easy to get on and off this is the boot for you. Love these boots! Use them for walking the dog everyday for 6 months in the winter on trails in the bush. I only have one negative comment the material does not stand up. Bought my boots around xmas 2009 and by December this year they were toast. I hope Keen will come out with identical boots just change the material to something a little sturdier. Love the toggles in the front to tighten the boots.

The Mens Winterport II worked out better for me

By:
November 30, 2010

These seemed to be designed more for looks than function. The mens version has the loops in front and back to help pull them on, they are warm, light and seem sturdy without being constricting. I can move comfortably in them, If you do not need the loops and like the frilly fur these are the boots for you. I returned mine and got the mens Winterport II black/gargoyle. No they are not as pretty but they are warm, dry comfortable and for me allot easier to get on.

I love my Keen Summit County boots but Keen stopped making them.

I love my Keen Summit County boots but Keen stopped making them. I'm looking for another Keen boot (need the wide fit) for winter peakbagging in the White Mtns (NH). Does anyone know if the Winterport II is appropriate for a 12mi snowshoe w/ ~3-4k of elevation gain? Is there another model of boot that has replaced the Summit County?

disappointed

By:
February 12, 2010

I was quite disappointed with the quality of construction. One of the boots is a bit wider and the molding around the foot bed is all bunched up. I was desperate for a pair of winter boots so i ended up keeping them but had i purchased them locally i definitely would have asked to see another pair in the same size so i could compare for defects. I would have thought the Keen brand would have higher quality standards.

They're nice boots

By:
January 12, 2010

I bought these because my old snow boots began to leak..ugh! I broke them in on a trip to Montana and had mixed feelings. I didn't find that the traction on the boots was very good, I was slipping and sliding everywhere (which proved to be embarrassing!). My feet were kept very warm though. Maybe even too warm, but that could have been adjusted by the thickness of socks. But you have to be careful and not wear ankle socks with these boots or your ankles might get blisters...mind did. So all-in-all I would say these are nice boots if you aren't looking to do anything too intense. They look very good, they are easy to slip on and off and are pretty much comfortable. I have received a lot of complements on the look of these boots also (I bought the "dark earth" color). Hope this helps!!!
