We call them thongs down under. I am onto my third pair of these now and I'm thrilled to be able to order from Australia. They are super comfortable and I love the protection they afford my big toes.

the look and durability was the appeal for my purchase. Ive only seen 2 other people with this type and thought, clever design and avoid any flip flop blow out in all situations. the price was a bit steep for a flip flop then figured it would be a decent investment that would survive the price. I have owned my flip flops for about 60 days, and they've already started to split. I wear them in and around the house, check the mail, might even have worn them to the grocery store- ive done nothing extreme, not even sure if they have gotten wet... I do, I really do like them- but cant afford to buy a new pair every 2 months - maybe i should just go back to buying the $3.99 flops, and chance the explosion...
gotta be the shoes

These sandals last a long time and can go through mud, rocks, dirt, bush and rivers. They are plenty wide and fit well. They are not as comfortable as the sandals with memory foam and what not, but for hiking, fishing and kicking rocks they are perfect.
GREAT flip flops!

I have had a pair of these for over 5 years and wear them 10 months out of the year. They are the most comfortable flip flops that I have owned, even to the point where I have walked in them for five miles at a time on several different occasions!
Great Purchase

I'm not a flip flop wearer but these are great. They are extremely comfortable and the arch support makes them even more comfortable. Already hoping Keen comes out with some more solid colors. Will definitely by another pair.
love 'em

I seached for and reseached these flip-flops for a long time. I like flip-flops in the summer but I can't stand flat footed cheap ones. These are molded to fit your foot and are suited for all terrains and fit well. Some people claim that it takes some getting used to the covered big toe thing and that the toe post is thicker than most flip flops. I didn't have any of these issues. I have other Keen sandals that run a 1/2 size small so I ordered a half-size bigger on these. I think these are more true to size as I probably would have been okay with my actual size. The only negative thing I can say about them is I wish they came in more colors and/or leather. But they don't make them like that any more.

These things are the best "flip-flop" I have ever had! You can actually use them for more than taking the dog for a walk. I use mine camping all the time and find I can go on walks backcountry or around town. They actually have support and you don't scoop rocks under your foot because of the toe protection. LOVE'EM...

awesome for the crag

I like to pack these into my pack when I go to a rocky crag so that I don't bang my toes on rocks. This is perfect for that. Plus the sole is thick enough to be comfy to hike a bit.
It does make my feet sweat easily though. But that's usually the case with all rubber base sole (like sanuk's... gotta wear socks with these).
Best ever!

I have had an oversized pair of Waimea H2 sandals that I got for real cheap on a close out sale. I was looking for a pair of flip flops, the price was right, and even though they were their last pair and quite a bit to big on me they were comfortable, so I thought Id give them a shot. That was about 4 years ago and I just love them - they are the first thing I slip into when I come home from work. I wear them every chance I get. So ... I have another pair of the Waimea H2 sandals (the proper size I hope), along with a pair of Venice H2 sandals, and a pair of Butte Hiking shoes on their way. I only hope the other two can live up to the Waimea, because thats a tall ladder to climb!
wish they were wider

they fit great if they were a little wider super good fit, but just a little too narrow for wide feet

My wife bought a pair of these sandals for me to do summer yard work in and i have been very satisfied. the sole is thick enough that i can do light digging in them or clean up brush without fear of a thorn running through the underside of my shoe. I'm sure the toe guard has saved a few bruises. Just ordered my second pair.
OK

Wish they had them in more colors. Comfortable, but my second toe doesn't seem to be getting along with them as of yet. A different fit, but could be nice. I haven't used them on long treks yet, but will be trying them out in Africa in a couple of weeks.

I have 6 pair of Keen Sandals....all of them flip-flops and they are absolutely the most comfortable sandal. I love the big toe protection...and I always get compliments and comments about them...always positive and wanting to know where they can get them. I also have 3 pair of the slip on sandals that I wear to work in warm weather....they are great with khakis and jeans .

I am going to be going to Europe, and want a good long distance walking flip-flop. How does this fair with hilly hiking, and 5+ mile city walking?

It really depends upon whether you have experience in walking long distances in flip-flops. If you have experience in doing so, then I would say that this is a good choice (it's a little more stable on the foot than normal flip-flops, has decent traction, and the toe protection is nice).
Having said this, I will say that for long distance walking or hiking, I prefer a sandal with a heel strap (there's less chance of losing a shoe, and it seems easier on the foot). The Keen Venice and Keen Newport can work well for this, as can the Chaco Z/1 or Chaco Z/2 (personally, I prefer the Venice, but have hiked in all of them). If you are sure that you don't want a backstrap, consider the Chaco Hipthong (or the Chaco Zong, if it is still available).
My new favorite flip-flops

At first, it felt strange to wear flip-flops that covered my big toe, but I have come to really like this design. In addition to providing toe protection, the design of these sandals also provides increased lateral stability. The fit is true-to-size. Another great product by KEEN!
