New trails are waiting to be discovered. Go and find 'em in the Keen Targhee II Hiking Shoes.

Try out a killer new day hike in the Keen Men's Targhee II Hiking Shoes. The eVENT waterproof barrier keeps your feet dry as you stomp through puddles and comfortable on the rocky sections of the trail. The waterproof leather upper blocks out moisture so your feet stay dry and the AEGIS Microbe Shield Treated Mesh Lining wicks sweat, which keeps you blister-free. The ESS shank provides your foot with great stability on those super steep sections, and the Secure-Fit Lace Capture System gives you easy control over the tightness of your laces.

Great shoe, great color

  • Gender:Male
  • Fit:True to size
  • Height: 5'10"
    Weight: 210 lbs
    Size Purchased: 9.5

I ordered the Targhee II for my husband, the magnet / brindle color is a really nice look. This is at least his third pair of Keen Targhee II low. He uses them for every day work as he is in and out of a truck at construction sites and says they have good support. They have held up well for him. He's tried a few other brands and definitely says the Keen is the best. He has also owned a couple of the Keen sandal / water shoe type. Originally ordered a 9 in this style as he is "in-between" a 9 and a 9.5, but ended up sending them back for the 9.5. The return process was painless and quick turnaround.

He loves them

  • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

So comfortable!

Does the Targee have enough support for longer Hikes say 15 to 20 miles ? are they dust proof ? anyone know what they weigh ?

I would happily wear these for a 20 mile hike, and in fact I usually wear my trail runners (which have a bit less support then these) for hikes of that length. Support really comes down to personal preference and how "in shape" your feet are. They should keep dust out of the shoe because of the eVent liner (if it's waterproof, usually it's dust proof too), but dust could still get in around the top opening obviously. According to Keen's website they tip the scales at about 16.5 oz. so just over a pound each.

I need extremely stable shoes because of arthritis in my feet and pronation. The first thing I do with any shoes is try to bend them - up and down and sidewise. If they bend- I don't buy them- orders from the podiatrist. My question is- do these "bend"? I had a pair of Keens a year ago that I wore as I hiked through Arizona. Wonderful shoes, but have no idea what kind they were. I do remember that they had some pretty big nubs on the soles.

Great Shoes But...

  • Gender:Male
  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I had a pair of these a few years ago. Right after I bought them the stitching on the toe separated. I took them back to the store and got a new pair... The exact same thing happened again. I decided just to live with it since they were really comfortable and waterproof. I eventually put some shoe goo under where the seam had separated. After about a year or so the sole had begun to wear thin and separate, but I finally killed them when I wore them while welding and sparks burned holes in the non-leather parts (pretty stupid of me). They were no longer waterproof after that. I miss these shoes but I probably won't buy them again due to all the problems I had with them.

Best Shoes Ever!

This is my third pair of these shoes. I hiked over 110 miles this Summer from one side of the Uinta Mountains to the other after these shoes were over two years old. Best shoes I have ever purchased.

Good for, well, EVERYTHING!

My wife wears these cause she works in a zoo. No, that's not a euphemism, she works in an actual zoo! If they can stand up to gopher pits and rocky enclosures, they're good for just about anything you can throw at 'em!

Do you carry the above ankle version of the Keen boot?

We do have the mid version of the Targhee II and can be found here

3rd or 4th pair

Great shoes, order 1/2 size bigger for your foot!
    Light hikers, excellent stability!!!!!!!!!
Be careful, Keen seems to need better inspectors for defects in their products, although I wear them almost exclusively, I have had to return for silly defects across different types of their shoes. However, that said. I love the shoes they make!

    fav shoes

this is my 3rd pair. size 1/2 size large. Three pairs in 2 years I think or thereabouts of everyday wear.
real nice on trails for light hiking shoes. I own 5 different pair of Keen Shoes. My only complaint is I have encountered a number of factory defects in their shoes, I have had to return more than one pair over the past three years for manufacture issues which makes me wonder how they passed their inspector. But It has always been worth the return to the store because the replacements have been great.
      These shoes have Excellent stability.
I have used these Targhee II shoes in the woods on the break walls when fishing, urban atmosphere.

The "Black Olive/Jester Red" is not the same as the picture! The picture shows a gray shoe while it is actually more of an olive color. Little disappointed that they didn't check this before posting it online...

No shit, maybe thats why its called "black olive" and not gray

        are they true to size?

        are they true to size?

Yes they are. I usually wear a 10.5, and that size fits me perfectly in Keen hikers.

i have had 3 pairs of these 1/2 size larger fit great. But not all keens are the same unfortunately! recently bought a diff pair of keens that were too big 1/2 sie larger...
        go figure!

        Good Shoe

I'm on my second pair and really like them. I have wide feet and they work well for me. My first pair had some glue issues on the sole, where the bottom tread unglued on the small strips that wrap up the side. Shoe goo fixed it. The fabric in the heel is also worn through, but I use them actively.

Yes the glue on the bottom black soles is very poor, the upper is in great she while the bottom sole is only being held on at the toe. Great fit, feel and uppers though! I am not sure I would buy again with so many reports of poor gluing

          Very Comfortable

I've had the Keen Targhee II hikers for a few weeks now and love them. i use them for kicking around and when my feet need some soothing comfort. They are warm but very comfortable. i putchased them in the woring size and was delighted to discover that Backcountry has great customer service.

            Poor workmenship/ great customer service

I really like the features of Keen Targhee, waterproofing, S3 sole, blisterfree perect feet (claim to be). But I am not convinced afrer trying three pairs of them. I wear size 9, and ordered one thinking of blister free fit and design. But after second trail hike of 4 miles, my small fingers on both feet developed huge blisters, and toes were sore to touch. I used them twice again with similar results. So contacted Backcountry and they were extremely helpful in getting the exchange to 1/2 size larger. Received the shoes and the sole is separating from the leather upper at various places, the mid sole of the shoes is glued wrongly. It seems Keen has poor quality control. I contacted Backcountry again, and the they were extremely helpful in resolving the issue by exchanging for another pair, but of different color and free shipping both ways. I am not sold on Keen and probably will not consider Keen in the future, but certainly sold on the Backcountry's customer service.
