Boots don\342\200\231t do much good if you have no place to hike, so KEEN made the Women\342\200\231s Oregon PCT Hiking Boots with all-natural materials to cut down on your carbon footprint. A combination of leather, nylon, and synthetic fabrics help the upper take the abuse of a burly hike while providing excellent breathability. KEEN even added non-marking soles to give you top-notch traction on the trails without scuffing your kitchen floor when you get home.
I work as a Postal Letter Carrier and walk on average about 15km/work day. I wanted a light, comfortable, waterproof, breathable and grippy boot for winter. I went thru a few different brands (and packs of Bandaids) before trying Keens. My first pair was the Keen Growlers and was quite happy with them, but when it came time to replace I found out they were no longer available so I bought the Oregon PCT. Love them!! They were more supportive, have no pressure points on the toes, no heal slippage and that means NO BLISTERS! The footbed could use a little better cushioning in the heel for fatigue and strike impact, but I simply replaced them with Superfeet insoles. So far Keen footwear has stood up the best for what I do, and the stitching is second to none. I have noticed more and more posties making the switch. These boots have been tried and tested thru the worst conditions and are still in pristine shape.
I did a Wilderness Travel Course over the past winter and needed to find a pair of boots that would fit my hard to comfort feet as well as hold up in the snow while backpacking. I had so many issues with other boots from cutting off circulation to rubbing the heel to squeezing my toes, nothing was fitting me properly...I exhausted at least 6 brands of boots...then I remembered how lovely Keens felt on my feet and hoped they had something for the winter. After some research and customer service, I found these. After breaking them in on long hikes and into snow travel and finally snow camping, I was impressed by how well they held up as well as how nicely they kept the cold out. Perfection! Typcially I wear 9 in Keens, I wore 9 in these also.
The KEEN Oregon PCT boot is designed for backpacking, it has the classic KEEN wide toe and is the the stiffest and highest boot that Keen makes for great ankle support. It is also waterproof, it does run small, so if you have other KEEN footwear like the Targhee II mid it runs the same.

These boots fit great and are very comfortable. I wasn't too sure about the high collar, but now that I've gotten used to them I like them. They are warm in the snow - and that's important - they keep my feet dry without being too hot.
I ordered these boots because I had heard Keen boots have a wider than average toe box. I was very happy with the purchase. I wore them a little around town for a couple days before heading out into the field, not really enough to break them in, but they did fine. Very comfortable, didn't squeeze my toes at all. Even after hiking for 8 hours my feet still felt great. There was some very minor rubbing on my heels, but only when climbing very steep slopes. Maybe lacing differently would have prevented it. Also, hiked through light snow and tons of wet leaves and my feet stayed warm and dry.
I have weird-shaped feet- small, flat, narrow heels, and wide toes- so I was having trouble finding a good hiking boot with all the support I wanted, and also the right fit. I tried on the Keen Targhee II (size 6), and it fit really well, but didn't have the ankle support I wanted. After doing some research online, I decided to buy the PCT Oregon in size 6. I've yet to go on a hike with them, but when I tried them on, they did feel a little bit bigger than the same size in the Targhee II... and I was wearing slightly thicker socks.
I ordered this boot a 1/2 size larger than my regular shoe size, which was recommended by the sizing chart. Unfortunately it was closer to "true to size", and felt too big. The toe box definitly had more room in it than most Keens I've tried, which also made the boot a little too big for me. This might be the boot you're looking for.
I originally bought these to do the Muir Trail. Wisely, I took them on a 14 mile day trip before and decided to stick w/my La Sportiva Trango Treks. Yesterday, I took the Keens out again for a shorter day. The foot part of the boot is fine; but don't buy them 1/2 size bigger like Keen suggests. Since Keen doesn't do widths, their sizes seem to adjust both length and width, with the width increasing more than it does for other manufacturers. Thus, the larger sizes are not only longer but also noticeably wider. If you have a low volume foot, don't size up. The issue with these boots seems to be the ankle, at least for me. And, it may be a QC issue for Keen. I started w/a pair of size 7s and the ankle on the left foot (outside) dug into me very painfully. Interestingly, the right boot didn't have that problem. Sizing down to a 6.5, the entire boot seemed to fit better and the ankle issue diminished, but returned after a mile or two on the trail. Reading a review on Trailspace, the reviewer mentioned the same issue where one boot created a deep bruise on one of his ankles that took forever to heal. I think Keen should use memory foam or some similar material to line the ankles. What's in there is very unforgiving. However, since my second wearing was better than my first, I haven't given up. Whatever the lining material is in the ankle may eventually break in. If nothing else, they'll make a good winter "go to the store" boot since they're very warm and the waterproof liner really does keep my feet dry.
Even in snow, these boots keep your feet dry - and paired with some Smartwool socks, warm too! They provide excellent ankle support and have a roomy toe box (for those of us with wider feet or irritable bones). I would definitely recommend giving these a try!
My feet are wider than average. I felt pain in the little toe with every boots I ever used. But this boots don't make me pain for 4 days mountaineering. It was all right in the light rain and puddle. And these are not heavy. I want to buy this boots next time too. Sorry for my poor English...
these boots are great. i just spent a year leading trail crews in the southwest and my boots lasted the whole year...not the story with the boots of other folks. while others were replacing their boots after three or four months of use, mine just kept on kicking. not only were they comfortable hiking long distances, but they also stood up to the serious abuse boots receive from building trail. i took the boots out of the box on day one and wore them almost everyday working and hiking all year...the comfort lasted the whole way. i'm very impressed.
Held up against the intense rain and mud of the NZ Ureweras for day one and boasted about my dry feet but alas I ate humble pie after day 2 when my feet were wet. (it was a storm so Ill forgive Keen) Didn't take much wearing in and by day three, we lost the packs and jogged to a waterfall, no probs in these. There seems to be loose material in the heel which has caused some rubbing heel pain. Only in one side and if I didnt live on the other side of the world I would return these to be fixed. Love the tough sole on these puppies and would recommend them. What everybody else has said is true... very true to size.
Had to return these for 2 reasons. For once, these Keen's were actually true to size, so the 1/2 size larger that I ordered was too big. This might also be why the box toe had more room in it than normal. The major thumbs down on these boots would be for the unbearable seam placement, that, for an unknown reason, sit and rub in the middle of my ankle bone. The pressure of this seam was noticeable even while standing still. My guess is a hike in the backcountry would only lead to a very unpleasant blister and/or raw skin.
Well, these are my girlfriends boots. I bought some "waterproof" boots from Khols for $75, and she got the Keens for her birthday. We went hiking up a mountain 9 miles round trip. It was pouring rain the entire time. Finally got to snow around 3000 feet. Sloshed around a bit in the snow and headed down. My feet were soaked. Hers were dry. Always trust Keen. My Keen sandals are nearly as good as new after 5 years of drunken river floats, drunken camp fire walking and everything in between.
These are great boots, be sure to order your true shoe size, but beware if you have high...'cause they may be a bit tight...but not to worry, they break in nicely. Excellent traction, I would definately recommend these!
