KEEN Men's Newport Trail Hiking Shoes include eVENT waterproof breathable inserts to protect your feet from muddy trails and rainy weather when you take these shoes into the backcountry. Siped multi-directional soles give you aggressive traction whether you need to go uphill, downhill, or traverse a long section of slick trail. KEEN used an EVA-molded footbed to add a layer of cushion between your feet and the trail's rough terrain, so you hike more comfortably from trailhead to trailhead.
Bottom Line: KEEN keeps your feet dry and comfortable when you wear the Newport Trail Hiking Shoes in the hills.
keens are all i ever wear. i have fat feet with high arches and they fit my feet great... and you can't wear ,em out. plus they also just look so damn cool, with the wide foot base, and toe bumpers... i've notice the new keens coming out are not as wide.... pity, but they are still going to be my shoe of choice!
The Newport Trail is the most impressive all-purpose shoe that I have ever worn. Keen has managed to combine the comfort of the Newport sandal with the ruggedness of a trail shoe to create footwear that effectively bridges the weather gap between a sandal and a winter boot. For the cold and snow, I rely on my excellent Growlers - warm, light and very comfortable!
i bought a pair of keen newport trails about 4 yrs ago, and this pair did not have the waterproof membrane (keen dry). these were low cut shoes. i would love to find another pair, but just not waterproof. the shoes are so much cooler (non-waterproof) is there anywhere that i can find a pair like my old, non-waterproof , newpots?
The shoe your looking for was called the KEEN Portales. It has not been made for 3 years. Sorry, but you may want to check out the KEEN Voyageur. It's more rugged than the Portales, but is breathable like the Portale and has a great fit too. Unfortunately models change in the shoe industry and the Portales is one of those shoes.

I have owned a this pair of shoes for over a year now and wear them to work everyday, which is to say I walk through the thickest off-trail woods northwest Florida can muster and the smilax hasn't been able to shred them yet. So after 40 hours a week in the woods that have no trails (I'm a CRM archaeologist, its what we do) for a straight year, these things are still holding strong. In my line of work a pair of snake boots only lasts about 6 months, so needless to say I'm impressed. Yes, they are ugly, but are by far the most functional shoe I have ever taken into the woods!
Okay, I have pathetic feet. I'm a 5'9" male with size 8-8.5 feet, high arches and more. This shoe, in a size 9.5, is the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. I bought both colors just for some variety. Now, I alternate between the two, each day. Thank you, Keen. If you come out with another color, I'll likely buy it! Life is pretty simple when your shoes rock your world! But, what the he_ _!
. this my 2nd pair. my work enviroment is pretty tough. i,m on a cement floor all day with water and other fluid,s around. and the keen newport is great. the support of my arch is great. they do tend to get alittle warm in the middle of the summer. but i just switch to my other keen's great shoe for the money . mark
I'm looking for a good backpacking shoe/boot. Could others answer the following about Newports: 1. Could you hike all day in these? 2. If so, how much does your pack weigh? 3. How do they handle hot sweaty summer hikes?
Great light hikers. These are a very comfortable boot, you could easily walk or stand in them all day. They ventilate well, and aren't too tight around the ankle, so summer wear would be accomidated well. The sole (and the fit) is wide, so they are a very stable shoe. The uppers might be a bit lightly constructed for heavy pack or very technical trail, but for light to modurate weighted packs these shoes are champs.

These are listed by Backcountry as made with superior eVent waterproofing material. I emailed and live chatted with BC to make sure (eVent is rare in shoes). Each BC associate said that 'Yes it is made with eVent', "no BS" they said, "guaranteed". Alas, what a bunch of bunk. The shoes arrive and they are made with Keen's KeenDry not eVent. I'm sure they are great shoes but they're not what I wante or what they advertised. So the low rating is for Backcountry's false advertising and deception and not a bad mark on Keen. I don't like to be so harsh but it is what it is & in this case Backcountry was knowingly deceptive even after I questioned their claim of eVent. They refunded my money but I still paid return shipping.
Super comfort and everything you expect of a Keen product, but after a couple of days the inside liner stitching was coming apart. Will repurchase at a later time when I have time to break in.
they might order some more since its not on sale its probably more likely that they will than they wont. Try using Chat Now maybe they can help you a little more.
These are perfect. I have been wearing Targee II for 2 years and they are finally wearing out. These feel even better. I love the looks, Ilove Keen shoes!!
But these are worth every penny. Long story short, my feet were killing me and now they feel lots better. Pretty sure it's the shoes. Thanks from my dogs!
If you love your Newport sandals you will love these. Great feel, wide stable. I bought them for hikers, but now wear them every day, very comfortable. the only thing I wish Keen would do is put a more aggressive tread on them.
I have 2 other pairs of Keen waterproof boots and they are all great. They have the comfort of running shoes, durability of a work boot, and are waterproof. The Newport Trail is one of the best boots out there.
This is another Great shoe made by Keen. I currently own 8 pairs of Keen's, just love them! Ended up buying a half size smaller then ususal, shoe is a bit wider. I wear a sz 8.5 Wms in all the others I own, and in these I had to get an 8. Nice and warm for my always cold feet. Waterproof, great traction, comfy and cozy, Great fit the first time on. Would recommend to a friend
A fantastic shoe. Looks great, feels great. Back Country shipped item super fast. I've had a pair of Targee II for 2 years and they still are in good condition. I'm sure these will last just as long.
