Get the comfort of sandals without the mangled toes when you wear the Keen Newport Sandals.

Mixing normal sandals and boats tends to result in broken, bleeding toes and furious boat owners. The Keen Newport Sandals were developed in the sailing mecca of Rhode Island to solve these problems while retaining the comfort of sandals. A toe guard protects your nubs from deck rigging or rocks on shore. The Newport's soles are made from a grippy, non-marking rubber that prevents you from slipping and falling overboard, or being thrown by black-mark-addled boat owners. The Newport's waterproof leather upper and anatomical last make it comfortable enough for extended wear on long blue water voyages, or just walking around town.

    Keen Newport Sandal

I buy a pair of these for my dad for his birthday every year and he LOVES them. He lives in Rhode Island by the beach and says they are the perfect sandal. He wears them kayaking, to the beach, and just taking the dog out for a walk and they are perfect for all those. I would probably guess they are even good for some light hiking.

      First timer

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: 10.5

These shoes were ready to wear right out of the box. I wore them around the house to break them in but truth be told they were super flexible and tough at the same time. As for size... I wear a 10.5 regular shoe so that's what I went with on this. Fits Perfect bare foot with room to spare if you decide to put socks on also. I have a feeling these will go the distance. I have a 4 day Grand Canyon Rafting trip coming up so they will get put to the test there.

      My favorite footwear!

90% of the time I have something on my foot, its these. I have been wearing these sandals nearly every day for 2 years now and they still feel great! I hike in them, fish in them, take them canyoneering, wear them around town, wear them to work or school. They easily have over 500 miles on them and the soles still have a decent amount of tread.
The only thing that is starting failing on me is the micro suede on the foot bed is peeling up and it sometimes balls up and is noticeable. I have remedied this by cutting or tearing it out wherever it happens and the surface below it is plenty comfortable.

If you are looking for a durable do everything sandal this is it.

      My favorite footwear!

      Heavy and goofy looking.

I wanted to like these. Too heavy. Too Bulky. Hard feeling. I feel like a dork with them on. I didn't wear them much but they still came apart like a cheap suit. Now every person in the world has them makes me like them a lot less.

        Best all around Sandal.

I've had mine for two years and the soles have shown very little signs of wear. These things are solid enough to hike in, work well in and around water, breath thoroughly, and have withstood the test of time and pressure. I wear them frequently and they are still rocking like new!

Super comfy sandal that one can use for nearly any activity.

        I concur-SOLD ON KEEN!

I was looking for a good pair of Sandals to hike with this summer and I have not been disappointed. These are perfect for hikes that have a lot of mixed terrain. Have not had a single issue with them and love the way they fit.. Sold on Keen!!!

        Love 'em!

After breaking them in for a couple weeks I love these sandals. Initially I felt they were comfortable, but also "loud" and clunky. However I now know that was due to the newness of the sole. After a few days things settled in and they're perfect. They haven't left my feet since I picked them up 2 weeks ago! Comfortable and they go with just about everything.

        Love 'em!

        Disappointed!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
        • Fit: True to size

I was so looking forward to my first pair of Keen Newport sandals. Very much disappointed in the way they feel when I walk, so heavy & feel like big cloud hoppers. The way their made is excellent, but the way they feel for myself is terrible. I wear sandals daily but I cannot wear these.

        Great sandal!

Best fitting, and looking sandal ever owned. I have wide feet, and the BC gearhead certainly steered me in the right direction with this selection. They are great for kicking around town, and get compliments on their looks as well. Very happy.

        Keen Newport

I am so glad to be back in a pair of Keens. I tried another brand of sandal after my last pair of Keens had been put out to pasture, but it wasn't the same. No fussing with tightening straps or buckles, just easy on and go. I love the softer footbed of the Newport vice the H2 and it dries nearly as fast. As always great toe protection. I look forward to many miles in my new pair of Newports.

          Perfect

I selected a full size larger than regular & they fit perfectly. I have a wide foot & my little piggies are very comfortable, no rubbing or squeezing. The overall support is similar to a running shoe with a slightly stiffer sole. I literally opened the box, put them on & have been wearing them since - no complaints at all

I wear them in & around salt water all day. I drive in them - even had the odd skate in them!

Write your question here...do these Newpot SANDALS COME IN A WIDE WIDTH

            Hey Sandy,

The Newport in Women is a C width and in Men it's a D+ width. The newport runs small, so go up a half size.

The KEEN footwear only comes in one width.

The Venice has more volume over the forefoot than the Newport, so it will fit a wider foot.

            Thanks, Jerry

            From the Keen website:

            Sandals
            Sandal Washing Instructions
All KEEN water sandals (both leather and polyester webbing upper) are machine washable and have been treated with AEGIS Microbe Sheild, antimicrobial technology that helps prevent odor, staining and deterioration. We've also taken great care to develop leather uppers that will not crack, shrink or stretch when washed. Even KEEN leather Newport sandals are machine washable. Use a small amount of detergent, wash on gentle cycle and air dry.

            Leather
            Caring for Leather
We've carefully selected leather uppers designed to last. Then again, if you're wearing your KEENS daily, they won't always be scuff and dirt-free. We recommend using a nubuck leather cleaner and conditioner (Nikwax is a brand we like) found at most better footwear dealers and outdoor gear shops.

Write your question here...The Newport is advertised as a boating sandal with sipes in the trend that do extend out farther than the Laguna. The sides are very tight and after looking at a 3 yr old pair the sipes were still very tight and closed. The Laguna has a narrower tread with sipes in it however they are much more open and appear to look like they would be better on a wet boat deck. The Newports have to be completely bent to see any sipes and that is not what will happen walking on the deck of a sailboat. Which is the better sandal for boating?

Write your question here...whats the difference between the Laguna and the Newport? Is the Laguna the updated version? Which do you recommend?

            Best Answer

Great question! I believe that you are correct that the Laguna is the newer-generation Newport, but except for slight styling differences they seem very similar. However, I believe that the Laguna is designed a little more for hiking, while the Newport offers an H2 version that has a polyester (rather than leather) upper that will dry quicker if you are going to be in and out of the water. For dry land use (or just occasional dunkings) I'd probably go with the Laguna, whereas if I were going to be spending a lot of time in the water I'd go with the Newport H2 or Venice H2.

I've read that you should order a half size larger than normal - then I saw a review where the individual said they ran small.
I'm not near anywhere convenient to try on - would prefer ordering online.
            Anyway - I wear a size 9 - should I order a 9 or 9.5 - obviously do not wear socks with sandals -
            Thanks
