Description

Mommy was a sandal, Daddy was a hiker.

Here's a hypothetical: you're out and about, perhaps hiking a favorite trail or cruising the beach. You desperately want to wade but you don't have the proper footwear for both hiking and getting in the water. Your sandals leave your foot vulnerable to rocks, sticks, and the rolling of ankles, all the while your hiking shoes tend to get water-logged the second you think about water. Part sandal, part shoe, the KEEN Women's McKenzie Shoe sees fit to conquer both worlds, all in the name of fun.
  • Secure fit drawcord lacing cinches up quickly and tucks out of the way easily
  • Metatomical compression-molded EVA footbed fits comfortably and feels supportive
  • Polyester webbing on the upper blocks rocks from entering the shoe
  • Aegis microbe shield treatment prevents bacteria from ruining your day...and your partner's day
  • Machine washable—just add a dab of detergent and air dry for instant and efficient exorcism of foot funk

I love Keen shoes. I own four pairs, each different styles. I like how versatile they are. I can travel with them and they provide excellent support and are very durable. I just bought the McKenzie style and got them from UPS today. I tried them on and they fit like a glove. I wear a 9.5, all of my keens are the same size. I have never had a problem with them feeling different between the four pairs I have. They all fit the same. They are definitely my favorite brand of shoe!

Extremely lightweight and very comfortable as with all Keen however it is not like the Keen San Sebastian model I was hoping for; it is a little "flatter", but once again extremely comfortable. You can take them out of the box and wear them all day, no break in needed.

I have ordered this particular shoe twice. I normally wear a 10 in this brand shoe so got a 10 the first time -- really big, so went down to a 9.5 thinking surely that will be enough - still freaking huge. Such a dissapointment. I want the style of a sandle but with the mesh that will keep the debri out. And the laces are not the stretchy ones that keen usually has. The shoe does not have the flexibility or the give of the Newport or H2 keens, so thanks to Backcountry's great return policy, these have gone back. The search for the perfect shoe continues.

Excellent shoe fot in or out of the water. It has a very comfortable wide toe box, which is sooo hard to find. I LOVE KEENS! The only con I can find so far is that the insole comes out when you take your foot out, but that's not enough to not wear the shoe. That's feedback that should be sent to Keen for their future shoe developments. I have not tried the Turia or Owyhee but if they have the same toe box as the McKenzie then they would be a step up in my opinion. Keen sizing is inconsistent but their shoes are worth the effort to find the3 correct fit. Love the bungee.

How do these compare to the Keen Turia shoe and sandal? I'm looking for a shoe I can wear walking all day at the zoo and also at an amusement park that has water rides. I have the Newport H2's but they have to go back--I have crazy weird short toes so my pinky toes come out the ventilated sides.

Hello Missi,

The Turia's has more arch support than the McKenzie, so does the Owyhee, which has the closest support of the Newport.

Thanks! I definitely want more support. I've not seen the Turia's on here, am I missing them or does Backcountry not have them?

This would be a much higher rating if not for the fact that they are pretty large. I have several other pairs of Keens and wonder why the sizing can't be more consistent. Otherwise I'm happy as can be. They are very comfortable and cool, even though I have to wear them with socks. I should probably have returned them for a smaller size but have had bad experience doing this in the past. The smaller size has then been too small. So I'll stick with my duck feet.
