Terrific shoe within its limits

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I wrote a review to accompany my photo but I must have screwed that up since it didn't get posted - sorry. Posting the photo without the review may have created a negative impression - quite the contrary: the Marshall is not a hard-core hiking boot, but for lighter hiking, urban use, long distance walking, this has been an exceptional shoe notwithstanding the cosmetic flaw I encountered as shown in the picture. I chose not to return the shoes despite the problem which surfaced in the first month I owned them, because the shoes have been otherwise terrific for all the reasons I bought them. I specifically needed an all-purpose shoe for a trip to Spain, mixed use between rural and urban surfaces, light-to-medium hiking on uneven dirt and rocky terrain, but comfortable for long walking on concrete and overall, good looking-enough to wear out in Madrid for dinner. These shoes performed under all those conditions very well. The soles are not stiff like a hard-core hiking boot and you can feel the surface your traversing, but they've got enough tread for dirt roads and fields, the waterproofing was extremely helpful on a trip like that where I was caught in wet conditions and once, a hard rain. They retained their looks (aside from the cosmetic flaw). I've worn them so much the soles are showing the wear a year later - I figure I can get another very full year out of them though, before I need a new pair. The spacious Keen toe-box fit accommodates the swelling that accompanies ten mile walks and I had no blisters at all. Overall, I'm very satisfied and would definitely buy another pair notwithstanding the cosmetic flaw which was just a minor irritation on an otherwise exceptional shoe.

Work/Hike

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs small

My job has me on my feet all day; both moving and standing for extended time periods. It took me awhile to find a shoe that didn't leave my feet sore at the end of the day (or during). These shoes have also been great for hiking. Mostly in the NW, but also have gotten a lot of trail use in travel: Utah, Arizona, Hawaii. Water, dirt, or sand, these shoes have out preformed every shoe I've ever had.

I love these shoes so much that I will buy new ones when the old wear out; just ordered my 3rd pair.

Perfect

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size
  • Height: 6' 0"
    Weight: 230 lbs

This is my third pair of Keens, and only one pair has actually worn out. These ran true to size for me and there is just enough room for thicker socks if necessary. I have already put these through the paces, including waterproof capabilities, and they are holding up wonderfully. Definitely a great buy.

Love these!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I've had these shoes for about 4 months now and they have been all over Utah, from Bear Lake to Guardsmans Pass to Moab, they have handled everything I have thrown at them.

I'm most impressed with the durability of the Marshall, as I've "put these through the wringer" and honestly haven't even noticed a scuff on the shoe yet. I also like how quick they dry, as I have used them on some impromptu swims here in the Wasatch!

Horrible Defective Product

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Horrible Product, they filled up with sand between the WPB and the outer shell, with no way to get the sand out!!! Contacted Keen about warranty and was told "these are not for beach walking and since it is not a visible defect we will not warrant them. It was your personal choice to wear them on the beach." So, wont they just fill up with dirt after a few long hikes?? Does the media that it fills up with really matter?? They are defective and unacceptable!

This is totally unacceptable and i will no longer be buying Keen products.

IBackcountry on the other hand has taken care of me when ive had problems with products, so i will continue to support them in their other inventory items.....merrell, la sportiva, salamon, etc.

Nice shoes.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

They are nice hiking shoes. I think they are a little small but I am still breaking them in. If you are going to use heavy socks go up a half size since they are an accurate fit. Very durable and so fare are waterproof as advertised. I walk in the fields early in the morning and the grass is soaking wet with lots of mud to give them a lived in look.
