Here's what others have to say...

Brother-in-law wears them all the time

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift

I never see him without them on, so I would say they're pretty comfortable.

Nice boot

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

Great boot with nice support. The toe felt a little snug. Maybe that's just the way hiking boots fit (these are my first pair).

Good, but not great

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have hiked over 300 miles in these boots with weights ranging from nothing to 40 pounds. Big ups on comfort and on price. Unfortunately, after that much wear, the rubber arch support and most of the sole has begun to peel away causing some water problems. This is a great boot for short to mid distance hikes and medium weight.

solid boots

Got these as a gift- very well received! They are a really well made boot with great ankle support.

Great Ankle Support

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Overall great boot, solid ankle support, it has a nice, strong sole, and plenty of room for your foot to spread out when on those extra long backpacking trips, and it just has a great rhythm while walking. However, one thing I've noticed is that it isn't very breathable due to the Keen.Dry membrane. So you are definetly going to have to air these out from time to time. Other than that it's an awesome boot.

What is the difference between the gypsum...

They are a very similar boot (i.e. waterproof, breathable, light) but the Gypsum purports to be a more torsionally rigid boot providing a little more stability for those who need it. I will often recommend these as a light waterproof mid-hiker for people with arch issues or back problems.

sweaty feet!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

This boot was very comfy fit like a glove. I usually wear 9.5E and these boots were a perfect fit. However after a short walk to the car at 70 degrees outside and back, I sat down to admire them. By that time my feet were suffocating. Did not breathe very well. I sent them back to backcountry. I give them 3 stars for fit and comfort. Also they didn't seem very durable. My $30 Reebok running shoes seamed much tougher.

is this a good footwear for winter?

This boot is designed to be breathable and doesn't have insulation. It would be a little cold if used in the winter. I'd recommend checking out the Keen Revel instead:

It's an excellent winter hiking boot I've used for 2 seasons now with no complaints.

For high volume feet

I had tried on the Targhee IIs and they fit like a dream, but have poor reliability reviews, so I ordered the Gypsums, which had much better reviews. The Gypsums were cavernous compared the the Targhees; didn't fit me at all. So they may be great boots but not for me.

Good boot

Very comfortable right out of the box. I wore these for 4 days while backpacking (roughly 20-25 miles). The boots were very comfortable until the last mile hiking down the mountain. My heel started to rub a little. No blisters but it was only the last mile. I do like the boots and plan to wear them on my next trip. I don't think you'll be disappointed. They stayed waterproof in a good 5 hour down pour. Traction was great even on wet rock. The extra padded foot bed was nice with a 50 lb pack on.

How wide do these run?

Keen's have a wide toe box. Probably 2E-ish. Customers with 'wide' feet nearly always fit well into a Keen compared to a Merrell or similar brand.

I agree with Connor. I have wider feet and Keens do well for me.

Buy these for your feet!!!

These boots are AWESOME!! I wore them on a day hike at Palo Duro a few weeks ago. I had very little break-in and my feet never got hot.

Great boots!

When I came to adventure equipment store to find a pair of boots, I didn't have any specific brand. I just want a pair of waterproof boots but fairly breathable when using it in tropical weather (I live in tropical country). I choose some boots depend on its look. When i tried Keen Gypsum for the first time, my foot like said "Wow, it is wrapping me comfortably." Its wide toes fit with my wide feet.
When I use it daily in tropical weather, it doesn't feel hot. And when I tried to step on the puddle and walking in the rain, it kept my foot dry. Its mid makes me easy to take off my shoes from my feet. I just need loosen the top laces, then pull out my foot easily.

Top o' the line

OHHHH Man. Got these in this week while looking for something durable and comfy to wear as a full season boot. These must be the top of the line from keen. Construction looks rock solid, including metal eyelets on top. Leather is nice and thick, and seems like it will really be in it for the long run. A bit stiff at first, but that's good. They broke in within 4-5 days of sold walking, and now I feel like I'm wearing slippers. Ankle support is excellent. I really love these, fit perfectly right out of the box. I'm just worried they might be to insulated come summertime.

Great Boots

I would recommend these boots for cool to warm climates, and rugged terrain. I haven't tested the waterproofing yet, but I'm sure I will have the chance as I received them just in time for the rainy season.
They have a very comfortable fit, nice and snug near the heal and a good amount of space in the toe. The midsole prevents you from feeling rocks pushing up into the sole of your foot. They are lightweight and very comfortable. I will be using these boots on a daily basis for work in rugged terrain.

GET THESE BOOTS

Get these boots and order them from backcountry. It's a Win Win situation. You are getting a perfect product from a most efficient company.
I live in Japan and cannot find KEENS in my size. I recently took a trip to LA and pre-ordered these boots. They were waiting for me in my hotel room when I arrived 6 days later and they fit like a shoe should fit!! They are not nearly as silver-looking as they photograph. They are a charcoal gray - they are PERFECTION!! GET THESE BOOTS!!!
