A waterproof mid-weight with plenty of cush.

At just one pound each, the Keen Durand Mid WP Women's Hiking Boot isn't heavy, but that doesn't mean it skimps on cushioning or comfort. The upper, is built from soft waterproof nubuck and mesh, and features waterproof and breathable Keen.Dry membrane to take the worry out of stormy days and wet trails. The sole is made of a grippy dual-compound rubber to make short work of slick conditions. The Durand's lightness belies its level of cushioning, but it's surprisingly serious--a removable dual-density footbed, PU midsole and heel cushion, and a TPU stability shank provide plenty of support and comfort, helping you handle day hikes or weekend backpacking trips with ease.

    Great Ankle Support

My girlfriend has these and she says: These Keen Durand Mid WP Hiking Boots have been put to the test! I purchased them for the hike to Havasupai and am continually impressed by their durability. My ankles have always been weak so I knew I needed a solid underfoot and ankle support for multi day backpacking trip. I consider these boots to be heavy for my size but I was willing to sacrifice the weight for the stability and control. The waterproof membrane has kept my feet try walking through puddles and the sole still has grip for slick rock conditions.

      Made for the wild.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs small
      • Size Bought: 6.5

Great boot, wear good socks and order a half size or a full size larger. Waterproof in you don't fully submerge your foot and they are super grippy on rocks, even slick rocks. Try out a 3 minimum mile walk on varying terrain and then adjust your laces as needed.

Hiked up the canyon on Lake Billy Chinook. Toebox is a little short, I went up half a size from the recommendations and they fix perfect. Normally a size 6. Great quality product, super grippy soles, and they keep your feet dry in a decent amount of water. Careful using the top lace eyelet, I used it the first time on a 9 mile hike and I got blisters. Other than that, made in 'Merica!

      Recommend for light backpacking

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

I've worn these for about 4 years and been happy with them. Wide toe box and the rubber over the toe is one piece and no separation from boot. I tend to be a toe dragger. I did replace insoles with SuperFeet. The only trouble has been the seams started to rip out on each side of the boot after just one year, didn't affect the waterproofing. The tongue and ankle padding is now wearing out. Overall the boot has been great on day hikes and a few backpacking trips.

      Awesome hiking shoe

These shoes are awesome, they will take about 4-7 uses to break in! They use PU midsole so they will last a very long time, for the casual hiker these will last a lifetime if you take care of them! The materials the use are top of the line and the fact that's it's American built is also pretty cool!

Very comfy for wide feet and orthotics

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: 7

This is my second pair of Keen hiking boots in size 7. I have wide feet at the toes and high arches. I add my custom orthotics for more arch support and off I go! The waterproofing in my last pair lasted about 4 years.

        right foot is not comfortable

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

but the left foot feel perfect , wish right foot as left one , so I can keep them .I have to return it ,anyway right foot feels not comfortable and difficult to walk . i don't know why , maybe it is my feet problem .

        My first hiking boots

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: 7

I got these in advance for my first backpacking trip in the Grand Gulch Primitive Area in Utah. They were comfortable right out of the box, the sizing was true to size. I already had a pair of Keen shoes in 6.5 (I'm usually a 7 in everything and occasionally 6.5). While those 6.5 shoes fit, they felt a little tight with wool socks, so I based my sizing off that and got the Durand Mid WP boots in a 7. THEY FIT PERRRRRRFEEEEEECCCTTTT!!!!!!!!!!

I wore them dog-walking for a couple weeks to break them in. We walked over slush, mud, jumped in puddles (you're never too old to do that), and they stayed dry and warm. Sweet.

I went to Utah for my 28 mile backpacking trip and I was the only one in my group who didn't have to tape off my entire feet. I only had a couple hot spots on the outside of my big toes, that was it. I wrapped my big toes with athletic tape and I was just fine the rest of the trip. These boots are so crazy comfortable. I also loved how grippy they were- we had to walk in and out of washes quite a bit and I was the one who slipped the least on the sandy hills. These boots also gripped really well on the slickrock. They allowed me to easily hike up to various Ancestral Puebloan ruins and see amazing things that probably not many people get to see in their lifetimes. I was at Jailhouse Ruins and wanted to climb up to the wall above it... I had to shimmy through a small hole and crawl along the edge of a canyon wall and these boots helped me grip so I don't slide off :) It was worth it!

They held up really well and I feel confident they will last a while. I'm very happy with these boots and would recommend them!

I got mine in the Gargoyle/Capri Breeze color and I love the colors! The backcountry.com product photo shows the colors accurately.

From summer hikes to winter walks

I've done 15 hour hikes in these boots all the way down to 30 minute dog walks. I love the versatility in them! They have always been one of my most comfortable pair of hiking boots I've owned. I would definitely buy these again!

cute but cut in at the ankle

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: Runs small
        • Size Bought: 7

Ordered these boots for a hiking trip to replace a pair of old boots I had for many years that were worn out. The boots themselves are very cute! They fit nicely in the foot area, but for me (I'm short & have a longer calf muscle) they cut in around my ankle & were not comfortable when I wore them around the house & up/down the stairs. Highly recommend for anyone with nice & skinny calves though!

        Extremely Comfortable

Wore these shoes for the first time up some really slick trails in Neff's Canyon. Overall really pleased with the quality of the shoe: durability, comfort, water-resistance, and breathablity. It's all there. The traction on these is also great for slippy treks. Would definitely recommend these to anyone looking for an all-weather hiking shoe. I opted for the mid because it offers great ankle support. I was not disappointed!

        Extremely Comfortable

        The tongue will break in

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size

I have small feet and need to where a women's shoe since Backcountry.com refuses to sell men's shoes in smaller sizes than size 8. Depending on the brand I usually where a women's 6-7. This shoe I was perfectly between 6.5 and 7.0 where my old Keen Targhee II was a 7. I decided to go with the 6.5 due to the snugger fitting shoe without my toes touching the end.

The only downside to this shoe (besides the price) was that the tongue was thicker than normal and ended up causing pressure points on the top of my foot. This quickly broke in in less than 1 week and is now very comfortable with the tongue ends tucked into the shoe instead of flaring out. I am a long time Keen fan and am very glad I upgraded to the Durand shoe. It is very comfortable (after breaking in the tongue). The sole is made of a softer rubber than my other shoes, which is good because I've been looking for a good dry canyoneering shoe for the last few years and I want a good sticky rubber to grip on the sandstone. It is supposed to be more durable than the normal rubber sole and have a longer life before falling apart.

Overall I would recommend the Durand shoe to anyone who wants a durable waterproof hiking shoe. Just remember that while the tongue may be uncomfortable at first, give it 4-7 days and it will break in.

Overall for size, I would rank this true to size/slightly larger than normal. I bought the 6.5 and 7 and wore both around the house for a few days (to keep them clean and new) while comparing different sized socks to ensure I keep the one that fits best and returned the other one.

Are these made in the US?

        Unanswered Question

Keen Durand MidWP Hiking Boot womens page show one hook lace at the boot top, but the images below show two hooks for lace at the top as do the mens' Durand midWP. What would I get if I order these? ALSO, I am choosing between the Durand and the Marshall. Do either have a larger toe-box? Any advantages or recommendations of the two? Thanks. ALSO, if I buy a men's boot how different from the women's of the same model and same size is the boot space (still referring to Durand and Marshall)?
