Bring along your KEEN Men’s Cimarron Water Shoes next time you inner tube down a river. These shoes’ outsoles give you traction on wet, smooth surfaces, rocks, and sand, and they feature drain holes so you don’t have to slosh around after you get out of the water. Mesh uppers dry fast, let your feet breathe during the hike to and from the river, and prevent pebbles from getting in. Bumpers protect your toes from getting stubbed.

Bottom Line: Breathable water shoes with traction and piggy protection.

Great Shoe!

I used this shoe along with neoprene socks to hike the Zion Narrows. 16 miles of walking on rocks in the water, and no sign of wear. The lacing system is terrible though, but really not a big deal - just replace it with standard laces.

Very happy so far

I bought this shoe to hike the Narrows at Zion. I was with people who rented the 5.10 canyoneering shoes from one of the local outfitters and someone who had a pair of Merrell water shoes. Having just returned I have to say I was very happy with the Keen's. I thought they outperformed the Merrells, which tore during the hike. The Keen's held up very well against the river rocks and have a feel of being very durable. The traction on wet rocks was excellent as well. They definitely held their own against the canyoneering shoes.

I have wide feet so I'm always apprehensive about ordering or renting shoes and having them not fit. Keen's wide toe box always fits me so they were a logical choice to order before the trip. This shoe did take a little break in, but not too much. All-in-all this is a very good shoe. I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting a water hiking shoe.

This review fits my scenario perfectly! Hiking the Narrows, wide feet, and weighing the buy/rent decision. Thanks!!

Keen does apparently make these in size 7.5 (and 7). I would contact backcountry.com to see whether they can get this shoe in a size 7.5. You may be OK with the 8's, but Keens generally run fairly true-to-size (and a little wide) so while you can tighten the drawcord the 8's may still be a little big. If they can't get the 7.5's one other option would be to order the 8's and if they are too big you can send them back.

KEEN CIMARRON WATER SHOE

By:

True to size and very comfortable right out of the box. These shoes wore equally well with or without socks and dry quickly. Good protection, toes in particular, against rocks, roots, etc.

Write your question here..I ordered the yellow/grey shoe not realizing my husband wanted the plain grey shoe. The box has been thrown out. Can I order the other color and return the first pair in the new box? Thanks.....Dawn Roch

Yeah for sure that is most likely possible. Backcountry.com has an open return policy so they would most likely be cool with it. I would just give there customer service a call at 800-409-4502

Just used these water shoes in the Presidentials, Mt Washington area in NH. Loved that they covered your whole foot, others I was with had other water shoes that didn't hold up against rock while river crossing. These held up great and protected my feet against the rock. A little heavier than others, but I would rather have the durability. Traction was great and shoe size was perfect. I am a size 10 and 10's fit me perfect. Definitly would highly recommend!

Great for the Right Use

By:

I purchased these for canoe trips and kayak trips and would highly recommend them for the right situations. I've used them on two trips so far, one with more satisfaction than the other. The lacing system is easy to use, tightens around your whole foot well and stays all day. The interior of the shoes are comfortable, tread is good. They keep out rocks, even small pebbles pretty well and I highly recommend them if this is what you're concerned about. I've also hiked in them after being in the water all day and have no complaints at all. A great all around shoe. Here's what I don't recommend them for - sandy trips. I wore them on a week long kayak outing in the Apostle Islands. I hadn't been there before so I didn't know what to expect, but nearly all our campsites were around sandy beaches (I was picturing little sand, more rocks and dirt or rock landings). Where theses shoes are not so great is that when you get sand in them, you can't get it out without taking the shoes off. Keen sandals would have been better on this trip. While I wouldn't recommend for water outings in sandy areas, if you use these for other water trips you'll be very happy from my experience.

Great shoe, great price, great value!

This truly is an awesome shoe than can be used in many settings. It is great for any type of water sport such as rafting, kayaking, or trekking that may involve crossing shallow water. I also have found myself using it for casual everyday wear. Buy This Shoe!!!!

Great shoe for water, hiking, plus!

By:
July 15, 2009

I've had this shoe for about a month now, and I've used them for hiking several miles, walking on saltwater beaches with slippery rocks, and sloshing (and boulder hopping) through a river. They have excelled in all ways. They are extremely comfortable with what seems sort of like a thin neoprene booty built in (I think Keen calls it "moisture wicking textile, whatever that means). They keep my feet warm on cool days (on a boat in Alaska) and they seem to breath well so I don't overheat. They clean-up easily with a hose, and they dry quickly (plus they actually do drain when wet). I highly recommend them!!
