The KEEN Women’s Butte Hiking Shoe takes on the trail and won’t complain when you decide to tromp through the river. The synthetic upper features a quick-drying Hydrophobic Mesh lining and an open design to dump water and allow air to flow freely.

  • S3 heel provides cushioning and support while absorbing shock to help prevent injury
  • Drawstring lacing system locks to provide a snug fit and lets you easily slip the shoe on and off
  • Multi-directional lug outsole means a tough grip on slippery rocks and difficult terrain
  • Soft flex TPU stone bruising plate provides support in the arch of your foot without restricting flexibility
  • KEEN found that this shoe runs about a ½ size small

Bottom Line: A hiking shoe that loves the trail and the river.

Keen Butte Hiking Shoe-W

Just hiked through Redwoods &Yosemite.I did a range of day hikes from 4 mile hikes up to 10 miles.Wore them with and without socks. Let them break in first before wearing without socks. Had a few blisters the first time only because I wore them brand new without socks and they were wet walking after walking through streams. I wore them again without socks in Yosemite and they broke in a but, but they were dry... no blisters. Very comfy and pretty grippy when jumping around on rocks & boulders. They dry very quick after being wet if set out in sun. Good for short hikes up to 10 miles. I wouldn't use them for longer hikes than that.

Barbara, most people wear them without socks so if your feet get wet they dry really quickly. If you don't plan on walking through creeks I don't see any reason why you couldn't wear them with socks.

I love Keen footwears. These are a bit narrower at the front comparing to the previous pair that I still have. They are still comfortable though.

Excellent hiking shoe for the tropics

I wore these shoes in very wet, muddy conditions on a 12 day hiking trip in Costa Rica. I wore them hiking on muddy trails over steep terrain in gentle rainy conditions. My feet were dry most of the time...only getting wet when crossing streams with footholds that allowed water to get into the top openings in the shoes. The shoes were always dry by the next morning - an amazing feat in the rain forest. And the traction was great! I highly recommend this shoe. Note: I found it ran true to size; I had ordered a size bigger than my normal size based on previous reviews, but it was too big. I returned them and got my usual size 7 and they were great.

Maybe you're supposed to wear them w/ socks, but my feet were not happy about these shoes. They've got this scratchy stitching inside that gave me all sorts of blisters.
