Keen Brixton Boot

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First the boot runs small and narrow. I wear a 5-5.5 US, and I ordered a 6 thinking I'd have extra room for additional sock as I usually do with other boots. My feet started to hurt due to the small sizing. The ankle /leg opening is small as well. So no room to tuck a pant leg in to keep them dry. I was disappointed and had to return the item.

Awesome Boot!

I bought these boots yesterday and totally love them. Not only are they warm, but live up to the comfort that anyone who has ever worn Keen shoes has come to depend on! They are easy to slip on and off, I have a wider foot, and they are a totally great fit! If you are looking for a snow boot that is as comfortable as any of the Keen shoes, this is the boot for you!! I am so ready for winter now!!!

Do these Keen Brixens have leather uppers,...

Do these Keen Brixens have leather uppers, or is that synthetic? If these are leather, what winter boot is synthetic? I need a warm boot for snow shoeing, but I don't wear leather. Thanks!

    Hey Cheryl,

Thanks for the question. I checked with KEEN and found that the upper for the Brixen Boot is a synthetic as KEEN labels what they use as an "Abrasion resistant and breathable textile mesh upper." With 400 grams of insulation, this boot is also plenty warm so you should be good to go for snow shoeing in the Brixen.

I'm looking to replace my beloved Summit County boots (which are still made for men but discontinued for women!!). The Brixen looks like the closest thing to the Summit County that Keen now offers for women. Is this correct, or is there another model boot I should be looking for?

I am looking for winter hiking boots. I love my summer Keens, and need good support. Will these be supportive enough?

    Hey Barbara,

If you are doing a lot of hiking, walking and snowshoeing I would recommend the Revel by KEEN. They have the same support as the Targhee Mid by KEEN and are toasty.

If you have a problem with keeping your feet warm, the Brixen Boot is warmer, but a little more cumbersome, but much more agile than say a heavy pack boot.

Hi! I usually wear Keen's in a 9 although I have one pair in an 8.5. I saw it was suggested to order a 1/2 size up. Should I knowing I usually wear a 9? Also, does the draw string top part of the boot slouch at all if you have a wider calf or is it stiff?

Would these boots work for -30-40F?

Would these boots work for -30-40F?

It's hard to say. It depends a lot on what you'll be doing. For example, you need a lot more insulation for sitting still than you'll need for hiking. Either way, unless your feet are usually very warm in your boots I would not suggest these for weather that cold. -40F is really cold. :)
